DOC
I did a Specific Gravity on the three specimens I found the other day. Listed in order in which they were found:Specimen1. Dry Weight 6.3 grams Wet Weight 4.6 grams Amount of gold 2.19 grams GOLD2. Dry Weight 4.8 grams Wet Weight 3.8 grams Amount of gold 2.59 grams GOLD3. Dry Weight 13.5 grams Wet Weight 10.2 grams Amount of gold 5.77 grams GOLDSo the total of gold for the three specimens is 10.55 grams or about a 1/3 rd of an ounce. Not bad for a day.At 1184 an ounce for gold, That would be roughly $400 worth of gold. For any of you newer prospectors that do not know how to do Specific Gravity, I have done a You Tube video on doing this one. When I get it edited and uploaded I will post it.I have actually never done a Specific Gravity test before so this is my first time. I hope I went through all of the steps coorectly. Some of the old timers on the forum will double check my work for me.Just for fun I did some other calculations.Just take specimen #2 for example. 54% of the weight of that ore is gold. If you were to find a vein of this type and quality of material, a ton of this ore would produce 500 ounces of gold. That is what you call ridiculously unheard of RICH material. Thanks!Doc
Admin nuggethunting Posted May 10, 2015 Admin Report Share Posted May 10, 2015 Hey Doc, Very interesting. Sure worth checking out the slopes in the area to see if you can track where the vein could be bleeding off from. Could be some nice chucks hanging up higher. Thanks for sharing!!
