Congrats to Jim Straight

Rob There's no finer gentleman that deserves being inducted into the Treasurer Hunter's Hall of Fame. Not only for his books and articles, but, also for the personal help and encouragement he gives others. Iam sure everyone will agree that it is about time. If anyone on the forum has not met Mr. Straight they are missing a real opportunity to gain more knowledge in the field of detecting. Just setting and listening to him is an education in itself. Congratulations Jim. Jerry

Rob... How did you find out? I was one of about three who were inducted.

I now am fully aware that "BONE" is well known and the committee

selected me for one of the recipiants of the:

15th TREASURE HUNTERS HALL OF FAME 2008.

Dedication & Service

It is truly a great Honor, and I'm overwhelmed... If I deserve this

award, it is because of all of you who have supported me over

the many years.

Hello Jim,

It was Jim B., the publisher that told me. :D:) Your 7th edition is still a very popular seller, probably one of the best selling prospecting/metal detecting book available. If anyone is interested, I'm one of only a very few that can get them.

Congrats once again Jim, my mentor and friend for life!

Congratulations, Jim, on your induction into the Treasure Hunters

Hall of fame!

Having a goodly collection of your writings, I again read the article

in the current Silver and Gold magazine entitled "Detecting Eolian

Placers in the Desert Southwest". Each time I read that article,

I learn a little more about how those placer types came to be the way they

are, and how I can better understand how gold came to be where it is in

those locations.

Thanks again, Jim, you are a genuine living "treasure"!

Gary

As most of you know, back about 1987 the "Gold Dust Twins," Richard and

Elizabeth Doherty were the early Minelab Distributors USA. Richard found out

about my original "Follow the Drywashers." It was then being published and

distributed by Mountain Publications. Richard liked it and ordered 200 copies

and put a copy in the Xt-16000 in each wooden box that was distributed in the

USA.

Thus, With Richard setting the way, all I am... I owe to Richard and Elizabeth

for such a great start. As you remember, Richard was very knowledgeable

and shared his knowledge. Over the years Richard has been in my thoughts.

Since then, I continue to be fortunate. My small "single blanket" book business

continues, and my freelance articles are still being accepted.

To sum it up; I have lived a long and full life, and still look to the future. Gloria

and I have been married for 54 years. We have become the great-grandparents

of three. The fourth one will arrive any day. And "gold" comes in many forms!

I thank all of you for buying my books and reading my freelance articles.

Hopefully I will be at the AMDA hunt at Laughlin and plan on having a booth

at the January GPAA gold show in San Bernardino.
