  1. Hello All, This weekend I had several customers scheduled for instructions, but we decided to cancel due to the unexpected rain Saturday. I had to help a friend unload a water container, so I made the trip anyways in hopes the rain miss the location. It wasn't more than an hour after I arrived that the rain started pouring down for several hours. I decided to wait it out, but it seemed endless. I decided to head out and on the way there looked like a break in the weather, so I headed over to a wash not far from the road to give it a quick whirl. Within 15 minutes of walking the wash I seen several new sections of bedrock, so started scanning it while the rain drops started back in. I managed to pop two small, flat nuggets in the bedrock cracks before the rain really started to pour down. Looks like I have a spot to return to, but it would have to be another day. Was using the Minelab GPX 5000 metal detector and the Coiltek Blitz 14x9 Monoloop searchcoil. Hope you all managed to get out this weekend and score. Rob Allison
  2. Hello All, Not sure what this one weights, but Minelab claims it was found with a GPX model metal detector. Hopefully it's a genuine find!

  4. Hey Guys, I'm not here to take sides on what might or might not be going on with the club, but have heard more stuff the last couple of years than I have ever in the past. I know when Buzzard was still around, his passion and personal charisma really kept the club running strong. I have heard stories about the carekeepers, but don't know them personally to voice any opinion on them. I guess I'm somewhat fortunate enough to know where to prospect beyond any club claims. I have seen a huge reduction in attendance in the GPAA Gold Shows as I have been a vendor for many years and the price skyrocket on booths.
  5. Hello All, Friend of mine mentioned the GPAA or LDMA outings and campsites are at a all time low. He said the last outing only had like 7 members the first day. I remember when the GPAA was a huge club, just curious if anyone know anymore solid details on the club or direction they are going? I know it's not like the "Buzzard" days, I doubt anyone could feel his shoes.

  11. Hello Ringfinder, Good questions, but the answer is NO. The stickers were designed by a high end company. Minelab paid them well to have something that would be hard to counterfeit. The stickers are placed on the unit at the factory and can't be purchased. For the most part, the stickers were placed on the late model GPX 4500, new 4800 and 5000's. Any new high end Minelab will have these stickers if purchased new. Hope this helps, Rob Allison
  12. Hey Chris, I have had a few guys email me asking about that Sudan guide you wrote or made up? I met with Steve H. today here in Arizona for a few hours and mentioned it to him. I didn't know anything about it, until I got a few emails and Steve said you wrote something. Are they still available, if so, I can refer a few email to you. Thanks!
  13. Hello Hendo, Sending prayers from our family to theirs. God Bless them during these times.
  14. Hello All, Just wanted to wish you all a Happy Easter Weekend. Hopefully many of you were able to get out and find a nugget or two. Last night my wife and I went to see the movie "Heaven is for Real," and it was excellent. The book is based on a true story and is similar to the book that came out several years ago. Hoping you all have a personal relationship with the GREAT LORD. Rob Allison
  15. Hey Tom and Co, Great to see you hit another one up in that area. You and your Dad deserve another one for all the hard work you guys been spending up there digging and exploring. Congrats!

  19. Hey Guys, I have been doing some research to know the real story and at first I was on Bundy's side. Then I read about him not paying fees since 1993. I'm on the fence, but the bottom line is it's BS if you're running anyone out over a Tortoise that has survived on that same ground for hundreds, if not thousands of years. Just another way the Environmentalist can run the public out of places. It's not different than the Leopard Frog and other species that are so called "Endangered" here in Arizona that has banned small scale mining and even public traffic to the area (camping, fishing and such). The way the BLM is handling this in my opinion is way out of hand. Someone is going to get killed over this deal ....
  20. Hey Goldminner, I personally haven't seen the X-Ray process, but a friend of mine back in the mid-90's found a huge quartz gold specimen here in Arizona. He knew someone, or someone agreed to take the piece to the Hospital and have it X-rayed and even printed him out a black and white photo of it. I seen the Black and White pictures and the large black represented the gold, the lighter was the quartz and rock. Pretty neat to see. It will give you an idea of there is a huge pod of gold within, or just smaller veins running through it. You can also get an idea if the gold is connected from one side to another by a simple volt-meter in the "Continuity" mode.
  21. Hey Guys, I don't have any of the new searchcoil tape yet, but Doc knows when they arrive I want a large shipment to supply backorders and previous inquiries. The moment I get them in, I will let everyone know.
  22. Hey Guys, I have several friends metal detecting in Mali, Africa right now. They said it's hostile in the villages, so they stay out in the bush as much as possible. They have made decent finds, but have heard of stories of huge nuggets like this being found. The problem is keeping the large nuggets on you. They said most would rather cut them up and hide them on theirselves or in places that wouldn't be easily found. Trying to hide a gold nugget as big as a dinner plate would be difficult and easily found if they got radded or jumped by bandits. Some people using the Minelab PI's have become rich, majority of them, broke! Only a small percentage of the people metal detecting are making the good finds. He said every so ofter you will hear about a very lucky find by a novice or unexperienced group of prospectors working together. For the most part, maybe villages and groups went in and purchased these detectors, having as many as 20-30 guys working 2-3 detectors to support and fund the villages. I personally have pictures that would blow your mind, but can't show them.
  23. Hey Guys, This video has been floating around for awhile, but my guess is its from the Sudan Gold Rush 4-5 years ago. I guess we only wish we had this problem on "How to Split up a Gold Nugget!" Just goes to show there are some huge gold nuggets still out there to be found. I'm sure nuggets like this were found commonly back in the early 1850's in the Motherlode State of California. Rob Allison
