Admin nuggethunting Posted May 12, 2010 Admin Report Share Posted May 12, 2010 Hello Emamco, If you owned a GPX-4000 or prior PI, yes the Detacc or Goldscreamer (newest edition) would work well. However, since the GPX-4500's stock li-ion battery has a signal enhancer built in and controlled from the "target volume" feature, it would be no benefit to you.Hope this helps,Rob Allison
DOC
The only amp that would be of assistance with the GPX4500 is my amplifer; Doc's Treasure Screamer, which plugs into the battery and uses a 9 volt battery and amplifies the sound after the battery, and really punches it up. You can not use any amplifier that goes before the battery like the DeTacc amplifier because it conflicts with the amplifier inside the battery. However, an amplifier that goes after the battery works fine.Doc

mglgoldstriker
Actually you can use Detacc booster on GPX4500 battery. All you need is to open the battery box, disconnect headphone wires from the PCB and reconnect directly of each in/out ends. This will bypass the built-in amp and there would be no conflict. Also if your built-in amp gets noisy this will solve the problem. However, mind that this will VOID WARRANTY, so think twice before tinkering. Admin nuggethunting Posted May 27, 2010 Admin Report Share Posted May 27, 2010 Hello Emamco, I would recommend you wait for about a month at the most, that is all I can say. What is coming out might just answer the question you asked. The external Signal Enhancers, such as the new Goldscreamer is much more cleaner than the one built into the GPX-4500 stock Li-Ion Battery. Hope this helps a bit,Rob Allison
