Dutchman
Nice one!! I always wear leather gloves, so don't need to worry about getting stung on the hand by those guys. The biggest hazard in desert is cactus, stickers, catclaw, goatheads and a zillion other stinging and pricking flora and fauna when digging. Gloves are a must as far as I am concerned. A huge centipede was guarding the last pocket of gold I dug. I moved the boulder and he started crawling and slithering around in the hole looking for a place to hide. He was probably 10 inches long and wide as a crawdad. Stuck my coil in there, (after he dove down in a crack out of the way) and I got a good signal. 6 nuggets in all. He's a poor centipede now. Admin nuggethunting Posted August 30, 2008 Admin Report Share Posted August 30, 2008 Hello Lon, Damn! That is big enough to scare a grown up person. If I seen those crawling around I doubt I would be detecting that area. Makes me wonder if it's a real deal. That is pretty huge for a Scorpion.Talk with you later,Rob Allison
Bandana Don
Real? I doubt it! Appears to be trick photography like holding the "thing" close to the camera and placing the people in the background then snapping the pic. I did that once when we caught a baracuda off the fan tail of a Destroyer Escort and the fish looked MUCH larger than it really was. Think I still have the picture of the cuda somewhere.Dan

Uncle Ron
You're right, Don, but it still looks to be about 3" or so long....And it looks like one of those yellow-green ones that can really make you sick...I got stung by a small one through a bed sheet and had some shock problems, racing heart and queazy....Just part of life in the big AZ ...Cheers, Unc
