  1. Hey Steve, Thanks for your comments. I get customers all the time on edge on what to purchase, VLF and PI's. I tell them when I'm in the field doing field instructions or training, they are more than willing to join to see a demo of a certain detector. This will allow them to get a better idea and understanding on what they might purchase. I actually done this last month, had 3 potential ATX/GPX customers. After the demo, two guys decided to make the GPX purchased with our bundle package and the other guy went with the ATX as he needed the waterproof ability. All customers were happy with their purchase and field training that was conduced at a later date. I'm going to be running the Minelab booth this weekend in Quartzsite, Arizona. I'm more than willing to talk about detectors or whatever if you make it out that way.
  2. LOL .... That is what we are know for I guess In all honestly, I always pack up the order(s) the same day they are taken and ship the following day. The only time I don't is when I feel there could be some fraud involved. Thanks for the order. Rob Allison
  3. Hello All (Steve H. & Ray Mills), A friend found a wash that runs for about a mile. The entire upper section was loaded with nuggets, as we cherry picked what we could. The wash is loaded with trash, from one end to the other. Very frustrating to work, so curious on what settings one would suggestion on the GB Pro with 10-inch coil working in all this trash. I like the GB Pro, but never worked with in in really trashy areas. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
  4. Hey Guys, I go out just about every weekend training customers, doing field instructions or prospecting myself. If anyone wants to see a full blown demo on both detectors, I'm more than willing to let you see what I know about them and allow you to make your own judgement call. They are both great detectors, but when it comes to nasty mineralization and depth on larger nuggets, no questions the GPX has the upper edge by a good amount in my opinion. Like I said, I sell both, own both and struggle keeping both in stock. There is a huge market for both detectors, just depends on what your true detector needs are. No Smoke and Mirrors, Snake Oil or whatever, it's the real deal my friends. Come see if you have any doubts. My door is always open ..... Rob Allison
  5. Hey Frank, Sounds good. My wife, Malissa my Minelab Rep and I will be running the Minelab Booth that weekend. I have three talks scheduled, 2pm on Friday and Saturday and 11am on Sunday. Stop over at the Minelab booth for a chance to win a few goodies. We will be handing out brochures, business cards and will have detectors, searchcoils and other accessories there. There will be a few other speakers that I know of right now, one is doing a Meteorite talk and then Erik M., author of both the Quartzsite books will be speaking. I believe there are more, just don't know who they are right now. There will be vendors inside, outside under the patio and then around the building from what I know. Hopefully it will be a great turnout. Stop over and visit if you get a chance. See you there Frank. Rob Allison
  6. Hey Roo and all, I try to be honest in my findings & testing on various metal detectors. I sell them all pretty much, so I just shoot customers straight. I won't oversell to a customer, nor under sale once I know truly what they are trying to achieve. I'm not a big fan of anyone trying to sell someone any product and it can't do what they claimed. This is nothing new, as there are many salesmen that are more worried about the dollar than the integrity. No question the GPX is King, but should be for the price and technology you're buying. I don't think anyone is questioning that. It more so that some seem to believe they can buy lesser expensive equipment, thousands of dollars less and believe it's going to perform the same as a $6000 detector. The Garrett is a great detector for what it does. I can't keep them in stock, I just got another large batch of them in, half are gone already and they just arrived. I'm sure by the time people see this post the rest of them will be gone also. It will be interesting to see what the SDC 2300 can bring to the table. I'm hoping to have a test unit soon and will report my findings on that unit. Thanks for all the comments. Hope to hear from more of you. Rob Allison
  7. Hey Steve, Just a quick update, we conducted a series of tests with the GPX 5000 in the "factory default" settings and 11-inch DD vs. the Garrett ATX. We cranked the ATX up to max sensitivity, and the GPX still got better results, but not huge. That being said, once we went out of default settings on the GPX and started using different timings, increasing gain, various audio settings and such, the Gains really shined for the GPX. When we used the 11-inch Mono, we increased depth on some targets as much as 3-6 inches. Both detectors are great, but in my opinion, the GPX is far more superior for the serious nugget shooters on small and large gold nuggets.
  8. Hello All, Over the last week I have received two emails about the depth claims on the Garrett ATX and the Minelab GPX 5000. First, I would like to say these detectors are leagues apart. The Garrett ATX wasn't built to perform like a GPX. I own both detectors and also sell both detectors, which are selling well. That being said, I have been very hesitate to post any claims on depth tests between the two, which I have done extensively. I recently conducted a test with several ATX owners, several GPX owners and a few Independent Observers. There was no question when it comes to nuggets at depth (various sizes), the GPX 5000 won every time. As the nuggets got larger, the depth difference got even greater. Here are some high points on both detectors - Garrett ATX - Price is $2,120.75 (perfect for anyone wanting a mid-line PI)Basic MPS TechnologyWaterproof Metal DetectorCan break down and be packed inOption of several additional coilsMade in the USAEasy of operation, very user friendlyOperates on AA batteriesWarranty is 2 YearsMinelab GPX 5000 - Price is $5,795.00 (much higher)Advanced Technologies - MPS, DVT and SETAMost Powerful handheld PI metal detector for gold nugget huntingWill achieve the the most mineral immunity and depth 8 Timing Options, like having 8 metal detectors in 1The most options for searchcoils and accessories (Minelab, Coiltek, Nuggetfinder, PulseMate, Goldscreamer and more ....)Warranty is 3 YearsI would hope that anyone selling either of these detectors are being ethical and telling the absolute truth about their performance (pro's and con's). Both detectors are great for what they do and I personally own both of them. Thanks for listening. Rob Allison
  9. Hello All, All is well here. I'm confident my Grandmother is now with the Great Lord. My Mother is still taking it hard, but then again she also took care of my Grandmother (her Mother) for the last 15 years. I'm so grateful to have a Mother that is so loving and caring. I know the Lord don't reward for "works," but I sure hope he can see what my Mother has done over the last 15 years, when my Grandmother should have been in a care home from what medical professionals have said. My Mother believed and took better care of my Grandmother than any home could have. Thanks again for all the thoughts and prayers during these times. Your friend, Rob Allison

  12. Hey Dredger, Do you need to screen the black sands down to a mesh size? The Blue Bowl is the bowl that sits on top of a 5 gallon bucket and has a valve for a hose to allow water to swirl the blacks sands and gold around, correct?
  13. Hello All, Curious if anyone local in Surprise or North Phoenix area has a Gold Screw or Gold Wheel I can use, or even bring cons over to separate gold from the black sands. I want to get as much gold as possible from the Black Sands.
  14. Hello All, My Grandmother Helen passed about about 1 1/2 weeks ago in Boswell Hospital. She was struggling with heart and lung issues for years. She was fighting for the last 5 years in and out of the hospital, more frequent as time went on. She was 82 years old and she was buried today. No question she is in a much better place with no pain and suffering. She accepted the Lord in her heart, so we all know what the Lord promised us - Eternal Life. I was extremely close with my Grandfather Bob, which is the one that planted that gold prospecting seed when I was a young boy. My Grandmother Helen knew how close my Grandfather and I were, so it also made me just as close to my Grandmother. Some of the memories I remember the most were - sleeping in their bed as a kid and feeling those damn bed springs!! Staying up late nights listening to my Grandfather talk around the World to people with his HAM radio. Going over there house and collecting China Berries to through at the neighbor kids Walking up and down the Ally with my Grandfather collecting junk Eating my Grandmother's greasy bacon, it was the best .... Driving with my Grandfather in an old Toyota Corolla, going to pick up my Grandmother from Super X (if you remember that store). Grandma bitching at my Grandfather for always saying he didn't have reverse in the car when he passed up that first Drive Thru Window (he believed he always should get his food first, no pay first ... LOL) So many memories I cherish with both of them, but I know they are reunited in Heaven. Love you both, Grandma and Grandpa. Teardrop just hit the keyboard .... I can only imagine how beautiful Heaven really is.

  16. Hello All, Just a heads up, there is a show coming up called the "Quartzsite Gold, Treasure and Craft Show, which will kick off Feb. 14th - 16th. This is a Friday, Saturday and Sunday. We expect to be there, so if anyone is in the area, stop over and see us if you would. Its going to be at the QIA building in Quartzsite, Arizona.
  17. Hey JP, Yes, it was very cold that weekend. It was great to have you out to Arizona, as many people were excited to meet you in person. I know you're hunting hard, but we sure would love to hear more about your experiences, short stories and finds if possible. I try to encourage as many people as possible to contribute and just put real general information. Most are interested in seeing the gold, rather than trying to figure out where someone is hunting (there are a small percentage of those guys though).
  18. Hey Jim, This might be the time you were talking about. Check out the picture below -
  19. Hey Mike, Great to have you on the forums posting. We want to Thank you for allowing us to earn your business. The new Minelab GPX 5000 is going to be fun to use. You're in the right location for some nice size nuggets. Can't wait to see that first post of your first nugget(s). Until then, Thanks once again and we wish you the best of success out there. Rob Allison
  20. Hey JP, Always great to see your pictures and hear about your stories from the other side of the pond. I sure wish you would post here more often, you're an icon in this hobby of metal detecting for gold. Wow, your Son sure has grown. Now you have more than one detector swinging at the same time, which means more potential for finding patches. Pretty damn awesome. Hope to see more pictures and read more about your families adventures. Your friend, Rob Allison
  21. Hey Reno, Great seeing you again. Yes, you could be correct, I just seen the 1300, so that might have been just the seminars. I heard Saturday afternoon they said 1400, which makes sense. For a few hours it was pretty packed.
  22. Hey Frank, Good question. They said Saturday over 1400 attended. Probably half that amount Sunday. That would mean around 2100. However, just seen a letter that Kevin H., from the GPAA thanking the speakers and stating they had 1300 over the weekend.
  23. Hello All, This picture is courtesy of another site, but here is what they have for a fake GPX 5000 vs. a Genuine Minelab GPX 5000 Control Box. Hopefully no one out there has one like the fake one ....
  24. Hey Guys, Great seeing you all at the show. I know I didn't get the opportunity to talk with everyone. I seen some a bit frustrated Saturday since we were under-manned and couldn't get with everyone during the rush. I know many came back around later when it slowed down. We enjoy talking with everyone about gold, but at the same time I can't spent hours talking with one guy while others are waiting to have questions answered. It's very tough for me also, as I love to chat, but the wife is saying you have other customers ... Yes, the Garrett ATX is 6.9 pounds. I recommend getting a good harness such as the Pro-Swing 45 for this unit. The GPX 5000 is around 5.3 pounds (but the battery is not on the detector like the ATX).
