Buckeye Boy
Just got home from a day trip with Newriver Blake and both of us found gold. I started detecting with my new to me 3000 and didn't take long to find the first nugget it has ever seen. After lunch I pulled out the 5000 and Joey coil. Blake and I spent the rest of the day cleaning the place up. Blake's nuggets are on the left and mine are on the right. The small specs were dug out of the cracks with tweezers and a straw. It turned out to be a great day.

Gravelwasher
What a great take and way to go with GP3000!! Why the change over after finding a pc with the gp?
Buckeye Boy
I went back to the 5000 because it is what I trust . When you set it up with a small coil and fine gold timing it is a killer combo.. My theory is simple why swing a 3000 when you have a 5000. I do know a few of the pieces I found would not been found with the 3000or the TLST.
Gravelwasher
Thanks Buckeye,I thought that was why you switched over. I have heard the GP3000 is just as sensitive as the 5k and also heard the opposite that the 5k is more sensitiveon small gold. Thanks again and keep getting that gold small or large love to see it. More gold than boot tacks to ya.

justindoober
I run the 3000 and hunt with buckeyeboy quite a bit. He finds some tiny stuff and more of it than me. My smallest piece so far weighed in at .06 grams or .92 grains and it was a good target. I know he has found smaller gold and deeper with the 5000 than I ever could. Gravelwasher
Cowkiller, Thanks for the info, .06 gram is small stuff for sure, will keep hunting. What coil is your favorite for the small stuff? Hope to get out after work as soon as it starts to stay light longer and detect a little each day after work. justindoober
I use the commander 5x10 dd. I know its not the best coil on the market but it is the only one small coil I have.If i were to go buy one i would get the Joey in mono. I wish I lived close enough to do that. Anytime I get to go its has to be an all day trip or its not worth going out.

Gravelwasher
Nice on the .05 grams If I could get out for the whole day I would but gotta keep slaving away, but happy to have a job. Not sure if the spot thats close will produce but its good practice and better than TV.
