Newbie Looking for help

Hello, I am just getting to the world of nugget hunting and would like to try out the Rye Patch. I have been to the BLM site mapper and I am trying to figure where it is ok to hunt at the Rye Patch. As near as I can figure Sections 17, 16 and 21 do not have any claims on them, but I am not sure. I also do not know about private ownership. I know the even numbered sections belong to the BLM, but I am not sure about the odd numbered sections status, any pointers would be greatly appreciated. I do not want to stepp on any bodys toes or claims. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Paul, I have only been to RP one time but you might want to look into some clubs in the area. These folks might be able to help.

Thank you, I have looked into some clubs and will probably join one. I was thinking of going to Rye Patch to break the ice. I just don't want to get off on the wrong foot with anyone.

A much closer place to Sac would be the old hydraulic pit behind the dump in Foresthill. put this into Google Earth and it will show you where I mean

Thank You, I appreciate the info. I am going to give it a try this weekend. I am still intrested in Rye Patch, but I can wait until I am better aquainted with what I have and what I need to know. I do love the High Desert.
