Admin nuggethunting Posted May 24, 2015 Admin Report Share Posted May 24, 2015 Hello All, I was able to get out Friday to hit a few old patches for a few hours. The weather was fabulous, probably around 65 degrees where I was. Nothing impressive as far as find, the 9 dinks total up to 2.2 Grams of gold. Hoping to get one more day in this weekend before the Holiday weekend is over. I need another 5 Grams to maintain my average per weekend. Nice thing with the GPZ, I haven't been skunked yet, don't plan on it either!
Tortuga
Nice gold. I had a little streak going too where I wouldn't get skunked with the GPZ but eventually it ended. I think it was the area more than the machine tho, cuz I was hunting really hard there. Low and slow. The last bit of gold I found was actually with my SDC 2300 out of pure convenience cuz I wanted to put it in the pack and do a little hiking around. I'm at over a half ounce for the year now with my two Minelabs, couldn't be happier.
Big Ed
Hey Rob, About the GPZ 7000, Ive been running a friends GPZ, and that thing is to short-upper & lower rods. My back was killing me, I'm 6'-4", and I bought longer lower fiberglass rod for my GP 3500, that I bought from you, then when I orderered my GPX 5000 I got the longer carbon fiber Upper & lower rod's. It looks like you would not be able to due that with the GPZ 7000, because the cable run's inside the upper and lower rods?Take care, Ed
Admin nuggethunting Posted May 25, 2015 Author Admin Report Share Posted May 25, 2015 Hey Ed, Ya, that was the first thing I noticed with the GPZ 7000 that there is a very small percentage of guys that are 6 foot 3 +, making it a much shorter detector for them. The options of the older GPX series and down allows you to use longer upper shafts and longer lowers to make up for length. I haven't heard of any longer lowers or anything as of yet. I think you could probably stretch the cord a bit more inside if needed.
