Detecting instruction today

Recommended Posts

Today, I took Randy Nickels out for some instruction on the used 2200 he bought, Randy lives in Oakhurst Ca, and post on the forums as Dtectorist. Anyway we went out on property I have hunted before, and has produced some good gold. No gold for either of us today, but lots of relics, I found an old sper, it looks really old, not sure, looks Mexican, all iron. heres pictures. Grubstake

Grub, that's a very nice find! Sweetie (my wife) has a bit of an ebay business going and has sold a couple of pairs of spurs for some pretty good $$$...($150+)! And they were not too terribly old.

It may be worth your while to do a bit of research on that thing! If it's possible for you to gently clean it, look for any kind of a maker's mark or initials. If not, then you've got a really nice "Old West" relic that should be worth something! If you don't want to sell it, then you've got one heck of a relic from the Old West. Any way you look at it, sweeeeet!!

HH, ya'll!

Hello Grubstake,

I found one similar to that one about a year ago down South. Mine had a few small markings on the outside of the spur, but since it was so rusted it was tough to make them out. Just makes you wonder who was wearing it and how they lost it. Good piece of history to find.

Take care,

Rob Allison
