  1. Hello Glenn, Thanks for the report. I would assume that is the Helo that you're sitting in. Does that ship carry any nuclear warheads? Can't remember what type of ship your Son was on. The Helo's detector might not work well for prospecting, but just imagine having a Helo for exploring the report areas. Zooming up and down canyons .... Talk with you later, Rob Allison
  2. Hello Gary, Sounds good! Looking forward to hearing Rod's report on the software. I really don't think I personally need it since I have so many old bulletins, USGS reports, old books and such I have collected over the last 10 years. I have so many places to check out it would take a lifetime to get to them all. I know the software makes it much easier to zoom into a spot. Sometimes I hate to research cause I have to dig all my stuff out and sometimes I can't find what I'm looking for. I seen you're running an ad on your software in the ICMJ. Talk with you soon, Rob Allison
  3. Hello Mike, I have an old Coiltek 14-inch Mono here that is really beat down! I found a bunch of gold with it over the years, but absolutely wore it apart. I think I stopped using it cause it was getting really noisy. I believe the coil got real noisy when I wore out the bottom and top of the searchcoil and moisture got into the coil. You think there is any way we can repair this coil? I also seen where you modified where the coil cable entered the searchcoil. Talk with you soon, Rob Allison
  4. Hello 29Prospector, Sorry I've been kind of idle on your posts. I really enjoy them cause I used to do a lot of drywashing myself. I really enjoy hearing about drywashing, vac-pacing, dredging and other methods besides just electronic prospecting. Sounds like the hole is producing good values. Amazing the old-timers didn't work the area more, or did they in other spots nearby? Also, just as a suggestion when you make a post, you don't have to hit the "reply" tab on people's post. This will make a "Quote" on every post. It's easier to just scan down to the bottom of the page and hit "Add Reply," which will elliminate the "Quote" to be posted on every post. You can do it either way, just wanted to tell you how to elliminate the quote section. Talk with you soon, Rob Allison
  5. Hello All, Good friend and customer Dave M. from Ohio sent over these photo's. They were taken a few weeks ago at the famous "Pay-to-Mine" Moore Creek Operation in Alaska. Take a look at what the new Waterproof Coiltek Platypus found! This coil is an absolute sleeper and I can't keep the damn things in stock. I'm hoping Dave will post more details of the trip and weights. Congrats to you Dave! Rob Allison
  6. Hello Guys, I would just like to add what I know about the data information. Some of the information, especially the placer info is way off. The locations are sometimes as far off as Mountain ranges. I have no clue where the original information came from, but some is very unaccurate. However, on the flip side, some is very accurate .... Go figure ... Just don't put all your faith into what the data says or you will be running "Goose Chases!" Although, that just might make you stumble onto something else on your hunt. I never used the HystWare program, but Gary and I have talked over email a lot about the software. Gary, if you want to send out a FREE copy to me I will give you my honest opinion. I know Arizona pretty damn well and have tons of old publications most will never get their hands on. Some of this information has lead me into some very good placer locations over the years and most of it is unpublished. The screenshots on Rod's forum looked slick. Could be a great tool to examine stuff at home. However, we all know you still have to do the groundwork. Take care, Rob Allison
  7. Hello Chuck, Well this is probably one of my best packages you will see. You're getting a lot of accessories with this bundle package, including the new Coiltek Pocket Rocket System. This is newest, lightest Li-Ion Regulated Battery System available for the Minelab SD/GP's. With this system you get (2) 7800mah Li-Ion Batteries, Smart 12v car/Wall Charger, Adjustable Regulator (6.7 or 7.3v) & Small carry pouch which can be mounted on the detector's control box cover. Along with the battery system, you also all the other stuff for FREE! I've already had one customer purchase one of the deals and it's only been listed for 2 days! Don't worry, I have all the stuff in stock. P.S. Thanks for all the Loyal Customers out there. Lamar, you have been great and purchased a lot of stuff. Customers and friends like you keep me going! Detector sales slowed down just a tad, but the accessories and searchcoils are still moving very well. Take care, Rob Allison
  8. Hello All, Sorry it took a bit too long to get back with you. Yes, they are pottery shards. I believe I seen a small Indian type foundation on the next ridge, but was too lazy to check it out. I don't like to disturb the Indian relics, they are amazing people and I really respect them. Just wanted to let you know that pottery shards can be found with a metal detector. I know several locations where there are tons of shards and even some very old foundations. However, I would never tell a sole! Take care, Rob Allison
  9. Hello Glenn, I know you didn't leave it. I think you got all the other 1+ ouncer besides that one. Since it was already pre-dug it threw off your sences on that one, but if it was still in the ground you would have found that one also! You need to stick around there a bit more and let Leaverite and I find some more gold. Good to hear you're having fun. Rob Allison
  10. Hello Jim P., Well someday you will have to join us when you have time for your friends! I think you're only interested when I come home with ounces. You would rather sleep on the weekends than find dinks! Leaverite and I were both hoping the area would have been a bit more extensive, but we did find some other spots that need investigation. Just too hot to do much right now with the heat. P.S. Jim, I have the "Gold Bug" bad again. I have no clue what sparked my interests to hunt for gold now .... Why can't I get the bug during the Winter seasons ... There will be some big discoveries this Winter, been doing a bunch of research in remote areas and it looks promising. Talk with you soon, Rob Allison
  11. Hello Guys, I posted a picture below of the location where Rich found the nugget. Look towards the bottom right and you will see a small "Yellow X" marking the find location. I know I wasn't on that pile, but looked at it several times figuring it was pounded to death. Glenn - Hope your having fun on the Naval Ship. Rob Allison
  12. Hello Mike, Thanks for sharing your find. Hope you didn't take it personal when I was razzing you about not posting your finds here anymore. Been following your posts over on Bill's forum and it looks like you and Gary have been doing well. Leaverite and I spent the last couple of days working a few areas. We were able to snag (6) nuggets between us for the two days, but I think the areas are now pretty exhausted. Tough to do any serious hiking this time of year. P.S. You using the GP3500? What searchcoil did you find it with? Take care, Rob Allison
  13. Hello All, My good friend, Rich Lampright, finally arrived back from Moore Creek, Alaska. Here is a picture of the gold he found during a one week visit. The biggest nugget weights 2.66 ounces and was left in the hole by someone from the first or second week. Rich sent a picture of the location, so I know it wasn't me! However, I know several other guys during the first week that were on that pile. I sure hope it wasn't one of them. Congrats Rich! Hope your Father's health is doing well also. Rob Allison
  14. Hello All, Curious if you know what this stuff is? It SCREAMED on the GP3500 today. Yes, I know what it is, just curious if you do ... More to the story tonight. Rob Allison
  15. Hello Guys, These are just my opinions, but this is how I run my detector and I can't complain. I can find the 1-2 grain dinks and deeper stuff when it's there. For shallow bedrock hunting conditions I run the GP3500 in "Fixed, Sensitive & Normal." For areas where I think there is potential for large gold nuggets at depth, I will run the GP3500 in "Fixed, Normal & Deep." If I'm hunting for small nuggets at depth, I will run the GP3500 in "Fixed, Sensitive & Deep." There are rumors/reports that if you run a GP3500 in these settings you will loose large gold at depth. I'm not sure there is any solid evidence of this at least here in the States. I found several large nuggets running these exact settings ... so go figure! The hole was well over two foot deep! P.S. Thanks for all the kind words. I appreciate all your business. It's YOU that keeps this small "Mom & Pop" dealer a float. Take care, Rob Allison
  16. Hello Bob, As far as tuning, I'm not even using the "Auto Tune," just the "Manual Tune" knob. If the noise gets bad I will turn the Manual Knob about a 1/2 turn one way or the other. It seems to eliminate the interference immediately. Give it a shot out your way and see how it does. Yes, the Quartzsite region is a few degrees hotter than Phoenix or the Bradshaw's. You have to be a real trooper to hunt the Quartzsite area right now. However, I kind of like the peace and quiet. Just been finding dinks Bob. It's close and I can get out for a few hours with a good shot of finding something. I have a good game plan for this winter season though. Talk with you soon, Rob Allison
  17. Hello Uncle Ron, I haven't weighed them as of yet, but I wouldn't suspect more than maybe a 1.5 Dwt's total. Most of the gold in this area is small, but normally you can get at least a couple of nuggets for a short morning hunt. Uncle Ron, I would invite you any weekend to join, but there are no gaurantees anyone will hit. It's a long haul from Wickenburg to come hunt dinks with us! You need to get over there where Mike and Gary are hunting. They don't post their finds here, I guess I run a "Rogue Forum!" Speaking of the Cemetary Flats Ron. I met an older couple, very stand-offish, several years down there before the famous Tongue nugget was discovered. This couple was hunting down there for a long time and sparked my curiousity. One weekend I drove down there and asked if they were having any luck. They pretty much tried to BS me, but I told them, "No one in their right mind hunts the same spots for months without any success." They pretty much knew they couldn't fool me and showed me their finds. Let me just put it this way, they had a shoe box full of specimen gold ranging from very small pieces to pieces well over a pound in size. I couldn't even tell you the weight of the gold, but I would just guess around 200 ounces! If people only knew what was really down there before the modern day rush happened. Talk with you later, Rob Allison
  18. Hello All, Many of the Minelab users hunting around Central Arizona might notice the non-stop airplane traffic over the Bradshaw Mountain Range. I know it's worse than ever, but found a very simple solution on the GP3500 that works! This doesn’t just work for airplanes, but been experimenting with all type of interference such as power lines, airplanes and even some weather conditions. The solution is to turn your "Manual Tune" button about 1/2 turn in any direction (clockwise or counter close wise). The last 3-4 times out the interference has been bad and by simply turning the "Manual Tune" button I have completely eliminated it all. I know I could never due this with the SD, GP3000 or GP Extreme. The Manual Tune in my opinion works much better than the "Auto Tune." Give it a whirl and see how it works for you. Rob Allison
  19. Hello All, Leaverite and I decide to leave at 3:30am and head into the central goldfields of Arizona. We wanted to clean out a spot we found about a week ago where we found a few nuggets late in the evening. We thought the spot might show better potential, but we did manage to find (5) small nuggets from the location today. Around 6am I walked right onto a beautiful Rattlesnake just waiting for the summer sun to set. He was pretty much curled up until he seen me and took off buzzing away! Well was able to get back home and meet with a few customers before it got too late. Hope you're all finding that Yellow Metal also. Rob Allison
  20. Hello Lotsa Luck, I think SD2100 has a lot of options and can see why people love them. I know when I used the SD2100 I found pounds of gold and didn't complain a minute. Well, until the GP Extreme came out and then I knew what I really missed! You still heading out this weekend? Talk with you soon, Rob Allison
  21. Hello Lotsa Luck, The only problem when running the SD at such a high voltage is overheating. The added voltage is very hard on the electronics regardless of what anyone says. I think any SD user is pressing their luck running a unit at 8 volts. They are just asking for a detector failure, but maybe you will find that nugget that will pay for many detectors! I think if you stay within 7.2 - 7.5 you're safe, but pushing it beyond that up to 8+ volts .... Take care, Rob Allison
  22. Hello Lamar and All, Well I have used all the SD's and GP's for a long time and this is what I know from my experiences. The SD's didn't perform well with the conventional DD's in my opinion. I always used a Mono coil on the SD's no matter where I was hunting. If the ground was too hot for a mono, I would just lift the coil off the ground about 1/2 - 1 inch. The normal DD's just didn't have the punch (depth) nor sensitivity like a Mono coil. Now, the DD Pro's are a different story. They seem to work much better than the old DD's and even better if you're using a regulated battery system. Now the GP's seem to do much better with the DD's and I believe it due to the added sensitivity of the unit over the SD's. Whenver I can I will use a Mono coil, but since the GP's are so sensitivity it's tough to run a Mono in certain highly mineralized areas. In these places I favor a DD Pro on the GP series. If I can hunt with a Mono I will. There is no doubt a Mono gets more depth and senstivity over a DD and even a DD Pro. However, there are places where you can't use a Mono well, so you're limited to a DD or DD Pro coil. P.S. All the SD2100 users also have the option to experiment around with the Channel 1 & 2 settings (rather than running in Search Mode). This gives the user many more options to play around with on extremely mineralized ground. Some SD2100 users are have good success using this combination (Channel 1, Large Mono Coil + Regulated Battery System pushing 7.5 - 8.0 volts to the Searchcoil). Do you smell smoke yet? Hope this helps a bit, Rob Allison
  23. Hello Steve, Thanks for the update. Did you happen to hear how much Rich Lampright got other then the 2.75 ouncer? Wish I was retired Steve, I would come up to the mine for about a month and just take it easy. Do a bit of detecting, high-banking, sight seeing and the good old BSing around the campfire! I know if I stayed for a couple of weeks I would spend a few days high banking the virgin ground. I was impressed with the amount of gold that was coming out of there for short amount of time people were shoveling. Heck, a DWT an hour isn't bad and you just might get lucky and dig up a nice nugget to boot. P.S. Curious why no one has tried to high-bank the tailing piles? I think since it's such easy digging, someone could dig a crap load of material and then detect the area they dug out. Dig a bit, toss the material into the high-banker, and then detect the area you dug out. This way you would always get some gold, but never know you might just detect a very nice nugget at the same time! I was tempted to try this method .... Any thoughts .... Rob Allison
  24. Hello Everyone, I stayed up very late last night and seen an advertisement for a "Global Warming" program that will be on the TV this coming week or weekend. I was so tired, but seen the ad twice last night. I believe it said this coming Sunday, but I could be wrong. Might be something interesting to watch, but when it comes to Global Warming there are so many sides to it. Funny, when I graduated High School back in 1990 I wrote a long 10-paged report about Global Warming back then. I sure wish I had that report now, cause I did some serious research for about a half-year before I wrote the report. Not like Global Warming is something new, it's just a cycle of the Earth. Like the old saying" Nature Knows Best!" Rob Allison
  25. Hello Guys, Thanks for the comments. I believe I have one of the only new Minelab SD2100v2's left in stock. It sounded like the SD2100's might be completely discontinued, but haven't heard it from the "Horse's Mouth" as of yet. This is a great unit and I really hate to sell it as it's a great back-up unit to the GP3500. I heard there is a very .... very limited amount of GP3500's right now. Pretty much what the dealers have in stock is all you're going to get until August. I still have a pretty good batch of them left, but heard some dealers are completely out and won't be able to order them until late July possibly early August. P.S. I will sell anyone a Minelab Coffee Cup at $25,000.00 and will include the 6.5 Pound Nugget with the sale. Heck, that sounds like an Ebay Ad, 6.5 pound nugget!!!! Take care, Rob Allison
