Uncle Ron
Yo, Rob..I found what appeared to be an awesome meteorite...Even several guys skilled in meteorites thought I had one...Turned out to be an unusually beat up chunk of iron...Oh well, false alarm, I guess...I can't wait until the real deal comes along if just the thrill of thinking I'd found something cool was this great...But I did find a few bits of gold along with it...Just haven't posted those dinks...Cheers, Unc
MrSandsman
I have always wondered how many if any Metors I have thrown to the side thinking they were just another HOTROCK I figure years and years of hunting gold I must have discarded one or 2 over the years but then again who knows .Best of Luck in your questHotRock
Admin nuggethunting Posted October 28, 2007 Admin Report Share Posted October 28, 2007 Hello Uncle Ron, I know exactly what you're talking about. Several years ago Glenn and I were prospecting when we both started picking up iron fragments. I was convinced they were iron meteorites. We both got so freaking excited that we hit a new strewnfield. Later in the day Glenn picked up a piece that has some lines across the metal. This was a bit disappointment, as we knew it now wasn't an new field or meteorite. After doing some research we found out that the area was once used for fragment grenades ... Take care,Rob Allison
