Uncle Ron
Yo All...Got back out to my "black nugget" patch (Ran in to Lou R. on the way,) and went up a little side wash....Deep down in some hot red crumbly bedrock I found this chunky little 0.5 gram nuggy...I think the black rock is hematite...Someone suggested manganese but I don't think so...I found some purple, black and white "ore-ish" looking vein that could be the source and the hematite is more pronounced in it....The coin is an Aussie 1942 3-pence my Dad got when he was there during WWII...I think it's silver....Cheers, Unc

Admin nuggethunting Posted January 22, 2008 Admin Report Share Posted January 22, 2008 Hello Uncle Ron, Congrats on your find. I would agree it's iron mixed with the gold. Very common to have hematite/gold or hematite/gold/quartz. Heard Lou was back in town. Wishing him the best. Take care,Rob Allison
