clay
Well Ruby's done it again. That woman does some great research and she's put some more on her Ruby Blog. She's posting a series on the Rich Hill area history that she will update every day or so. This area has a really interesting history, truly the wild west. While you are there you can download the Rich Hill map or one of her print quality maps for free.clayMinerDiggins
clay
Ruby's been real busy, that woman can really do some nice research! If you enjoyed Stanton's newspaper article defending his murder charge, your gonna love the story of the boot full of Gold. If boots don't twirl your beanie I guarantee the (nearly) solid gold frog will make any miner grin. Don't miss the 53 pound Gold brick. clay
Rich Hill was famous worldwide within a year of it's discovery. People from all over the world came there to make their fortune. Read the newspaper article published in New Zealand in 1864 on Ruby's Blog. Reporters from all over were torn between sending stories to their newspapers and picking up some gold. This one picked up over $27 worth on his one day there. Doesn't sound like much until you realize it would be worth about $2000 at today's prices, probably quite a bit more than he was paid to write the story. While you are there check out what Ruby found out about the guy who got a boot full of gold off the Hill. You too could become a leading citizen if you pick up enough gold from the Hill. Don't forget to take a spare boot - unless you want to limp back to town. clayMinerDiggins
