"24 Karat Board Meeting Discussions"

Hello All,

Just wanted to update all the 24 Karat Members out there. The Board meeting was held at the Arrowhead Bar and Restaurant last Thursday evening. All the board members were there including the entire claims security crew.

Here is some of the stuff that was discussed at the Board Meeting -

(1) All dogs, regardless of size, must be leashed on the claims. No dogs are allowed to roam free!!!

(2) All members must use an 11-inch elliptical or round searchcoil on the first two days of the push (normally Saturday and Sunday).

(3) There are no plans to re-push new areas at this time. Elly wants to try to get some type of small trommel to work some of the material before pushes are reclaimed.

(4) Vehicles and Quads are not allowed to park in the pushes. There has been a handful of guys driving and parking on the pushes to drywash. All drywashers and detectorist must park outside the push area. Please make sure you don't block the main dirt road just in case of an emergency situation where immediate access is needed.

(5) Badges or proof of membership must be worn, or at least have while on the claims. Elly is working hard on getting new badges out to members that don't have them now. For all the members that don't have membership badges, please make sure you have your membership payment confirmation or proof of membership with you. Claim Security is allowed to ask any member for proof.

(6) Pushes on the west side, Desert Special Claims 1 & 2, will be pushed in early November. Elly is not pushing all the claims each month, which was the understanding by many including myself. Each month the pushes will rotate from the Desert Special Claims to the Devil's Nest Claims.

(November will be Desert Special Claims, 2 pushes. December will be Devil's Nest Claims, 5 pushes).

A special Thanks to Elly for the wonderful baby back rib dinner! ;)

Questions or comments you can contact Elly or any Board Member.

Thanks,

Rob Allison

Hello Bunk,

We are using what the manufacture say's the size is. Anything that is under 12-inches would be considered an 11-inch coil and could be used.

Here is a list of coils that can be used on the Minelab PI's -

Minelab 8-inch Round

Minelab 11-inch Round

Coiltek 10x5 Elliptical

Coiltek 11-inch Round

Coiltek Platypus 11-inch Elliptical

Nuggetfinder 10x5 Elliptical

Nuggetfinder 10-inch Round

There has been a few that "think" they can pull off a bigger coil, but security is now aware of the sizes and how to ID them. Don't embarsh youself when you have to be escorted off the pushes by security in front of all the members! :(

I made the 11-inch restriction so all VLF's and PI's would have the same chance to find nuggets near the surface on the pushes. Yes, the PI's with smaller coils will still go deeper, but anything somewhat near the surface can be heard by any detector.

Hope this helps,

Rob Allison

Rob. One thing that may be considered at the next meeting is the drywashers running on the pushes on the push weekend. I found it very distracting trying to hear a faint signal with a drywasher screaming nearby. Since the push piles are huge, and could never get drywashed in months , there is no hurry to rush out there on a push weekend with a drywasher. They might do better to wait anyway to let the clay dry out a little and break down some.----Bob

Hello Bob,

I agree with you that the drywashers are distracting. However, as much as I tried Elly was against the idea and said the club wasn't just for detectorist, but any methods of prospecting. Trust me, I tried to keep them out of the pushes, but it didn't work.

From what I've seen and heard, most of the drywashers are finding very little color anyways, so I don't think many of them will continue. I think the drywashers would have more luck working the push piles and small gullies on the hill rather than the pushes.

Talk with you later,

Rob Allison

Hello Slim,

I bet you went down to the Green Door! :P Haven't heard a peep about the pushes. Was hoping someone would have some information.

I only know of about 3-4 nuggets that came off the Desert Special claims. The first day of the push a nice 12 Dwter was found along with a couple of smaller ones. I know I hit the second push pretty hard along with a bunch of other guys and no one found a single nugget.

What have you heard?

Talk with you soon,

Rob Allison
