Reno Chris
Well, this is a few days early, but many of you will find out with the next issue of the Prospecting and Mining Journal. In 2011, the Prospecting and Mining Journal magazine will be sponsoring a new kind of prospector's show in the Mother Lode Country of California. A bit different that your average GPAA show, in addition to featuring all the great prospecting equipment on the market, we will have a strong emphasis on teaching prospectors to improve their skills and knowledge. Its going to be an exiting time, so because it much more than just a gold show, we've named this meeting a Prospector's Summit. Of course where else would you hold such a summit than the heart of the Mother Lode in Placerville. Set aside some time in April and we will see you there!Chris
FlakMagnet
Hi Chris,That sounds like an interesting event best of luck to the organizers.I wonder if there will also be a booth with someone giving out information on how best to educate ourselves about mining laws and other mining-related information so perhaps we can begin to have a more unified voice in the way the Government is closing off so much land and making mining and prospecting more difficult with each passing year.(although I am heartened by this: http://news.yahoo.co...ilderness_rules )If we don't do it certainly no one else will. The Gold Mining and Prospecting Summit sounds like a perfect setting.fwiw,Flak
Reno Chris
Flakmagnet - We will have classes on mining law and claim staking, and PLP will be there to talk about what they are doing to preserve our rights to mine and keep land open. Are you a member of PLP?PS - I could not get your link to work - could you re-post it?Chris
FlakMagnet
Hi Chris,Try this link perhaps it will work better:http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20101223/ap_on_re_us/us_wilderness_rules...and no I am not a member of PLP (that's Public Lands for People, right?), but would like to be.All the best in the coming New Year.Flak
Reno Chris
Hi Flak- Hey you can find out more about PLP at:http://www.plp2.org/I read that article, and the totally political stuff where the extremist liberals want to declare everything wilderness is really difficult with the leftist socialist party currently in charge. All I can say is that we need more conservative politicians in Washington that are not beholden to the socialist / extreme leftist democrats / Euro greens in our country. Short of that, I think we are stuck with the anti development / wealth re-distribution / business is the enemy / big government overlords that we have now in the Obama administration. Reno Chris
Applevalleyjoe-Its the first time for this show. We probably would not hold it down in So Cal as the GPAA is already doing a show at Pomona this weekend. No need to have a gold show every couple months in the same area!If you've never been to the motherlode country, I think you will find it really interesting. We are doing a hands on training event out in an old hydraulic pit gold mine on the Monday after the vendor show. Chris
