adam
Any time there is a warm day or just sunshine, people should be aware that they could be out trying to warm up. Its best to wear guards all the time probably.
Goldarnit
Snakes will come out of their den anytime for awhile if the weather is warm enough. I've seen them out when there was snow on the ground but they were in a spot out of the wind and in the sun where the snow had melted off. My father in law ran into one sunning itself on top of some rocks in the sun when there was deep snow all around also.
