benz
The gp3000 is a awesome detector. The depth and sensitivity are the same as the the newer machines. However in very hot ground the 3000 can be noisy. And yes its better than the extreme.
LuckyLundy
Benz, your drinking again, lol! Now I know you simply love your 3000 (AKA Patch Depleter). Wish my GP Extreme, was in my garage...sent my trusty old 4000 in yesterday for a tune up and lube job...might upgrade to the 4700, lolRick
Admin nuggethunting Posted October 23, 2013 Admin Report Share Posted October 23, 2013 Hey Guys,Both the Extreme and. 3000 are great. I found some of my biggest gold with the Extreme to date. I think the newer GPX series have advantages over these, maybe not so much in pure depth.
frank c
I can tell you a major difference between the GP Extreme and the GP3000/3500 series Threshold or simply smoothness of threshold , you should hear a difference with the GP Extreme being a "noisier" threshold. I've used all 3 and that seems to me to be the biggest difference.
AUDuke
Thanx Guys, Guess I will get the 3000
Hawkeye
I have to agree that my Extreme had a noisier threshold than my 3000. I would get the 3000. Actually if you could find a 3500 I would get that.
AUDuke
Have located a 3000 and a Extreme for the same price. The 3000 comes with 3 coils, the Extreme with two stock coils DD & mono
Admin nuggethunting Posted October 24, 2013 Admin Report Share Posted October 24, 2013 Hey AUDuke, Go with the GP3000 if you can for the same price. That being said, the GP Extreme's were strange. What I mean is, you could get 10 GP Extreme's and maybe 2-3 would perform the same. You would have 2-3 really hot ones, maybe a bit noisier, but better performance, 2-3 average ones and maybe a few that were not as sensitive. I had a "Extremely" hot GP Extreme, but a partner had a dud! Another friend had a average one, but they all came from the same batch. This seemed like the trend with them, but they all still outperformed anything else on the market hands down, even the average GP Extreme's. This was just my evaluation, but a few others seemed to agree back them. Great to have you on the forums. Rob Allison
AUDuke
Thanx Rob; The 3000 coils are Coiltec open spider oval about 18 or 20 inches by about 10" and the other is a Nugget Finder solid appox. 14x8" ,the third is stock mono.
