Relichunter2
I am pretty sure my batteries are original one that came with the 4500 I purchased from a friend. So lets say they are about 6-7 years old....I have two and alternate them..between charges,,,,one battery may last me 5-6 hours than it gets a bit noisey cause of the voltage drop....I would like to buy a good used one just in case....one of the two go bad... Grubstake1
The short answer is yes, and 5000 batteries can be used on the 4000 also. 5000 batteries have a built in amp. and so do the 4500's the 4000's did not, but the 5000 batteries still can be used, you gain an amp, that's built in. Admin nuggethunting Posted July 6, 2014 Admin Report Share Posted July 6, 2014 Hey Hobby, All the guys information prior is correct. The GPX batteries when they are new are able to get 14-16 hours out of them. I have hunted an entire weekend on a new stock GPX battery. As you charge them and they age, the life will drop some. If you're getting 8 hours out of any older battery, say a few years old, then it's ok.
Hobby
Know if the volt regulator is in the battery or in the detector on the GPX . Thank for the info
Admin nuggethunting Posted July 6, 2014 Admin Report Share Posted July 6, 2014 Hey Hobby, The regulators on the older GP series were onboard. I would have to ask the Minelab Engineers if it's now in the GPX batteries or onboard like before. The stock batteries are bullet-proof, but many, like myself, hate the harness and power cord hanging off. I love the Goldscreamer Power Pack for the GPX series though. It's a bit pricey, but well worth every penny in my opinion.
