Hello All,

I finally received the first batch of Coiltek Goldstalker Searchcoil covers for the new 14 & 18.5-inch ellipticals. If you're still waiting to get one of these, please give me a call, email me or contact me through this forum. I know many customers were waiting a replacement coil cover to have.

Price is $28.00 for either size + shipping.

Take care,

Rob Allison

Hi Rob,

Hope you will not mind a gentle reminder saying that it is ultra important

that the tape holding the coil cover onto the Goldstalker (or any), coil

is kept in pristine condition.

Most of us are and have to be, fairly aggressive using our coils and the tape

is easily abraded and torn. If that happens you will almost immediately

start collecting fine dirt etc. between the coil and the cover which leads

to a condition where you cannot tune the detector.

The condition tends to develop slowly and it has confounded many

very experienced prospectors.

Just a well-ment reminder for your customers...

All the best,

Flak

I have been taping the inside and outside of my Goldstalker 18". I have been using what is called grip tape, not the stuff you use on a skateboard  but what movie grips use on sets, it is a cloth like tape. I get it at pro camera shops. I read somewhere that some duct tape (ducktape) is actually conductive and may desensitize the detector. Anyone else heard of this.

I've been using different types of tape,

trying to find one kind that is stronger than the other.

The recommended tape that is used on the coils when

they come from the factory seems to be the best overall for me.

Sometimes I wonder whether coil covers are the way to go.

They probably are, but I seem have a penchant for getting

lots of dirt between the coil and the cover.
