It is a fun, family oriented coin hunt along with a gold panning contest and other events. Plan on attending to hunt and also meet old friends to talk about detecting finds. dutch john
Thank You Jerry for your excellent post... I believe it is aboutthe 22nd annual event. Over the years I have never missed one!eleven great hunts... all coils are allowed... headphonesare mandatory... They plant the field for each hunt carefully. It is subdividedinto sections and each quarter is planted equally. Actually, thisevent is now well known and well attended. believe it isnow the best attended annual event in southern CaliforniaThere is a hunt or two for everyone, no matter your skill level.I hope there will be a lot of "first timers" entering one of theevents... they are not "competition"... just fun... and to get outon the field and "beep" and dig a target... well it could be justa clad coin, or a token good for a neat prize! You will enjoy thememories for all of your life... no matter how well you do...Actually there is a special hunt for ol' guys and gals from 65-74. Also another for those over 75... However, the gals do not wish to let their age be known (JustKidding gals!!) I'm only 39 and wear a holloween mask and forsome mysterious reason, I'm able to sneak in with the "old"plus 75 guys and gals. And I suspect, but can't prove, several of theplus 75'ers are actually 85'ers. I wish the West Coasters would set up a plus 85 division so these guys and gals would not continue to "cream" us plus 75 youngsters. (Confidentually, I'm now finding it harder each year to get in the kids junior hunt for age 12 or younger. The kids now suspect I'm 13 or older) For those boys and gals who like to move fast. There is a competition hunt... for whomever can find the most (usually pennies) in the hunt... So if anyone feels competitive, getin this event... And even if you are slow... ya' never know,(remember a stopped clock is exactly right twice a day,and it may be your "hour." so start practicing.
