  1. Hey Chuck, I actually just got word that this is not going to end. I'm not sure on how long, but my rep mentioned the Military Discount for 15% will be available on all Minelab detectors including the SDC 2300. I think this is awesome of them and will give any Military person (retired or active duty) a chance on a huge savings!! Call us for more details. You need to have a valid Military ID, so if you don't have one, no discount!!
  2. Hey Guys, We are about 3 - 4 weeks for the official release here in the US. I have a big batch of them coming my way, one of the first shipments to dealers in the US. Our pre-order list is getting larger as the release is coming closer. If anyone is interested in one of these units, we are not taking funds on them, some customers requested to place $200 down to hold one for them. If you want to be added to the list, just call or email us and we will place your name down on the list, when we get to your name, we call and if you're interested we can sell you one. Pretty simple process and has always worked for us. GDM/PV - I'm excited about this unit just for the fact I do have some spots I want to investigate. Yes, I'm always interested in going with more than one guy, as long as we can work together on what we find and not share it to the world (if you know what I mean). I have spent years worth of research and exploring to have guys just sneak in (follow you), claim it and then want to run you off. They know who they are .....
  3. Hey Steve, Great looking gold you scored with the ATX. Any thoughts on the ATX vs. SDC on the same type of gold? Sure wish Minelab could of gotten the MAP down about another thousand.
  4. Hey Guys, I have taken the GB2 to places where I know there is small gold. That being said, most of those locations were moderate to high mineralization (iron stones, basalts and iron rich soil conditions). I would have to dumb down the GB2 to a much lower sensitivity, taking away some of the sensitive to find the very small nuggets near the surface. If the Minelab SDC 2300 is what they claim, it will be like a GB2 in a sense, but still have the mineral immunity with the high sensitivity to small gold. I have some places in mind, but for the most part, I'm going to hike into some remote locations this Winter season that I know has "sleeper type" gold nugget hiding since the original discoveries. Just too far to pack a big Minelab with all the stuff you have to carry with it.

  6. Hey Roo, Been reading JP's stuff on Facebook. I have requested him to post his updated information here on the forums. Hopefully he will do so and we can see his pictures and such. He claims it's very sensitive and he has found many small nuggets and specimens missed by the GPX 5000 and prior metal detectors. He also stated the weight is around 5.1 pounds, lighter than the ATX, but not sure if that is with or without the C-Batteries installed.
  7. Hey AZBackbird, The only time I use a Pinpointer while detecting is when I believe I might have a very good, deep target. This is determined by the ground type, hardness and such. I don't use a Pinpointer to pinpointer every target detected. This takes way too much time and is not needed. When someone is good at detecting, they have no reason in my opinion to use a pinpointer to dig a target. There might be a few exceptions when you're digging on a historical site or such, but when you're good at pinpointing with your detector's coil, you don't need them. I have used them to dig big nuggets in hardpack and they work great. The one that most seen to purchase is the Garrett Pinpointer. It's less expensive than the Minelab version and seems to be more sensitive to small targets. Just my opinions.
  8. Hey Tom & Co., Dennis and I got out this weekend, might be the last cool one we seen until the Winter. We were able to snag some gold, Dennis found one nugget in a new spot that we need to return back to. Snakes seen to be out in full force now, we seen several on the road and several working around some placer areas.
  9. Hey Chuck and All, What is going to be nice about the SDC 2300 is it's a detector that I can pack into locations to prospect. I don't need a big coil, but rather something that is compact and easy to use. I'm tired of going on those long, 2-3 mile hikes with the detector on my shoulder getting snagged on brush and everything else. There is a small, shoulder type carry bag that you can place the SDC into, or it's small enough to go into a large backpack for hiking. Jonathan Porters reports so far look good as far as sensitive to small gold and specimens while still hunting in highly mineralized ground conditions.

  13. Hey Lucky, Congrats on the new find. No doubt a very nice chunky piece of gold. Sometimes you just have to tell yourself to get out of bed and hit the goldfields. I tried this weekend, but just couldn't get out of bed ..... LOL
  14. Hey Ray, Great looking pictures and looks like you all scored some gold. Sure wish at times I lived up in the Motherlode of California. Thanks for sharing. Rob Allison
  15. Hey Guys, The ones I seen and used just briefly had a delay from when you received the target and when you actually heard the target. It was hard to get used to and I didn't like it. I can't say they all are like this, but the ones I seen were. This was about a year ago, so maybe something better has come out. If someone has seen a better wireless headset, please let us know. Thanks!
  16. Hello All, Here is an email I received from Jim Straight. The importance of this email is about having special friends and letting them know. I had two mentors in my life when it came to metal detecting for gold, Jim Straight and Richard Doherty. I never got the opportunity to tell Richard truly Thanks for all he done, but I still can with Jim Straight. If you have a special friend or family member, tell them how much you appreciate them. Hey Jim, I appreciate your email. That being said, you were one of my mentors when it came to prospecting and metal detecting back in the early 90's. If it wasn't for your books and information you written in various magazines and such, I'm not sure I would of stuck it out. It was very frustrating back in the early days metal detecting with no help or information like today. I was lucky enough to meet Richard Doherty in Rock Springs one morning back in the early 90's and seen his collection of gold nuggets from the Bradshaw Mountains. It was an impressive collection of what he said he collected "recently." Meeting Richard was the best thing that could of happened to me when it comes to nugget hunting beyond knowing you. He taught me not only the fundamentals of metal detecting for gold, but the mental aspect of it also. You learn after the fact how important friends are in your life after they are gone. I felt Richard would live forever. I know I told him Thanks for many things during those years, but not sure I really told him how he was the one that changed my life when it came to becoming a successful nuggetshooter and later the idea to build a business around what I enjoyed most. I could only wish I could walk through that front door of his "Health and Wellness" center and tell him what he has done for me today. I no longer have that opportunity with Richard, but I do with you Jim. You have been an icon in this hobby for the last 50 years and with your books and writing, your legend will live forever. Without guys like you Jim, this hobby of metal detecting for gold wouldn't be what it is today. Your books and publications sell just as well, if not more than 20 years ago. Thanks for always being a "special friend" and allowing my picture to hang on your mantel. We may never meet in person, but with the hundreds of emails and letters we have shared, I feel we made that special connection long ago. Thanks for everything! 17. Hey Guys, Brings back a memory of a nuggethunting friend about 15 years ago that discovered a vein of "foil gold" around the same depth with a Minelab metal detector here in Arizona. He was hunting along some ridges since he found wire and nugget type gold in the gulches and ended up getting a good target on solid Granite bedrock. Hours after digging through the solid rock, he had several ounces of foil gold. He ended up sweeping up the area and panning a bunch of smaller foil pieces he couldn't detect. It was a strange discovery since the area wasn't known for foil gold, more so wire nuggets and specimens. Thanks for sharing!
  18. Hey Tom, Glad you guys had fun. Thanks for sharing. I seen the other pictures on Bill's forum. I would have to say you are a "Dollar Short and a Day Late" in that area. We found hundreds of nuggets around that area, but it's been pounded to death. That being said, you never get them all, so give it hell.
  19. Hey Chris, Yes and No. They told me one date, but that just passed, so now I'm not certain. My guess is the dealers will get notification a week or so prior before the official date.
  20. Hey Boulder Dash, Well congrats once again on the find. Any particular reason why the nugget and video went down? I know others have asked me, like I know the answer ..... Hope the nugget sell for a good price for you.
  21. Hey Boulder Dash, Did you end up selling the nugget on Ebay? I noticed the Youtube video wasn't there anymore and the nugget was removed from Ebay, unless I'm missing something.
