grubstake
Chris put a post on AZO about the rain, waterfall and a tree stuck by lighting, I put a reply saying how it was Platypus coil time with the water. It's gone! Talk about being one sided, they come on here and talk about there NF coils. But when you put up a post about a coiltek, on there forum, it gets ZAPPPPED GRubstake
Admin nuggethunting Posted September 10, 2006 Admin Report Share Posted September 10, 2006 Hello Grubstake, I have no comments on that. They know I use NF coils, still have two of them in my arsenal. I think they make great coils just like Minelab and Coiltek. From largest to smallest here is what I have in my coil collection:NF 20-inch SL DD RoundNF 16-inch SL Mono RoundCoiltek 17-inch Wallaby DD ProCoiltek 17-inch Wallaby MonoCoiltek 17-inch Wallaby Mono R-FactorCoiltek 14-inch Round MonoCoiltek 14-inch Round AI Coiltek Joey MonoMinelab 8-inch Commander MonoMinelab 11-inch Stock GP3500 DDDo you need this many coils? NO! However, I think I have all bases covered. The bulk of my collection and what I use is Coiltek. Surprised? Didn't think so ... grubstake
I just thought is was kind of Chicken S---, you don't deleat there post, just because you don't sell NF coils. Kind of one sided. They come here, JP and Montana and make post about NF coils. they don't get deleated. The forums are supposed to be for imformation. Not coil wars. My opion, thanks forbeing open mineded and having an open forum, no matter what brand. Grubstake
29prospector
First: ROB,Thanks for the honesty. That is why I joined this forum. Everyone has there special coil. You guys with the Minelabs can go broke trying to stay up. Yet all oppions are accepted here. Thanks be to ytou for that. Now Grubstake, Let them zap all they want. The proof is in the pudding....... And I do believe you have plenty of proof. So from my point of view, their lose not yours. Glad to see you stressed about something else, means your getting back to normal. Now to both of you: My GB2 with 2 coils works just fine, its 70 degrees out and I'm loaded to go drywash for the day. But I have one little problem, My Broncos are playing at 10 am.What to do? mine or football? silly me, its mining.Old
eodseal2000
Rob You don't have a PLATYPUS? The Platypus is a hot coil, if you get it over gold, you'll find it. Alan

Lamar
Dear Rob;I'm suprised at you , my friend. I also have 10 coils and 7 are CTK and 3 are ML. If I had to whittle them down to just 4, they would be the 14" CTK mono, the Wallaby DD Pro the Platypus and the Joey mono. Yep, all orange and all proven nugget catchers!Your friend;LAMARDear grubstake;Well, of course your reply got zapped my friend! What were you thinking? You can never ever mention that filthy "C" word on that forum. Now, if you had posted some porn then I'm sure they would have allowed that. Sheesh, get with the program, my friend!Your friend;LAMAR
rexb
Heck,The platypus is made specifically for water from what I've heard, sounds like a natural comment to make, guess it could be taken wrong though. As everyone will agree, posts are less likely to be deleted on AZO, oh well, guess that one sat wrong at the moment.
Jonathan Porter
Grubstake whats this they business? I have no control over what is deleted on any forum let alone the AZO one . My replys on this forum were in direct response to misconceptions about a product I am very passionate about, in all fairness to Rob some of the dicussion became heated and as such probably could have done with deletion (although I have to say I've witnessed far worse left up on here in the past, but that is Rob's choice ).Anyway this is the peppiest I've seen any forum for a long while, so perhaps a little FLAMING is good for business It's nice to see so many people feeling so strongly about their detecting equipment, electronic prospecting is a alive and well!!! Oh and just for the record I have a few orange beasties of my own in the back of my truck and have probably found more gold with them than Rob himself (one of them weighed 20 ounces on its own). Admin nuggethunting Posted September 10, 2006 Admin Report Share Posted September 10, 2006 Hello All, As for asking me if I personally own a Platypus, I gave my test Platypus to Grubstake and he has beaten the hell out of it and it's still finding gold. When dredging season come back around here I will have a Coiltek Platypus to check all my holes on bedrock. Last year doing this we found a couple of small ones that we didn't extract from the bedrock. Now when it comes to this forum (my nuggethunting.com forum) I can't control what people say. I can delete the post if needed and even BAN them if they would get out of control. However, for the most part I try to allow people to voice their own opinions about whatever. By doing this I allow people that are interested in a particular product to get familiar with the pro's & con's. Keep in mind, people can read between the lines very easily so they can see how you run your business and what you allow and don't allow. I only speak for myself; I can't control how others run their forum or business. Lamar - The ORANGE coils like to track down the YELLOW! Good to hear you're having great success with the Coiltek line of coils. J. Porter - I know you have found a lot more gold than most know about, and a lot of that gold was found originally with Minelab/Coiltek, but now you choose Nuggetfinder. You know I don't have a problem with that and it's good to hear you're finding gold. I'm positive you have found more gold with your Coiltek coils than I have in the past. You have any old pictures? grubstake
JP, when I say they, it means anyone in control of AZO. I put the post up about the platypus coil, in responce to Chris's post about the rain, since it is the only coil currently on the market that is 100% water proof. Its good to have a coil you can hunt in the rain with, without worring its going to get fried. There was nothing in the post either for or against NF coils. only a statement from me saying the platypus was a waterproof coil. But they seen fit to deleate it. so be it. GrubstakePersonally I wouldn't be detecting in the rain even if I was using a Platypus coil because the control box is definitely not water proof!! However if it was a running/flowing creek on a rain free day then that coil would probably have some merit.JP
grubstake
Well I'm smart enough to cover my control box. With a little thinking, its easy to do. Not trying to get into a pissing match with you JP, I have nothing personal aginst any of you. I only met you one time for a minute at Rich Hill. Your like everyone else, you find gold, they find gold. Your lucky enough to make a living at detecting and promoting products. Good on you for the way you live. But I'm honest too! And when I say its good, it is, for me. Grubstake
Jonathan Porter
Grubstake I have nothing against you either mate, but I do get a little annoyed when I am accused of pushing or selling a product when more often than not I am either correcting miss-conceptions or just talking about my own successes. However some of the posts made by your good self do smack of salesmanship and I quote Anyone that does not own one of these coils is missing the boat! I have found 7-8 oz's with mine in just a few trips. #1 coil coiltek has, waterproof! winter will surely get here. great bargin. GET one now before its to late. Grubstake this post is on the Yank Aussie Prospecting forum under the banner Platypus,Platypus,Platypus etc.Does it really matter what you swing so long as it works. I've had success with all sorts of coils with my Minelab PI's including a few coils you will never hear about, these also produced the goods for me (one of them found me over 150 OZ in one afternoon )I would never promote a product if I did not beleive in it, period... The Nugget Finder coils perform in spades regardless of the material used in their construction, but that does not mean Coiltek coils don't and for the life of me I cannot understand why everytime the word Nugget Finder is mentioned Coiltek users take it so personally . I have found more than my fair share of gold with Coiltek coils but things have changed, no different than once upon a time I found my fair share of gold with a Whites GM2, this does not mean to say the Whites is not capable of finding a nugget anymore than I am saying the Coiltek coils no longer find gold, its just that we have more choices now than we did a few years back.RegardsJonathan PorterBTW Grubstake I have never once said you are dishonest, nor even thought it mate. The world is a big place and I am sure there is plenty of room for people to detect in regardless of what colour the coil. Crikey I'm starting to sound "politically correct" . buffaloearl
I'm with you Grubstake my friend and I don't even own a minelab or a coiltek coil, keep up the gold finding with the platy coil my friend. Buffalo Earl.
grubstake
JP, I don't make a cent from telling people what I beleive to be good equipment. Here where I and most of my friend detect, if you don't detect while it is rain, or misting. Your missing some of the best detecting. I admitte, ROB gave me this coil, the Platypus, it was sitting in AZ on the shelf, no one would give it a chance, because it was water proof, not many places to use it to its full extent. I took it out, and on the first run with it, found gold nice gold. I have been useing it ever since. The guys I hunt with have seen firsthand what this waterproof coil can do! Not hype, the truth. I am very passionate about something that finds gold as easy as this coil does. and the versiltily of it. I believe everyone should have one in the batch of coils. With me its cut and dry. If its good I want everyone to have a go at it. if its something bad, well I want people to know. My uncle use's a 14 E NF elliptical, he loves it. But was very dissapionted, when they started making all there coils with that switch on them. If not for that he would buy more NF coils, he likes them.We both run the 2200's so basicly there is no reason for the switch for us. If its a good product, I'm going to holler about it, if its bad I'm going to do the same thing. People have a right to know. thats what the forums are about! IMFORMATION. Have a good day JP. no hard feelings on my part. Grubstake
Jonathan Porter
Hello Grubstake, you can tell your uncle that the latest XP variant DD coils from Nugget Finder no longer have the switch mounted on the coil, it is now housed inline up near the cable end connector with a neat little clip which mounts onto your stem and is completely water proof .JPPS sounds like the Platypus coil is right up your alley where you detect, I'm surprised you don't own a Garrett Infinium, submersible, handles power lines, American made etc etc
Wirechief
Hello JP, Do you still have the Garrett Infinium you used in your video ? Did you and Chris find any good gold while he was visiting you ? Is Nuggetfinder going to stay with the plastic for their coils ? I can't imagine the time saved by using plastic now. Do you know if Nuggetfinder is going to get into making coils for the Explorer's and Sovereigns ? I sure hope they do and it would allow me to enter the Nuggetfinder market more easily. Ok JP I hope all is going well for you and CU later. God Bless.John Tomlinson, CETJohn's Detectors

grubstake
JP, I used to own a few Garrett detectors, but they got cheap on the material they made the white coils out of, egg shell thin. I haven't tried them since, I have 3 minelab, a Soverine, a excallibur and the 2200sd. Got it all covered. Don't see any reason to switch, when I already own the best. Lamar
Dear Gribstake;I too have a Platypus coil and it is a very nice coil, although I must admit that I haven't given it much of a chance as yet. I like the SD2100/CTK 14" round mono combo too much to use anything else at this point, but when the wet season kicks in, then the Platy is going to be seeing a lot more action from me.Your friend;LAMAR
grubstake
You'll like it, I'm sure, its my main coil up here, the brush is thick, the morning dew is wet, when it rains, its like a heavy fog, most of the time, you can stick it in the creeks, and I use mine in the snow. We are just getting into our prime hunting time here. Cooler weather, and the frost is not far away. Take care Lamar. Grubstake
rexb
Sounds like the smoky mountains a little bit. It rains every few days part of the day it seems. Lots of precipitation in the air, you can almost feel it hit your face like a fine mist once in a while.
grubstake
Yeh in the late fall and winter, we get valley fog, so thick, its like rain. you can't see two ft. in front of you, lots of auto accidents. I don't know how many times I have been in Merced or Fresno, and couldn't even see the traffic lights. or an oncoming car. Bad stuff. and most times does ot lift until noon or later, and then back at 5 pm or so. Just part of the way we have to live here.
