Went down to check out the N fork of the Amarican

Recommended Posts

Well, it was Sunday and saw a little break in the storm and thought I'd go check out what the river looked like after the storms we've been having. I've never been down to the rivers in winter months, and I'm sure I ain't seen nothing yet, but it was pretty cool to see a lot of water flowing compared to what you see in the summer.

Here's a youtube video I made showing what it looks like as of today:

Very cool video thanks for putting it up.

Many of the old timers I met told me to go watch the

rivers at high water, that it was the only way to really

understand what the river was doing. Look particularly for

area's where it's cutting through bars that have been built up

and things like that.

Nowadays with video like this you can make a record of the areas

you are interested in and refer to them in the summer when you

go to hunt.

Looks like there's more to come that's for sure.

Yeah, I have been wanting to go down and see the river when it's high, see what it's doing, and then you have more of an understanding where to look in the spring. One old timer I met down at the river said to look for signs of where the river flowed. He told me one time while prospecting he looked up and in a tree about 14 feet up was a tire hanging in a tree. Nobody climbed up a tree with a tire and put it there. The river put it there.

Words of wisdom.
