srferjo714
Another Wipe out an Industry Bill - End ALL Mining In U.S. - Unbelievable! Has Support in CONgressWhen I think I have heard it all, a bill has been introduced that has support that would wipe out one of our few remaining industries - Mining!I can not grasp what our govt. is thinking, but bringing these bills up, when they are done, we won't have any industry left. The amount of jobs lost would be tremendous if this bill sees the light of day and gets passed!link to article: http://www.icmj.com/article.php?id=56&...ning_in_the_U.SContact information for each of the bill sponsors:Nick Rahall (D-WV) phone 202 225-3452George Miller (D-CA) phone 202 225-2095Henry Waxman (D-CA) phone 202 225-3976Ed Markey (D-MA) phone 202 225-2836Howard Berman (D-CA) phone 202 225-4695Raúl Grijalva (D-AZ) phone 202 225-2435Rush Holt (D-NJ) phone 202 225-5801Jim Costa (D-CA) phone 202 225-3341Donna Christensen (D-VI) phone 202 225-1790Dale Kildee (D-MI) phone 202 225-3611Maurice Hinchey (D-NY) phone 202 225-6335Earl Blumenauer (D-OR) phone 202 225-4811Patrick Kennedy (D-RI) phone 202 225-4911Ron Kind (D-WI) phone 202 225-5506Lois Capps (D-CA) phone 202 225-3601Adam Schiff (D-CA) phone 202 225-4176Mike Honda (D-CA) phone 202 225-2631John Salazar (D-CO) phone 202 225-4761Anna Eshoo (D-CA) phone 202 225-8104Niki Tsongas (D-MA) phone 202 225-3411Gerry Connolly (D-VA) phone 202 225-1492

harveykeefer
some of this non sense is caused by some of the miss use of mining claims. here in california we have ranchers / politicians/ geramendi, that have actually thousands of mining claims in calaveras county. years ago i was checking on old mining claims and stumbled across all of his claims filed. i wonder if he even owns any land. he ranches thousands of acres, all under the miss use of mining claims. i don't want any laws passed restricting mining. but it would be nice to see some enforcment on illegal use of mining claims. sawmill
harvey If you bother to check with the BLM or Forest Service, youwill find that the fellow has grazing leases in the area. You can not use a mining claim for grazing or non mining purposes. But a rancher with grazing leases has the same right as any Americanto file mining claims on public land. Not checking the facts and only telling part of the story is the kind of information that environmentalists feed on. Sounds good to the ignorantmasses for a reason to change mining laws. But the BLM or Forest Servicejust don't allow people to ranch by filing mining claims.
Pyrite Boy
Harvey, Sawmill is dead-on, as usual......this latest attempt to end mining is just that; just the latest attempt that will be back in one form or another until the Environmental Lobby gets what they want or the folks reading this dummy up and take action to stop/slow down the Lobby.....there are plenty of laws on the books to address misuse of Public Lands, so sleep well knowing that.......contact the applicable agency (Forest Service or BLM) if you know of any misuse......the Sierra Club, Center for Biological Diversity, et al don't care about what you are concerned about.....they are pushing the legislation via Liberal Democrats that will end mining and prospecting on your Public Lands... sawmill
harvey The guy can have as many mining claims on public land as he wants.Maybe he found minerals while chasing cows, and decided to file some perfectlylegal mining claims. How do you know he is not exploring,or getting ready todo some mining? Have you checked every claim to be sure he owns all of them. A grazing lease is the only way you can use public land for grazing. The BLMand Forest Service take grazing trespass real serious. You have never saw meanand nasty until you have seen a BLM livestock trespass eviction. Quit listening to BS,and read the laws, before accusing other land users of stuff, that in fact don't happen. You are sounding like a typical environmentalist insteadof a legitimate prospector.

You are sounding like a typical environmentalist insteadof a legitimate prospector. first of all buddy, i am no typical environmentalist and i take offense to your words. sorry to offend, i'm just stating what i saw, maybe senetor geramendi is a prospector.i wish him luck on his thousands of legal claims. i guess i am more in favor of a use it or lose it perspective. this might be the answer to people sitting on huge amounts of claims and never using them. it is becoming almost impossible to find places to prospect. every where you go there are no trespassing posted. i respect the law and obey it. i know that claiming a piece of land for mining purposes is a right and a privallege bestowed to us by our government. do i feel that this right can be abused though. i guess i come from the old school and hold to the saying, don't piss down my back and tell me its raining. i'm not that gullable.
