Tortuga
Geoff is a great guy and that's a nice ranch out there. I've bought several meteorites from him over the years at the Gem Show. I wasn't aware of a strewn field or anything west of Tucson but you just never know, they can be found anywhere. The area is also salted with meteorites that they've placed there so the experience would be good for beginners. Be fun to head out to Franconia one day and find some ones out in the wild if I ever get bored with gold.....
DolanDave
Tortuga, Franconia has both meteorites, and I have seen some big gold pulled out of there also.... I believe a forum member here has found a nice multi ouncer nugget in the Franconia area... get out there and get some Dave.

There are quite a few falls west of Tucson Tortuga. Check out the Land Matters Meteorite map for the details.
Tortuga
I have the meteorite database on Google Earth too. Just haven't heard of any strewn fields or large areas where lots of meteorites have been found near town.
