matt
Nice looking piece. I have one soaking right now also. Did you leave the remaining quartz on for a reason or did the acid weaken? Minehas slowed down a lot.
El Dorado
That specie looks great either way! Now it's a nice cabinet piece for sure. By the way, I have a secret for getting the brown color off the middle!
Southside
Beautiful specimen Kid Saxton, thanks for sharing. Would like to know what El Dorado ideas are for cleaning up the dark spot. Thanks again, Southside

Hi Matt I let the rock soak for four days, on the fourth day it still looked like it did on the third day. So I added fresh acid and let it soak for another day. Yes I did leave some quartz on it purposely. Take Care, Chuck

I'm unfamiliar with various acids used to soak quartz in to reveal the gold as you did, and would hate to use the wrong solution. Colorado doesn't give up specimens like you've shown.h20
matt
It's called hydroflouric acid. I would not recommend anybody handling this stuff without taking some major precautions.
