I live in north central Idaho and as far as I can find out there has not been big nuggets in the area. I have never used a Minelab before and I would like some advice on what type of coils you think would be best? Any suggestions on settings would also be helpful.

Thanks

Hello Harleyman,

I would have to agree to Rattlesnake Jim. For the best sensitivity to small gold the Coiltek Joey 10x5 Mono or Minelab 8-inch Round Mono Searchcoils would work best. I would also run the Sensitive mode for small gold on the GPX-4000.

The Coiltek Joey is $199

The Minelab Commander 8-inch is $199.95

These are the new prices, you might be able to find some good used one also.

Wishing you the best of luck,

Rob Allison
