  1. Rob, Do you have before and after photos of the nuggets? I am assuming nuggets don't always look like pretty yellow wedding rings gold when found? How do you get the crud off? How do you even know its a nugget and not just a hotrock or piece of magnetite, which can be quite heavy too? I have a 5 pound hunk of magnetite I got in a wash below an old gold lode mine sw of Payson years ago. It was solid black but stuck to a magnet. We don't have nugget ground in the Midwest USA that I know of yet. Sure do envy you guys in Az, Ca, Nevada at times.. -Tom V.
  2. Rob, What is your strategy when encountering rattlers while detecting in the desert. Do you immediately leave the area, freeze and look around when you hear the rattle, attack with your pick, leave the snake be? How far can they strike at you? I 've never had such an encounter so need to have a good strategy for when it does happen? And does an electric shock stop the venom if bitten or use a suction cup thing or what do you do for first aid, especially if you are alone and a mile or more from your truck? Do you use the 1 cup Nuggetbuster headphones or detect without headphones so you hear the rattlesnakes? Thanks, -Tom
  3. That does sound too good to be true for Imitrex pricing. I started getting these damn ocular migraines a few years ago on top of my other ones . Just found out my favorite tea may be partially to blame. Arizona green tea in the gallon jugs. The list of ingredients does NOT say it has caffeine but I had a big cup of cold tea, went to work, and my head was pounding like my heart was trying to jump out . I knew from past experience, if that intense pounding sensation did not stop, I would get hit with an ocular migraine, and sure enogh I get to work, and , BAM !! Started seeing psychedelic kaleidoscope like rainbows blocking my center vision, but no headache, took an Imitrex, and waited for about 45 minutes for the worst of it to stop. Thank God we have Imitrex and other wonder pills these days.Wonder what the old timers did 100 years ago, besides drink snake oil and whiskey for aches and pains? Doc told me to stay away from Arizona green tea as well as chocolate candy as migraine triggers. -Tom V.
  4. A Plan of Intent or a Plan of Operation ? The Tonto Natl Forest in Arizona says I cannot metal detect for gold as a mineral in their area without one of these 2 Plans or a Permit.I can use a gold pan but NOT a shovel? How does one dig for gold without a shovel? I need to get this figgered out before I come out to Arizona again to gold hunt, don't wanna waste my time or money. Also, was wondering which Minelab/Coiltek coils will work with my new Whites TDi? Is there a 10 x 14 elliptical coil for a decent price, preferably waterproof? Email me at tvanwho@yahoo.com as I don't check this forum too often. Its only 5 degrees in the sun here in Chicagoland, gettin cabin fever already. Thanks--Tom
