  1. Hey Guys, Here are some nuggets I found with the GPX 6000 in this video on the first trip -
  2. Hello All, I haven't had much time to post, but did manage to get about 4-5 hours on the new Minelab GPX 6000 metal detector. I didn't download and read the manual, just charged the battery and headed out with it. I figured it was so simple to use, didn't need to really read about it. It was pretty simple to set up, about 10-15 seconds and I was off detecting. A few things I noticed right away was the super lightweight and the fact it can compact down very small with the 3 piece carbon fiber shaft. I took it back over a few spots I worked with the GPZ 7000 in the past. There was still targets left behind, as it was originally a very trashy placer area. I was finding small pieces of wire, bits of iron and tiny pieces of lead and birdshot. There is no question, it's a bit more sensitive vs. the GPZ 7000 with the NF 12" Z Searchcoil. After about 4-5 hours of detecting and digging probably a hundred small targets, I managed to pull 6 small nuggets out. I didn't even get to weigh them, one is super tiny (far right on the coil), maybe a grain in size. All the nuggets combined might be a 1 to 1 1/2 Gram total. I didn't do any side by side comparison for anyone wanted to know how it does vs. other GPX detectors or the GPZ 7000. I can see this unit being very useful for prospecting & exploring due to the high sensitivity, lightweight and how it can compact down very small to fit into a backpack or even a quad box. I was fortunate to get a good batch of them, all pre-sold prior to the arrival. I'm expecting another batch soon, so if anyone is interested in one of these great new Minelab detectors, give us a call. I'm sure there will be many great reports on them, hopefully more when it cools off a bit. Wishing you all the best of success and stay safe out there! Rob
  3. Hey Steve, I have always valued your opinion and experience. I think for the most part, we are on the same page. The only difference we have, is you have personally used the Minelab GPX 6000 for some time and I'm basing most of my information from my experience on the GPZ 7000 and second hand info from personal friends that do own the GPX 6000's in different regions (outside the US). Majority of these guys still hold firm, the GPZ 7000 is more powerful when it comes to nuggets at depth. I'm very cautious when talking with potentially new customers to discuss all these points, such as price, weight, versatility, depth and such. I also tell all my customers before making a huge purchase, potentially a GPX 6000 or GPZ 7000, or any other detector(s), do some research before making a quick decision. I just wish we had a couple hundred to be sold to customers here in the US and get a lot more testers and field reports back on it. Wishing you much success with the GPX 6000 this season. Rob
  4. Hey Guys, Here is the new Sun Ray Pro Gold Headphones that will work on all 1/4" standard detectors and all the 1/8" detectors like the Minelab Equinox or Minelab Gold Monster 1000. Pretty slick idea that Sun Ray had with these. All the info, pictures and order link below - NEW GENERATION Truly Universal!! SUN RAY PRO GOLD UNIVERSAL HEADPHONES 1/8″ (Previously Known as CTX3030) New: “Lock’em Up” LIMITER – Yellow- ON is Down position – OFF is Up position. Adjustable leather headband. Custom engineered coiled cable for more dependability and longer life! The new foam padded soft leather muffs are not only more comfortable than the earlier vinyl muffs, they do not develop a “memory”. They conform to the shape of your head around your ears when worn and when taken off return to their original shape! Vinyl which normally has a life expectancy of (3) three years can get harder with time and the elements, which can cause a less comfortable fit as well as a noticeable increase in ambient (outside) noise. The former version of the Sun Ray Pros yield a 24 decibel reduction in ambient noise blocking ability when new. The new Sun Ray Pro “Gold” version yields a 26 decibel reduction in ambient noise blocking ability and continues to block that noise day in and day out, year in and year out because they stay soft and comfortable! Here are some of the new features of the new cable: New polyurethane jacket for better memory retention of coils vs. the previous PVC cable! More than 3X the number of copper strands (than previous cable) for more resistance to breakage! New cable coil is 20″ retracted vs 13″ on previous cable. Overall length of new cable is 38″. 6. Hey Way2Cool, I missed this post originally. This is my take, from all the years of using metal detectors and being a dealer. I don't think we will see a price drop on the GPZ 7000's as it's a different animal all together and is sell well. I could see at some point after the GPX 6000 is going strong that the GPX 5000 could drop down in price. The GPX 5000 dropped from $5795 to $4000 several years ago. Could we potentially see the GPX 5000 going down to a price range like the GPX 4500, I think it's possible, but not for $2699. I could see something like low to mid 3000 range. In my opinion, from what I have heard from close friends in different regions, the GPZ 7000 still has the depth ability, but the GPX 6000 is doing really well on smaller gold like the chart above shows. Just my thoughts, Rob
  7. Hello All, I came across a really old Youtube video I made back around 2008 here in Arizona. There are only a number of places in the last 25 years of metal detecting that I can say were honestly rewarding and worth all the effort to drag down a drywashing/vac-pac, set it up and run it all day or weekend. This happen to be one of those locations where we found a number of very rough gold nuggets using metal detectors, but the amount of smaller pickers and fine gold was unreal. Practically ever nugget my partner and I dug up, we saw a half dozen or more small pickers and a good amount of fines. You honestly don't find this too often, but they are out there and it does happen. We worked the small gully (as seen in the video) for several weekends, getting whatever we could metal detecting with a VLF and PI's. We then started down lower in gully and drywashed/vac from side to side, digging all the cracks and crevices up the best we could. The wash wasn't too long, nor very wide, maybe 3-4 foot in the widest spots. However, after about 2-3 weekends, we had the entire gully down to bedrock and ended up removing about 3 ounces of very small nuggets, pickers and fines. I believe we did so well due to the nature of this type of gold being very crystalline in nature. The source was probably weathered away as we never were able to locate any type of real vein or source. Overall, with all the gold, fines and gold nuggets, we ended up with about 6 ounces of really nice placer gold. There are hundreds, if not thousands of these locations still to be found, so a good metal detector can lead you into one of these hidden gems! Heck, at todays gold prices, just over $1900 per ounce, that's a nice $11,400 payday. It probably took about 5-6 days to recover it all. Wishing you all a bedrock-gold rich gully. Rob
  8. Hello Everyone, Well, if you own a Minelab GPZ 7000 metal detector, I would highly suggest the new 12" Round Nugget Finder Z Searchcoil designed for the GPZ 7000. This new, lightweight coil will surely increase your small gold finds better than the stock 14x13 GPZ coil. About 3 months ago I had the opportunity to originally test this coil before the release here in the US. My first day out I scored about a dozen smaller gold nuggets on patches I hit hard prior with the GPX series and GPZ 7000 with standard searchcoil. I ended up letting a good friend take the coil off my hand at the time as he had many places to prove this new coil out on. Over the course of about a month or so, he rounded over nearly a 100 gold nuggets off old patches, well paying for the new investment - searchcoil. I now received in a small batch of coil from Nugget Finder, most are already taken, but have just a few left in stock. That being said, I managed to get back out yesterday over a few patches and rounded up this gold nuggets. I'm super impressed with the lightweight and hyper-sensitivity to small gold and specimens. Wishing you all successful nuggetshooting! Rob
  9. Hey Guys, I must have missed this post. I have a batch of new NF Z Search coils for the GPZ arriving anytime. I have one of the largest orders and still will not be able to fill all the backorder I have on them. I recommend anyone looking for this coil to call me and get on the list ASAP so when they do come available, you will get one sooner than later. The coil will cost $1100 MAP with free shipping/insurance here in the US. Rob
  10. Hey Guys, Ya, I have to agree, there are no issues here. I have had the Invision Boards run numerous checks, all come back clean. I also "pay" for this forums, it's not a free one where it's loaded with ads and pop-ups, where there is a huge chance of bugs/viruses and such. Thanks for all the feedback. I agree, all the forums have slowed way down. Rob
  11. Hey Guys, I didn't get tape measure out, but it was well over 3 foot deep on bedrock. I agree, I'm holding my GPZ 7000 for now. I'm sure the new Minelab GPX 6000 will be great, light, super sensitive and have a huge demand here in the US. I will be getting one, but I'm sure I will be using the GPZ 7000 equal as much, especially in areas where I believe there could be gold at max depth. Tom - No question it's heavy. After a long day of swinging, the GPX 5000 or 6000 sure sounds good. Rob
  12. Hey Guys, Yes, that is correct, I believe I have found my smallest one ouncer to date. I'm referring to the size overall of the 1 ounce nugget. Most of my 1 ounce nuggets or larger are flat and much large in size. This slug, it solid and dense and weights 20.4 Dwt's, just .4 Dwt's over an ounce (20 Dwt's per Troy Ounce). I'm not going to discuss how deep it was found, or signal response - It was found with a Minelab GPZ 7000 and it was deep! Wishing you all many gold nuggets. Rob
  13. Hey Guys, I figured we can stir the pot just a little while we wait out the release of the Minelab GPX 6000, right? That being said, Minelab still claims the GPZ 7000 can get "up to 40% more depth" over previous GPX detectors. We can all question, does the GPX 6000 still fit in this category, as Minelab stated GPX detectors. The upcoming Minelab GPX 6000 is still a GPX series detector, but primarily using GeoSense Technology. I don't see where GeoSense really talks about any more depth ability over the previous GPX 5000, but it does mention about better ground response/clarity, maybe allowing you to hear something in higher mineralized ground over previous GPX series. I don't claim to be an expert electronic prospector, but my specialty is in detecting for gold nuggets with the best detectors available. We call all talk about how much gold we found, years of experience, regions we hunted and such ..... The bottom line is I still feel the Minelab GPZ 7000 is the KING of detectors when it comes to depth. Many Australian, African and US prospecting friends still feel the same. I personally have found many large gold nuggets and specimens at max depth where I doubt any detector with a similar sized searchcoil would have found. I also know that probably 1% or less of those large gold nuggets/specimens are out there still and the ones at max depth range of the current detector technology. Does this justify the purchase of a Minelab GPZ 7000 over the upcoming GPX 6000, or should GPZ 7000 owners dump their units now? These are questions I personally can't advise anyone on, but it's something to consider when you make a purchase of a metal detector in the thousands of dollar range. What I can leave you with is my personal experience over the last 25 years chasing gold nuggets .... If you are in areas where there has been historically large gold nuggets, overburden to bedrock/paylayer/caliche/false bedrock that can be several feet and deeper in depth, you might seriously consider either holding your current GPZ 7000 or consider a purchase of one at some point. I personally will not be parting with my trusty GPZ 7000, we have a 5+ year personal relationship. We have been through tough times, bad weather, I even yelled at her and dropped her a few times! Like Steve mentioned before, you could actually fall in love with your detector. Wishing you all much success with whatever detector(s) you swing. P.S. Below is a recent GPZ 7000 find, max depth, just a break in the threshold (yes the GPZ 7000 has one). Nearly a pound in weight (uncleaned in picture) Rob
  14. Hey Nancy, Welcome to the forums. The Yuba River system is a great gold area, wishing you and your friends much success up there. We would love to hear any stories after some of your trips. Rob
  15. Hey Guys, That is great news, I also got about 6 emails today stating the same thing, no issues whatsoever. The Invision Boards also just sent me back an email stating there are absolutely no viruses, bugs or issues, as it's on their hosted server, paid for and they run the top security stuff so all their forums/servers don't get hacked. I understand the forums are much slower now, only a few forums that are up and running. I'm thinking more and more people have turned from PC's and doing the phone stuff, Facebook, Instagram, Rumble, Tic-Tok and other major social media sites. Hope everyone is well, wishing you many nuggets to boot. Rob
  16. Hey Ridge Runner, I haven't heard anything about them, but it don't surprise me when it comes to scams and gold. Thanks for posting, maybe someone can dig up some info on them. Rob
  17. Hey Guys, I know the forums have been slow for some time, many are doing Facebook and social media stuff on their phones. That being said, I personally pay for this forum and it's hosted with Invision Boards. As you might have noticed, you don't see all the ad and pop-ups like other forums that are free. I have contacted Invision Boards several times and they have insured me there are no viruses, bugs and we are running the most current version/patch. Anyone else having any issues? No one has expressed to me any issues on the forums, besides just 1-2 individuals that seem to be getting some type of notifications that the forum is bugged. Thanks for any info you can share. Rob
