Admin nuggethunting Posted August 20, 2013 Admin Report Share Posted August 20, 2013 Hello All, Anyone hear anymore about the French Gulch Fire that is approx. 6 miles East of Yarnell, Arizona? I heard early today it was about 450 acres, but moving pretty good. The access to that areas is difficult and pretty damn thick. I have prospected back there before and you can't hunt much more than off the roads. The hillsides and washes are choked full of brush. Hopefully this don't turn into something like the last one. Here is some information I found on the Internet -YARNELL, Ariz. (AP) -- A wildfire burning five miles east of the communities of Yarnell and Peeples Valley in north-central Arizona is now 5 percent contained after charring an estimated 450 acres. It's in the same region as the deadly Yarnell Hill fire. Nineteen members of the Granite Mountain Hotshots were killed June 30 when shifting wind swept flames over their position. The state Forestry Division says theFrench Gulch Fire is burning in brush and low trees in extremely rugged terrain where there's no road access for firefighters.Officials say about 100 personnel are battling the blaze from the air and ground and the fire's only activity now is on the western flank. The lightning-caused fire started Saturday night and isn't threatening any structures at this time. The Yarnell Hill fire killed 19 members of the Granite Mountain Hotshots when shifting wind swept flames over their position.Yarnell is about an hour and 45 minutes northwest of Phoenixhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YGwhzRGkIwERob Allison
