  1. Hello Doc, Thanks for the reply back. I know many were hoping you would post some details. I know you have no worries Doc, but it will effect the others integrity big time! P.S. Hope you can have something designed similar to the W3 design. I really like that pick. Rob Allison
  2. Hello Rod, Yep, Hermit Pick is a great product. I would have carried them in the past, but was partial to John Hodan with Hodan Pick and Walco out of Australia. I just didn't want to carry too many picks, so stuck with these manufactures and had great luck with them. Don't worry, something is already in the making, something much better and maybe even a tad bit cheaper. It's hard for me to keep a secret, but I promised. Take care, Rob Allison\
  3. Hello Karl, I have you down for a new Coiltek Platypus Mono. The pre-order list is getting bigger and bigger daily. Hopefully Doc can keep them coming ... P.S. PM me your phone number again. Rob Allison Hello Guys, Forgot to mention Grubstake and I will be the first ones in the United States with this coil. The minute I receive this coil I will be field testing it and posting results. I think it's going to be a sleeper on the Minelab GPX-4000. Take care, Rob Allison
  4. Hello Rod, I think you're right. Also, if you check out the forums, there is over 1,000 visits to these threads. I'm sure by the end of the week there will be a good 1,500. Considering many people are re-visiting the threads, I would guess there's a good 300-400 gold prospectors reading these posts. I would bet a very high percentage of them will never consider the Walco name again, unless something changes very soon. I used to think Walco was the absolute best, but .... Rob Allison
  5. Hey Ridge Runner, I'm in the market right now for a quad. Been looking at several dealers, just not certain what manufacture or model I'm going to purchase. Thought about a Yahama Rhino, but I think it's too big for what I'm wanting to use it for. Leaning towards a Polaris, but leaving my options open. Any suggestions, Rob Allison
  6. Hello Rex, I would agree with you, it's nice to know why, or what happened. We probably won't know anything, but then again that just shows the character of the people that are running the show. In my opinion, I think it would have been fair, or at least better business if Walco added another distributor rather than just cutting one out (DOC) and making another (AZO). People tend to ask me tons of questions since I'm in like a triangle between my distributor and a relation. Take care, Rob Allison
  7. Hello Allen, I love the Minelab GPX-4000, but haven't used the big Coiltek UFO on it. I know Steve H. from Alaska loves the UFO, so hopefully he will give us some advice on sizes and depths. Wishing you the best, Rob Allison
  8. Hello Guys, I won't say the persons name, I will allow him to give all the details if he chooses. Yes, someone up on the 24 Karat Gold Hunters Club found over 30 nuggets in one pocket. They were working a small area with pick, shovel and bar. There are more pockets, you just have to find them! Congrats to .... Rob Allison
  9. Hello Russ, What do you mean I can see your nuggets? I like show-in-tale! Rob Allison
  10. Hello Guys, I just wanted to say I'm not pissed at anyone, just would like to know what happened. I know in business stuff like this happens, but it's always nice to know why. I have no problem with another dealer or distributor selling the Walco's, since I thought they were the best pick around in the past. However, I have change heart and a new pick will be coming out soon! Anyone looking for a good prospecting pick, keep your eye out. Rob Allison
  11. Hello Guys, Grubstake - Several other guys PMed me and also said they didn't get a reply, but wrote very nice emails. I doubt they are going to reply to anyone. 29Prospector - Bill Southern actually gave me a Hermit pick when they first came out. I used it and it is a good, strong pick. However, I've been partial to the picks with the triangle, straight heads that are a bit smaller than the Hermit Picks. I still have a batch of Walco Picks in stock. Take care, Rob Allison
  12. Hello Ted, I know you're a good nugget hunter, so it's just a matter of time and you will hit a bunch. You're keeping the skunk away, so that is always good. Take care, Rob Allison
  13. Hello Claim Jumper, You're probably right. However, prospecting in general is a small market, gold nugget hunting being even smaller. I wouldn't want to burn bridged with one of the biggest prospecting distributors in the US. Also, seen on another forum where someone stated AZO needed to explain this. I agree, AZO don't need to explain anything. I think everyone is wondering why Walco won't explain? Take care, Rob Allison
  14. Hello Uncle Ron, Detecting for gold nuggets is partially a mental game. You have to believe in yourself and eqiupment to find gold. I remember about 12 years ago when the famous Richard Doherty told me, "Rob, you have to make the gold!" I thought he was freaking crazy, but later realized he meant you have to believe you're going to find gold nuggets. Congrats on your new gold nuggets finds. It's amazing how much gold is still laying around out there. Rob Allison
  15. Hello Chuck, Thanks for supporting the new forum. I have to get some pictures of some of my coin and relic finds. I've found some old coins, but have yet taken any pictures of them. I will also re-post the old "Octave, AZ Token" I have. Take care, Rob Allison
  16. Hey Ted, Congrats on the new gold nugget find. You sure are knocking them dead out there. I can't wait until the weather cools down a bit. Thanks for sharing your story and find. Hope you continue to contribute here. Best of luck, Rob Allison

  18. Hello Guys, I've received a handful of phone calls, PM's and emails about this whole Walco pick deal. There has been some very interesting questions brought forth with very little answers. Grubstake brought up a very interesting question - "If Doc had 400 Walco picks on backorder, how the hell could the company even think about bringing in another dealer/distributor when they couldn't even support the one they had? Just curious if anyone has received any feedback from their emails? Take care, Rob Allison
  19. Hello Guys, I have a story I just have to tell. It's just eating at me not being able to tell you what kind of guy Doc really is. As many of you know, Doc has invented a handful of prospecting accessories over the years. One product that he has made by another person could easily be made cheaper if he wanted to have the same product manufactured overseas. However, Doc had good business relations with this person, so he continued to do business with him even thought he could have the product made for about half the price. This alone tells me something about Doc. Now you figure out the rest when it comes to manufacturing picks ... Rob Allison
  20. Hello NathanJ, I don't think the Minelab dealer gave you bad advice. I've personally sold more SD2100 and SD2100v2's over the SD2200 series. The SD2200d or SD2200v2 does have a few more features, such as Discrimination, Auto Tracking and more control switches. Any iron discrimination can blank out gold, but mostly gold in host rock. I've noticed specimens with quartz or ironstone, or a combination of both can blank out on the PI discriminators. As far as solid gold nuggets, the discriminator is pretty good. In real trashy areas I would suggest discrimination features, but in less trashy areas the SD2100 does just as good. With the $500 you saved, I would suggest a Coiltek Li-Ion System to benefit the SD2100. I've sold hundreds of these units and you will notice a performance gain with them besides the super lightness of them. Hope this helps a bit, Rob Allison
  21. Hello Scott, Happy Belated Birthday!! Does that mean you are in the Virgo group? If so, no wonder why we both find more gold nuggets than your big Brother! My B-Day is the 18th of this month. Take care, Rob Allison
  22. Hello Guys, I created a coin, relic and treasure hunting forum just for you! Now I hope you all take advantage of it and actually use it. Take care, Rob Allison
  23. Hello Dustin, It is a bummer, but what can you do. Doc has promoted those picks in ICMJ and the GPAA magazines, his own catalog and in the field. Hell, Doc had 400 on backorder from Walco ... I seriously doubt anyone is going to order and sell more than what Doc done in the past. If they could, it was from Doc building Walco a big name here in the US. The pick you asked about has been on backorder for a long time, it's not that we couldn't get it. Take care, Rob Allison
  24. Well Doc, As much as I would love to punch the PC Monitor screen, it wouldn't do any good. I would first like to add that Walco is making a huge, I mean huge mistake!!! Many of these other dealers had no interests whatsoever in Walco until their own pick products went sour (rock bottom!). I know I've personally sold Walco picks since day one with Doc (Profile Prospecting Supply) and promoted to my fullest extent. I think they are the greatest prospecting picks available and all my customers know how I promoted and pushed such a great pick. However, if this is true, I will never, ever mention Walco or this company to another sole!! There is no distributor here in the US that could market such a great pick better than Doc. He has advertised all the Walco picks through many prospecting magazines, his own catalog and through many dealers sites such as mine. If anyone has any faith in Doc or the dealers that have promoted these picks since day one, please send an email to - shwallaceandco@iinet.net.au and let them know what you think. This email is not attacking anyone, just stating frusteration and a bit of mis-understanding why any company would even consider dropping Doc. Rob Allison
  25. WALCO Picks shoves it up Doc's arse Posted by: DOC Date: September 12, 2007 11:37AM Moderator Registered: 2 years ago Posts: 504 After some 7 years of promoting and advertising WALCO picks from Australia, and single handedly making them a household world here among the United States Prospecting community, I got the following email last night. (By the way I currently have 400 picks on order from them, that I obviously will not be receiving.) I have marketed these picks through my dealers nationally I have always tried to keep the prices reasonable. The W3 pick, the most popular, has always been sold for $49.95. Despite the devaluation of the dollar over the years and increased shipping costs, I have never raised the price. My goal has always been to supply the best products to America's prospectors, at reasonable prices. Unfortunately, as you can see, I will no longer be able to supply you with WALCO picks. I had repeatedly asked what the hold up was on my order of picks as I have been waiting for three months. I would appreciate if you would send an email to S.H. Wallace and tell them about your experience with me as a representative of their product and other products I have provided. I told them that American Prospectors are not too keen on companies, such as theirs, that are perfectly willing to allow someone to spend time and money to advertise their product and build a client base, just so they can turn around and engage in underhanded tactics such as these. I truly am shocked by this turn of events. I can understand if S.H. Wallace wants to expand their distribution, but to cut me off, when I am the one who has done all the grunt work leaves me speechless. It's not the first time that this has happened to my suppliers. Where certain parties have tried to get them to cut me out, when I'm the one who has imported and advertised the item and made it popular. G'Day Doc, Sorry for the delay in answering your email. After carefull consideration we (Walco) will not be able to supply Profile Prospecting with our products. This decision is not personal, but based on situations outside your influence. We have appreciated all past dealings with you. Arizona Outback will be handling some of our products. We wish you and your family health, wealth and peace for the future. Thanks again.
