DOC Posted February 17, 2009 Report Share Posted February 17, 2009 HI MATE....As u could well imagine ...not many people in Victoria have had time to scratch themselves....after a week of not being able to see the sun at all because of smoke it good to be able to breath clean fresh air....There will be more dead found in the comming weeks....i fear will be in excess of 300 people...1800 homes lost as well.NOT withstanding the terrible loss in stock..sheep ,cattle and the wildlife roos.koalas ect.The bush fires are still burning about 14 at the moment but are within containment lines and hopefully they will stay there...But its not likely more hot weather predicted in a week or so...In my view the greenies have a lot to answer for...And the bastards who start these fires should be shot Thank god...the fires were well away from here....closest was 40 ks each side of Shepparton.The area burnt is about 1/2 the size of Navada and one fire front was 80Ks long...inpossible to control....These fires mate were travelling at 80 ks an hour and the radiant heat would have bean unbelievable...fire balls as big as houses were thrown into the air for hundres of yards in front of the main fronts .creating situations of incredible danger for the men on the ground..LOOKING forward it will take many years for the towns lost to rebuild and the bush will regenerate next year...the worst calamity in australian history.Anyway your message was passed on to the people on the ground thank u for that.Bernie cant wait to get to Vegas and see u all again....This is our tripMELBOURNE TO BANKOK TO ATHENS TO SANTORINI(GREEK ISLAND) one week TO WASHINGTON a couple of days then to MENPHIS then to VEGAS via CHICARGO.
