  1. I have owned and read a number of Karl's books and they are always a good read, along with a bit of humor interwoven into the text. I still have one that some of you have probably never heard of, as its fairly hard to find. He wrote it under the Pen Name of Deek Gladson. The copyright was 1971 and he called it: Treasure of the Valley of Secrets. The book has a section from another book called The Scarlet Shadow which is the story of the Great Colorado Conspiracy. This book, by Walter Hurt was copyright in 1907 and has a bit to do with the treasure. I might add that this book is now, almost impossible to find. The Scarlet Shadow is a good read, but may cause you to scratch your head a bit. Bob T.
  2. Hey Flak, How goes it?? I'm still around, here and there, just lurking. Seems that I learn a bit more if I keep my mouth shut and just read what others have to write about. There are no absolutes, but there are a large number of bits and pieces of good info. that if incorporated into your everday routine of detecting/prospecting will shorten or enhance your journey to success. Bob T.
  3. times over with coins & jewelry. Still have the Gold Bug 2 and the ML 3500. Each one has its place. The Whites and Tesoro have always done us proud in the hunts. Very few times have we ever came up with less coins and tokens then the hunts cost us. Good to see you out and about. Bob T.

  4. Hi Bob,

Remember me? Just checking on if all you guys are still alive now that the 24K club lots were sold. Are you still travelling up here for gold?

    Take care

  5. Well good for them. There is only one place that I can think of that would be better then jail and thats hanging from a tree limb back in a canyon somewhere. Bob T.
  6. Montana, I have looked at a few different boots with the side zipper and always thought that I would like to try a pair but worry somewhat about the zipper failing on me when I'm two or three miles from the truck. Have you ever had a problem with the zippers?? How about the dust or dirt that gets into them, does it make them hard to open or close? I have zippers on my snake leggins & if they get a lot of dust in them they are a bitch. Bob T.
  7. I have a pair of Converse 8" metal free desert tan boots that I bought on sale from LA Police Gear. Bought them a year or so ago for around $39.00. Very comfortable right out of the box so I didn't have to do the break in thing. Great boots. Bob T.
  8. Hey 714, For a minute there, you took my breath away. Too bad that was not a real one. Ron, you remember where you dug that nugget out of those tree roots? Someone dug a hole in the bottom of the wash right at that spot but didn't find much as they only went down 3 or 4 ft. and failed to get to bedrock so they gave up. You going to make it over again this month??? Bob T.
  9. Hey Ron, how goes it?? Your right about silence is golden. You don't have to worry about folks over-running your patch. Don't know about the Duct Tape thing but looking back I do remember a time or two where I wished that I had a strip to cover some loose lips, it cost me some nice gold. I don't make those mistakes anymore. Bob T.
  10. I have met and talked with a large number of people while in the field but I almost always hunt alone. For that reason I never have to become upset with anyone and no one has any reason to become upset with me. The biggest nug. that I know of, from this area was a bit over seven oz.. However, awhile back someone showed me one that was a little over 30 oz., solid gold, no quartz at all. Haven't had any luck lately on the big stuff, just enough to keep the skunk away. Got a couple small ones a few days ago for a total of 4.8 grams. Bob T.
  11. Nice gold Gary. I did not get to hunt today. Had to go over to Wickenburg, however I did pop out 5 grams a couple days ago. Actually I was short 4 grains of 5 grams. One was a gramer & the other was a bit over 2 grams, the others were dinks. Good to see you out and about. Bob T.
  12. Rob, He will be back over, just don't know when. The Gold Atlas is a great book. Very good comprehensive guide & sort of a mini geology course with lots of great photos, both past and present. A great book for the novice as well as the Pro or experienced nugget shooter. Well worth the price that you get for it. Bob T.
  13. Hey Rob, Dr. Erik Melchiorre was over for a couple of days. Talked with him for quite awhile today and gave him a couple of samples. He asked that I pass on a Hello to you. Bob T.
  14. SB 1108 passed the Ariz. Senates 3rd & final reading by a vote of 20 to 10. The bill will be up for its third & final reading tomorrow in the House. Also HB 2543 passed its final reading by a vote of 36 to 21. HB 2543 is a preemtion reform bill. Bob T.
