  1. Hit an area yesterday w/ 6K and the area was more than abundant with hot rocks (every foot and a half). I was running smooth ground and 7 sensitivity. I changed to rough ground and dropped sen. to 6 which made it better. Later I wondered if it would have been better to put into auto. Any thoughts???
  2. Bob, just saw this. Where do you hail from? I'm out of Prescott Valley. We make trips down to valley, Q and Gold Basin a couple of times a year/ With fuel prices there will be less trips. Hunting around now in the Bradshaws; not much luck yet.
  3. Did'nt make it before. Wife is still on breathing machine but going to go down to TW on the 20th. She can take care of herself now.
  4. Bob, I'm doing better. Was more concerned about wife. Back to bein bitchy so doing better. Told me to get out. Going to give it a day or so and all is well- going down Monday for week.
  5. Well crap! Running abit behind. Never really felt real bad but wife was. Had sore thoat and coughed but I always cough. No fever either of us. She says git out. Gonna give it 2 days and if all well, headed for Tom Wells on Monday for a week.
  6. Sorry to say trip to Quartszite is on hold right now. Neighbor across street came over last week and spent time with wife and got sick next day. I guess gave it to wife, as she got ill Saturday. We've been staying separated but my chest is kinda junk this morning. Not going to take a chance of spreading anything so going to back out of trip to Quartzsite for now.
  7. What's a good way to start off the new year? With a nugget of course! So, planning an unoffical get together. No raffles, no big dinners, no training sessions, no meetings just detecting, big area to ride around in, comraderie, maybe some cocktails and lying around the fire! I'm looking at between Jan 12-20th at Tom Wells (west of Q) at the village. Area is all pretty much open and alot of camping. Good gold area. Weather looks to be good. Think about it and hope you can make it! Any input?
  8. Just got home. Windy trip for sure. Got TH in it's bed for awhile, will clean out tomorrow. I now have to throw some excellent kudos out to the WSPA club and most especially Jeff, Denny (been way too long dude!) and Clark. Spent the last 6 days at Gold Basin. WSPA did 2 pushes and had a coin shoot on Sunday. Saturday night there was the steak barbq. My brother and I were guests and couldn't have felt more family! Gold was brought home. They are more California and Nevada but looking into Arizona. Check them out. Couldn't find a better crew to hunt with!
  9. For Sale- Last trip out, was able to run this 4500 for a couple of hours max. Even with hipstick and bungy- arm hurt. Finished trip with Equinox 800. I need to pass it on. This Minelab 4500 modded by Woody is phenomenal! We did a test down at one of Bill S's outings. Buried a 1/2 gram "lead nugget" at 16". Only Bill's Woody modded 3000 and this 4500 heard the target at a respectable height over it. A 5000 couldn't hear the target and 7000 could if you scraped ground. Detector works perfect. Along with the detector included all components I've collected over the years: 12" EVO w/ shaft, 14" Mono Advantage w/ shaft, 17"NF oval advantage w/ shaft, 12" oval Coiltec w/ shaft, 11" ML stock DD coil. Extra shafts. Doc's Gold screamer Power supply with several extra batteries and two chargers. Stock brick battery and backpack. Koss headphones with cordless setup. Speaker and extra power cords. Doc's Nugget Stalker pick w/ 2"x2" rare earth magnet (new). One could probably piece all the extras out and get the detector for free. When I went on my trips, wanted backups for every thing. Last time I looked Woody's mod was running around $2200. Anyway I want $2000 for the complete outfit. I'm located in central Arizona. Pretty much too much to ship. Tom Shepherd 'Shep' 559-658-0243
  10. I have one of Joes originals also. For sticking the magnet on, try Permatex Black silicone adhesive . It's the best I have found for sticking everything!
  11. Have a slightly used 20” Nugget Finder coil w/ shaft for sale. Works fine, have a modded 4500 w/ 12” Evo coil and don’t want to dig any deeper than that! First $150.
