  1. Hello Bob, Was talking with Chris Karl this weekend and he mentioned that Angel had to talk with his other partner about the boulders. I guess the other partner actually wanted to add more boulders to make sure no one was getting around it. The last time I talked with Angel about it, he mentioned if he let the WSPA club or anyone else access the area, someone would eventually tear something up! If you're going to work the Windmill Patch, it's best to just part below the Windmill and hike to the patch or patches in the area. Take care, Rob Allison
  2. Hey Terry, Nice nugget you found there. Did you happen to weight the piece? I was thinking around 2-3 Dwt's. Thanks for the comments about my metal detector workshop. I received a lot of great comments from members and they want me to come back and do another more advanced one. Hope to see you up on the claims again. P.S. Would like to think Reg Sniff for helping everyone out on the more technical questions during the workshop. Reg is a great friends and is know as a PI Guru to most. Rob Allison
  3. Hey Uncle Ron, Two of the pictures showed up pretty crappy (pinkish color). My digital has just about seen better days. It's an old Sony PowerShot A70 that I've had for at least 3-4 years now. I think it's time for a new one. Here are the pictures of the member that found the nice 12 Dwt nugget. The four small gold nuggets on the new Platypus Mono are mine from the claims. Take care, Rob Allison
  4. Hello Guys, The books have always sold well, but thought I would run a nice special on the autographed books. Jim's "Follow the Drywasher" 7th edition" is a very hot seller for me. The book is packed with information and sells for $27.95 + shipping if anyone is interested. Also, I have another booklet titled, Nuggetshooting Dryplacer Areas," but not sure what I was selling them for .... All the books ship US Priority Mail + Delivery Confirmation. Normally, this is 2-3 days shipping in the lower 48. Take care, Rob Allison
  5. Hello All, Forgot to mention Jerry (Pondmn) also found at least one. Rusty from Tucson found a couple and a friend of his also found a nugget. I know I'm probably forgetting a few. Also, Reg Sniff and Jim "Frenchy" French was camping with us. Take care, Rob Allison
  6. Hey Guys, Just wanted to give you all a quick update on this weekend. There was one nice nugget found on the "Desert Special" claims that was just under 12 Dwt's. A good friend Rick F. also found one about 1.5 Dwt's on the same push. The other push was unproductive for nuggets. Around 12-12:30pm everyone headed over to the Devil's Nest claims. Karl Baltz found a nice 6+ Grammer on one of the pushes. Steve (CrownKing Steve) found like 8 small nuggets and his wife Kitty found a small one with a Tesoro Lobo. I made it a point to go around and ask who found what and I concluded that approx. 25-30 nuggets were found when I left this afternoon. I ended up with four small ones. Bob "Montana" Dansie was also hunting, not sure if he ended up with any nuggets or not. The interference the first day was rough if you were using a Minelab PI. I also have a couple of pictures of the biggest nugget and the member that found it. Take care, Rob Allison
  7. Hello All, Tonight was one of the first meeting of the year for the 24 Karat Gold Hunters Club. I did a workshop on metal detectors this evening and there must have been a good 100 people at the meeting. There was an excellent turn out at my workshop, so I hope you all learned something. Next time I will get into more advanced stuff. Great meeting you all, Rob Allison
  8. Hello Reg, Give me a call on my cellular when you arrive on the Hill. I'm going to be camped on the claims from Friday morning to Sunday afternoon. I'm bringing some of those copper specimens that you asked about and will also have a Coiltek probe if you want to see how it will work on your detector. Cell - 602-909-9008 Talk with you later, Rob Allison
  9. Hello Uncle Ron, Congrats on your new finds. Sounds like you might be getting close to my secret Vulture Placer. I'm sure there are more nuggets in that general area. Wishing you a handful of those nuggets! P.S. Did you re-up for the 24 Karat Pushes? Rob Allison
  10. Hello All, Jim Straight has been one of my mentors when it comes to geology and prospecting. Reading all his books and articles was worth every dollar spent. Jim and I have been friends for many years and I'm proud to be able to sell all his book/booklets. I'm running a special on the three booklets that he published. If you purchase all (3) booklets I will bundle them down to $25 + Shipping. Normally, each booklet is $9.95, many can't even be found. (1) Jim Straight's "Successful Drywashing, For the Man who wants to know the Secrets of Successful Drywashing." (2) Jim Straight's "Magnificent Quest, A Guide to Prospecting, Drywashing and Nugget Shooting in the Desert." (3) Jim Straight's "Advanced Prospecting and Detecting for Hardrock Gold." All the booklets have been personally autographed by Jim Straight! Jim Straight also have a new book titled, "Follow the Drywasher, 7th Edition." This book is like 300+ pages of packed information. Questions, give me a call at - 623-362-1459 Rob Allison
  11. Hello DigDeep, Great talking with you tonight on the phone. I think you will be pleased with either coil I suggested and even the Coiltek Pocket Rocket Li-Ion System. Give me a call again when you get time and I can give you some tips on the SD2100v2 that worked well for me. Talk with you later, Rob Allison
  12. Hello DigDeep, Only have a few minutes, but will post more this evening. The SD2100 is a great unit, especially for the price. There are a lot fo things you can do to increase performance even more than stock. The SD2100 also have the option of running seperate channels in very high mineralized areas. Yes, you will pick up some interference if you pick the searchcoil off the ground. This is normal, but you can tune some of the noise out with the "tune" knob. Aftermarket coils will not void the Minelab warranty. Hope this helps a bit, Rob Allison
  13. Hello Scott, Everything is going well, actually really well. I'm working my butt off, taking Apprenticeship classes and running the business. Dawn just completed RN schooling through Banner Health. This was a tough gig for her, since it was the excellerated RN program, plus she was working full-time. She already has a job where she will start at $29/hour, but another $3-4 for the night shift! I'm very proud of her. Been hitting the hills on the weekends, pretty much finding smaller stuff. However, have yet to get skunked with the GPX-4000 since I've owned it. Found 4 Dwt's worth of gold this weekend, and some friends found some nuggets also. We will have to hit some places this winter, especially if your Brother stays home! Rob Allison
  14. Hello All, I spent this weekend conducting some prospecting business and doing a bit of nugget hunting with friends. We hit some old spots this weekend giving the new Coiltek Platypus Mono Searchcoils a workout. Everyone seems to be very impressed with their results. Not sure what Coiltek done, but they are extremely quiet, very sensitive and punch down deep. I found four nuggets this weekend on old beat down patches. The new mono is a killer on the GPX-4000. Take a gander at the pictures below. My take was just over 4 Dwt's, biggest gold nugget was 2.4 Dwt's. Take care, Rob Allison
  15. Hello Guys, Talked with the customer again tonight and he is only interested in drywashers that use a leaf blower engine, or maybe a gas powered unit. He mentioned he is not interested in hand crank or 12v drywashers. The customer is very interested in purchasing one, so let me know and I will put you in direct contact with him. Take care, Rob Allison
  16. Hello Scott, Great finds. How did you big Brother do? What are the weights? Went out this weekend to conduct some business, but was able to swing over some old patches with some friends and found 4 nuggets. I'm really impressed with the depth abilities of the new Platypus Mono on the GPX-4000. Talk with you later, Rob Allison
  17. Hello All, Just wanted to say "Happy Birthday" to a good friend, the Goldstudmuffin. Is it possible to blow out 53 candles? Rob Allison
  18. Hey Alan, Yep, you guys have recovered some great nuggets from that patch and I do know about the biggie. Those suckers are "one in a million," but are out there to be found. When someone finds a biggie it just gives me more encouragement they are still out there to be found. Play around with different settings and various coils, you will continue to find more and more gold from that patch. Congrats, Rob Allison
  19. Hey Guys, Just wanted to give you a quick update on the new Coiltek Platypus Mono Searchcoil. Doc originally received 50 from Coiltek in Australia and only a few are left in stock. I personally sold over 20 within just a weekend and others are still inquirying about them. Several customers have sent me back feedback and everything is positive! I'm trying to encourage several of the new forum members to post their results and findings. Speaking of Coiltek, this is just the beginning my friends. We now have Trev back in the drivers seat (new owner) and some great stuff is just around the corner. I've personally emailed Trev some of my suggestions that I believe will be great sellers. Wishing you all the best, Rob Allison
  20. Hello AZGuide, An Internet store might be a good idea to keep. It will generate at least some income while you're out playing around with something you truely enjoy. Speaking of drywashers, I have a customer coming down soon that is interested in a new or used drywasher. I believe he's coming down with a few friends and they want to spend some time drywashing and detecting. Do you know if Russ has any drywasher's currently available for sale (new or used)? I will place Russ in direct contact with this customer. Talk with you soon, Rob Allison
  21. Hello JP, Frieda & Friends, I think JP done an excellent job on all the DVD videos. I've personally watched them all and they are excellent not only for the beginner, but for even the more advanced users. I'm always watching how people detect and picking up different pointers even after 12+ experience. You never know it all, so watching and learning from others can increases your chances of finding more gold. Someday I hope to have my own DVD video. I have some great ideas that have never been covered in any DVD that I've seen. Take care, Rob Allison
  22. Hello Uncle Ron, Sure looks like a little dinker! When you can find those little guys, you know you're tuned right in. Over the years I have found nuggets under a grain in size, even with the SD, but then can't find larger nuggets in the 3-5 grain range. Sometimes it has to do with weight, shape and density. Jim W. won't be on the claims this year. He will be missed by many. Sure hope he makes it the following season. Ted, I think that little nugget that Ron found is valued at about $2 with today's gold prices. Take care, Rob Allison
  23. Hello Steve and others, I would also have to agree, if there was a detector available that had great iron ID, there are places that would yield pounds of gold to the first ones. Many thought the Garrett Infinium was the ticket to this before it was released. I know several guys that purchased them just to hunt some very trashy gullies, discriminate out all the iron rubbish and ultimately pick up all the big nuggets! Sure sounds good, but it never amounted to that. I would be willing to sacrifice out half the depth to have a very accurate discriminator near the surface. I know handfuls of placer locations that are riddled with iron rubbish and have gold nuggets (various sizes) mixed among the rubbish. Anxiously waiting .... Rob Allison
  24. Hello Ted, Not saying I would run a shop any better than Russ or others, but I doubt I could even keep one open for long. There is just too much overhead involved. Internet dealers don't have the expensive overhead such as a lease/rent & utilites. Also, the summer months in Arizona are very slow for sales. Just like Russ, I would rather spend time in the hills. Take care, Rob Allison
  25. Hello All, If anyone in Arizona is selling a decent drywasher, please PM me or reply back here with information. A customer is coming down soon from back East and interested in purchasing one. Thanks, Rob Allison
