Admin nuggethunting Posted June 27, 2014 Admin Report Share Posted June 27, 2014 Hey Guys, Managed to get out for about 4 hours this afternoon. The weather was actually pretty nice, cloud cover and a slight breeze. Managed to dig a bunch of trash in some new area, but also scored 4 nuggets. Three small ones that added up to .6 Dwt's, the largest was the fourth nugget at 1.6 Dwt's. Total at the end of the day was 2.2 Dwt's. I was able to eat a McDonald's meal after finding those ..... LOL Thought you might enjoy. Rob Allison

Buckeye Boy
Hi Rob, Good job on finding a new area. I think I figured out why some of us weigh our gold in grams and not dwt's. It is because a pennyweight seems so big we have had to lower of standard to something more achievable. Great job.AJ
Relichunter2
Rob, congrats on being able to get out to do some hunting....and you scored !!
Admin nuggethunting Posted June 27, 2014 Author Admin Report Share Posted June 27, 2014 Hey Guys, Thanks for the comments. AJ - Haha .... I've always weighted in Dwt's, so I hate to change. Grams always seems like so much more. I know there is more gold, maybe some bigger, but the ratio of trash to gold is very high (20-30 pieces of trash per nugget if you're lucky). 1dredger
Nice nuts, DWT is the standard for weigh gold right? I have for over 20 years.
Admin nuggethunting Posted June 28, 2014 Author Admin Report Share Posted June 28, 2014 Hey 1dredger, I think it's just simple as you have 20 Dwt to a Troy Ounce. You know 5 Dwt's is 1/4 ounce, 10 is 1/2 ounce, 15 is 3/4 ounce and such.

LuckyLundy
Dwt is simple to figure...people, tell me I got a 1.7 gram nugget and what's left of my brain try's to convert the math without a calculator in hand. I keep it simple by just saying, Sweet! lolLuckyLundy

Admin nuggethunting Posted June 29, 2014 Author Admin Report Share Posted June 29, 2014 Hey Azblackbird, For years I used a Dillon Precision Reloading Scale that weighed up to like 500 grains. I think I had a few nuggets back then that might have tilted the scale, but for the most part, the majority of them were 50 grains and under. Very sensitive scales for the little nuggets.
