RIP - JIM Straight - My Mentor and Good Friend

Recommended Posts

Hello All,

Well yesterday I got the bad new from a friend that Legend, Jim Straight passed away.  Most probably know Jim as a icon in this hobby of gold prospecting.  Jim has been a great friend and mentor of mine.  Without Jim's help back in the day, I wouldn't be where I am now.

God Bless you Jim, I will truly miss you!

Your friend and Brother in Christ,

Rob Allison

Jim was a tremendous inspiration and freely gave of his knowledge.  He was always ready to share and visit.  I remember sitting with him on many occasions and listening to him sharing his knowledge.  He was always happy but was willing to correct a wrong when he saw it.  I will miss the many conversations I had with him.  Prayers for his daughter and family.  Dianne and I will always visting with him.............a Brother in Christ

I had the opportunity to talk to him and he signed my book 3 hours to gold.  I didn’t realize his impact until I really started to research who he was and the impact he had on the hobby.  RIP Mr. Straight😢

I last saw and spoke with Jim a bit over a year ago. He spent several hours on both Saturday and Sunday in the ICMJ booth with me at the Pomona GPAA show. He was a good man and wrote many articles for the ICMJ. It is sad to see him go.

I never met Jim but feel rather close in fellowship with Christ.  The world has lost another great soul.  I hope we can carry on in his example.  You will be missed Brother.

Hey Guys,

A good friend of mine Dan sent me over these pictures of Jim.  Dan was taking care of Jim for a long time and helping promote and sell his books.
