FIRST SIGNIFICANT STORM OF THE FALL STILL EXPECTED TO ARRIVE THIS WEEKEND...AFTER A NEARLY TWO WEEK STRING OF ABOVE NORMAL TEMPERATURES ACROSS THE SOUTHWEST UNITED STATES... WITH DAILY HIGHS REACHING INTO THE TRIPLE DIGITS OVER THE HOTTER LOWER DESERTS OF ARIZONA... A SIGNIFICANT COOL DOWN IS ON THE HORIZON.WINDY AND MUCH COOLER WEATHER IS EXPECTED ACROSS SOUTHEASTERN CALIFORNIA AND SOUTHERN ARIZONA THIS WEEKEND AS A VIGOROUS PACIFIC LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM MOVES INTO THE DESERT SOUTHWEST. HIGH TEMPERATURES OVER THE LOWER DESERTS WILL FALL FROM NEAR 100 DEGREES TODAY TO THE LOW TO MID 80S BY SUNDAY... AND INTO THE 60S AND 70S OVER THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS SUCH AS SOUTHERN GILA COUNTY. THE COOLER TEMPERATURES... WHICH WILL BE WELL BELOW SEASONAL NORMALS... WILL PERSIST INTO THE EARLY PART OF NEXT WEEK.MOISTURE WILL BE LIMITED WITH THIS SYSTEM AND THEREFORE WIDESPREAD AND HEAVY RAINFALL IS NOT EXPECTED. THERE WILL BE INCREASING CHANCES FOR SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS IN THE HIGHER TERRAIN NORTH AND EAST OF PHOENIX STARTING SATURDAY AFTERNOON. IF THE STORM SYSTEM MOVES FAR ENOUGH SOUTH AND PULLS IN ENOUGH MOISTURE... THE LOWER DESERTS COULD SEE ISOLATED TO SCATTERED SHOWERS OR THUNDERSTORMS... PARTICULARLY SATURDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH SUNDAY MORNING.FINALLY... WINDS WILL BE INCREASING AS THE STORM MOVES IN... BEGINNING ON FRIDAY IN SOUTHEASTERN CALIFORNIA AND FAR WESTERN ARIZONA...
