Admin nuggethunting Posted January 21, 2014 Admin Report Share Posted January 21, 2014 Hello All, This picture is courtesy of another site, but here is what they have for a fake GPX 5000 vs. a Genuine Minelab GPX 5000 Control Box. Hopefully no one out there has one like the fake one ....

Roo
Fakes everywhere these days. I like fishing and found out that some of the good brand lines are now being faked. Sheesh, even fishing line! There's no stopping them either.
adam
Rob, that's a reality check for sure. Not a whole lot of difference ......Glad I don't have to worry about it..
Gravelwasher
Has anyone heard if they work even half as good as a genuine? Just curious, don't stone me for asking..lol
Roo
Not even half, they're junk and contain cheap VLF guts, the one I know of did, rubbish like the Aussie (really Chinese) Goldsnoops. An $80 detectors guts in a fake GPX box!
AZNuggetBob
Roo I agree some do have cheap VLF guts (components) I also read that Minelab along with the Dubai goverment put a stop to one of the major manufacturers/distributors of the fakes. I've seen several varieties over the last few years based on construction. origin not sure but could have been from the same source?. gus in idaho
The new 5000's should also have the Minelab hologram sticker on the side of the control box.

Gravelwasher
When will we be able to get a two in one unit? A VLF switch and a PI too, would be nice to carry one detector. A Goldbug Pro and a GPX5000 would be a blast..lol I know keep dreaming
Roo
Don't worry Adam, I hold the Bugs in high regard. I talking about the stupid chinese machines that are sold here. They are sold here for around $300 to $400 by one dealer relabelled as a Gold Snoop. Ha ha, Aldi stores had them a few weeks ago here for just $80 or $90 Yeah Bob, they can put a stop to them but those fakers are like flies, as soon as you shoo one away another will take its place Mongrels are wrecking everything.
