Admin nuggethunting Posted January 22, 2017 Admin Report Share Posted January 22, 2017 Hello All, We had a great time at the 2017 Minelab International Partners Conference in Las Vegas (MGM Grand). My wife and I got to meet a bunch of new faces (dealers, distributors and Minelab staff) from all around the Globe. The top award, called the Minelab Eagle Award was given to Miners Keepers in Australia. A great couple that my wife and I got to meet just briefly during the conference. A bunch of known dealers were there, Bill Southern, Doc, AZO, DeMarco, Ron, Gerry's Detectors, Chuck Smalley, Keith and many others (forgive me there was a ton of guys). Chris Ralph and several other guest speakers were also there. We have to razz Steve Herschbach for not showing up!! LOL Overall a great conference and some exciting things to come in the future! DolanDave
Good to hear it was a fun time Rob.... Would be cool if Minelab would release info/ code so other companies like Coiltek, ect could make an aftermarket coil for the 7000. Is the new gold detector Minelab Monster going to be a VLF do you think? Thanks, Dave
jjbond
I concur with Rob, it was a great event and it was awesome finally meeting in person some of the great people (including Rob and his wife), that I've chatted with over the years on these forums. oneday
why would u want to do that Dave? its like Mercedes giving red bull the secrets of their winning motor. u certainly wouldn't want a smaller coil and with the configuration of the coils u would still have a weight problem. sorry we couldn't get to the gathering in Vegas but u never know we might see u all in Australia somewhere. regards oneday
Admin nuggethunting Posted January 26, 2017 Author Admin Report Share Posted January 26, 2017 Hey All, I always wondered why Minelab allows others to build coils for their detectors. I see two sides of it, a lot of aftermarket parts/coils and such which is great for the customer and sales, but on Minelab's side a lot of revenue lost to other companies. Minelab is way more than capable of building all these coils the aftermarket companies are building. I know some have mentioned a smaller coil for the GPZ, but damn the 14x13 is picking up like 1 grain nuggets at or near the surface, I would be scared a smaller coil such as an 11-inch would find micro gold.
