I have been living with all the personal that is fighting this fire for the last week. This is what they have told me.

Fire started from two guys target shooting in the Merced river canyon. They tryed to put it out but it got away from them. They then got to a phone and called 911.

Saturday it burned 16,000 acers that is the seond fastest burning fire in Mariposa countys history.

Today the fire is 90% contained, 35,000 acers burned,21 houses burned most of them within 1/2 mile from my place some I watched burn nothing we could do. some of them were in the middle of the fire storms and to are amazment were still standing in the morning.I'm assuming they were the ones with a lot of clearance.

Take care,Matt
