  1. Hey Guys, Grubstake - Ya, I seen them. Pretty good demo of a Garrett ATX, but then again it don't show the sound on the original target, which I would of liked to seen or heard. The target was partially already dug when the video started from what I seen. Steve H. - First, I would agree the ATX is not going to contend against the GPX 5000. I'm not sure it's even going to run against a GP series, but I also believe Garrett knows this. I firmly believe they designed this unit to catch the nitch market PI price range of $2000-$2500, which Minelab gave up when they discontinued the Minelab SD2100V2. I'm not going to talk for Minelab, but believe they lost a lot of business in that range for several years when they dropped this unit. I believe Garrett seen it, heard about the demand for a unit in this range and jumped on it. I have a least a dozen potential customers right now waiting for me to test this unit. They have told me if I think it's a decent PI for entry level nugget hunting, they want one. This business would have went to a Minelab detector if it was available. I'm sure overall there are hundreds of customers just waiting to hear some solid field reports on this unit and they are going to purchase the ATX. Secondly, I agree the Infinium LS wasn't a bit hit for nugget hunting. Many of the guys that I knew that purchased them, sold them within months of owning them. The lack of sensitivity to small gold with the stock DD, the flimsiness of the lower shaft and unreliable "reverse discrimination" got many discouraged. I know several guys that were conviced they were going to take the Infinium LS, run through the goldfields, leave all the iron rubbish with the "reverse discrimination" and pluck all the gold among the trash just didn't work!! I still remember a member of this forum digging a large target buried deep and the Infinium was saying it was a good target. They were convinced it was a large gold nugget at depth, but it turned out to be a large piece of iron rubbish .... The member was pretty damn discouraged with the performance at that point. Overall, I'm excited to see the Garrett ATX in the goldfield of Arizona. I think there will be a good market for the unit, especially since the Holiday season is right around the corner and many are ready to make a purchase. Just my thoughts, Rob Allison
  2. Hello All, I heard that the Garrett ATX has gotten pushed back to like the end of the month before the release date. Anyone else heard the same thing for the US market? Curious how this detector is going to work for gold and on mineralized ground. I would only guess it would have to be better then the Garrett Infinium LS, which some have used with success nugget hunting the Southwest. That being said, seems like most are using the Infinium LS for beach and coin/relic hunting. Anyone want to chime in on anything related to the Garrett ATX, please do so. Thanks! Rob Allison

  4. Hey Benz, I actually had a conversation with one of the head Minelab reps. one evening during the Conference. I asked him the very same thing and he stated it was very possible to do, but might detail different technology. That is all I can say about that ....
  5. Hey Steve, Thanks for the comments. Dennis and I both share a passion for metal detecting, but also love to help others succeed. It was great having you out and I'm glad you were able to score a few nuggets to boot. We are always here if you have any questions. Keep in touch! Rob Allison
  6. Hey Doc, That is a very honest assestment. What I have always told customers over the years is this. There have been a handful of customers earlier this year that basically said I was full of it and a new detector (like the GPX 5000) would be released before the Winter season started. Well, I guess they were wrong and I was right! Here is what I can tell you historically speaking - Minelab always seems to test and release a new detector in Australia first That being said, all the rumors will start on the Australian Gold Forums That information will soon leak over to the US forums about a potential release coming This normally happens during Australia's Winter Season, our Summer approx. None of this happened this year, we missed the window meaning no release of a new replacment for the GPX 5000If you research this, you will find out it's pretty damn accurate. I have given every customer this information before as they were concerned about purchasing a new detector and one being released a month later. I know I wouldn't want to purchase a detector and find out later a new one came out and I asked the dealer, so I believe in telling the customer what I know. What I can tell you is some people that didn't believe me are out a GPX and have been for months. Now they are probably thinking, do I jump in now and get one, or wait for how long ........ Just my thoughts, Rob Allison
  7. Hey Rabbit, Good Question. The 6-inch is more sensitive, especially in 60khz. It also is great for smaller, tight areas.
  8. Hey Guys, Thanks! Grubstake - I will tell him. That weekend we actually talked about the Mariposa trip and how it was a blast with you. Wish we could do it again. Tom - It felt like a skunk day for me that morning, as I didn't feel 100%. After I got hiking around and Dennis popped the first nugget, then the second and third, I knew it was time to wake up!
  9. Hey Bob, I heard something about you flipping a quad. I've almost done that a time or two, luckily I was able to pull it back over. My partner several years ago rolled his quad off a hillside after hitting a large rock in the road that he didn't see. He rolled down about 100 yards, through cactus and brush and even over a rattlesnake (no BS). He managed to survive the deal, coming away with a scratched eye, bumps and bruises. I was there when it happened, scared the shit out of me, as I thought he was dead. Well, sorry to hear about the hardships. Sounds like you're back on your feet now. Hope you're able to get back out there soon and finds some nice nuggets to forget about some of those tough times. All my thoughts, prayers and even a bit of luck to you! Rob Allison
  10. Hey Lucky and crew, Great looking picture with all the nuggets on the various Minelab searchcoils. Congrats to all you on the new finds! Keep them coming, Rob Allison
  11. Hello All, Yesterday (Saturday) my partner and I took Steve M. from New Mexico out for field instructions on his Minelab GPX 4500. We meet Steve around the Stanton, Arizona area at 8am and headed to the hunt location at the base of Rich Hill. Steve was no newbie to metal detecting, as he showed us a nice collection of gold from New Mexico that he found with the Minelab already. Steve wanted to get a refresher and get an idea how we hunt the Rich Hill area as he comes out a couple times per year to hunt some of the club claims. After about an hour of running over the settings and controls on the GPX 4500, Steve was ready to hit the goldfield. We all gathered our gear and spread out over a larger area where we found nuggets before. Within 15 minutes, my partner yelled out he had a small one. This gave Steve, myself and another friend some motivation the nuggets were there to be found. There was an abundance of old workings around, so some worked around the workings, while i decided to hit the higher banks that potentially shed gold down into the drainages thousands of years ago. About an hour later, my partner hit two more nuggets, in the same area. He said he thought one was over a Dwt, the other two were smaller ones. I yelled over to Steve, "telling him we need to get on it!" Finally, as I was coming down a bank that had some workings, I heard a really faint wobble. I had a good feeling it might be gold due to the location and sound. After a few inches, the sound got much better. At this time, a friend walked up and watched me dig the potential nugget out of the ground. After about 12 inches down, I hit bedrock and the target was still there, which is always a good sign for the most part. Low and behold, a nice 3.4 Dwt was extracted from the bedrock .... EUREKA!! I wondered around the area for another good hour, with my friend working the outskirts, but none of us could turn up another piece of gold among the scattered rubbish from the old-timers. Later, we decided to hit another location down lower and Steve was able to score two smaller nuggets (shown below). Steve seems pretty excited to a few nuggets from this area and seemed to walked away with a good understanding on how to work this area. Steve, thanks for all the business, even though you didn't purchase your GPX from us .... LOL If you ever have any questions, don't hesitate to call or email us anytime. It was great to get back into the goldfields and find a nugget myself. I'm pretty pumped to do some nugget hunting this year. Below is my partner's and I take from the day. Three on left are his, mine is on the right. Metal Detectors used, Steve - GPX 4500 with NF 12-inch coil, My partner was using the GPX 5000 with NF 14x9 Mono, Friend was using the SD2100V2 with Joey 10x5 Mono and I was using the GPX 5000 with Coiltek Blitz 14x9 Mono. Wishing you all a bunch of success out there! Rob Allison

  15. Hey Guys, Great additions to this thread with nuggets with holes. Hope to see more pictures from other forum members. Rob Allison
  16. Hey Ray, Great finds with the Fisher Goldbug Pro. It's deadly on small gold no doubt. I just sold one to a customer down South that is picking up hundreds of small pieces with it. I'm still waiting for him to get on and post some of them. Sure wish I could get back to Nevada and hunt some of the old stomping grounds. Rob Allison
  17. Hey Ray, Great finds! Hope you score more out there. Thanks for sharing. Rob Allison
  18. Hey Ray, You're killing it with the Nugget Finder Sadie 8x6 Mono. It's one of the most popular small mono's at the moment. Hope to see more finds. Rob Allison
  19. Hey Bob, Great finds and glad you see you back posting on the forums. We sure missed your stories and finds over the years. Hope to see you contributing more in the future. Wishing you much more success! Rob Allison
  20. Hey Chris, Dawn and I are very proud of what you have done for this hobby of metal detecting. We are also very proud of the awards you won at the Minelab Partner's Conference. Arizona Outback (AZO) won two awards, one was a "Sales Excellence Award," and then the "Pioneer Award." The Pioneer Award rewards creativity, invention and entrepreneurship. The Minelab Pioneer has taken initiative to suggest, communicate and champion a new idea, policy or product that has resulted in improving Minelab’s position in the industry from a sales, service or industry perspective. Pioneers in American history have explored and travelled to undiscovered places and often places that are not yet understood; such is the case with AZO. Both of these awards were Top Industry Awards given by Minelab. Congrats once again! Yes, we need to get a few hunts in this year, maybe to some new places. Rob Allison
  21. Hey Guys, Thanks for the comments. There was others dealers that were awarded some great awards also and deserved it. The Customer Care and Customer Care Champion have always been my focus as they are based on more of a personal connection with the customers when it comes to service, sales and support at and beyond the sale. Hey Frank, no bonus checks included. Just some really nice awards and knowing you're a part of a great team. We have goals in place to shoot for a sales award in the future, but toggling two full time jobs (Dawn and I), running the business, maintaining a family life and training customers, its no easy task. I just want to personally thank everyone out there for supporting Rob's Detector Sales and what we do! Rob Allison
  22. Hey Ray, Great finds with the new NF 8x6 Sadie searchcoil. No question it's a hot coil for shallow hunting conditions and tight spots. Hope the spots continues to produce more. Keep us updated! Rob Allison
  23. Hello All, Interesting article copied and pasted from Yahoo.com News -
