  1. Hello HappyGerardo, Welcome to the Nuggethunting.com Forums. Glad we were able to get your username and password resolved. Stange no one has replied back to you ... shame on them! Would love to hear more about your stories in Costa Rica. Hope to hear back from you, Rob Allison
  2. Hello Uncle Ron, Regardless of what you might read on th Internet, the Coiltek Heavy Duty Power Cords are still the strongest cords on the market. The rubber boot on each end really makes a difference, no other company besides Minelab is using them. Reason? Cost .... For less than $45, you must have a backup power cord. Been too many tmes when I hiked several miles and found out the cord was busted! Take care, Rob Allison
  3. Hello Uncle Ron, You can't beat Coiltek and Doc. If there is a warranty problem they get the problem resolved ASAP. Great to hear Doc took care of you. Talk with you later, Rob Allison
  4. Hello Shep, I'm up there just about every weekend. Tell him to call me when he wants to head up and I will show him the claims, the pushes and where gold was found! Take care, Rob Allison
  5. Hello Iggy, Was on the claims today (MLK Day) with Leaverite and a new GPX-4000 customer. Found two more smaller ones from the same push. Both the NF 10-inch and Minelab 11-inch coils are good. Just a matter of preference when you use them. Just remember, it's not so much the type of coil, but rather getting that coil over the nugget(s)! Congrats once again for your find. Rob Allison
  6. Hello Uncle Ron, Well you found too many big nuggets from the LSD area and it burned up the coil! Picked two more nuggets from the pushes today. Nothing big or exciting, just a couple more small ones. Talk with you later, Rob Allison
  7. Hello Guys, Was out there today with Scott (new GPX-4000 customer) and Leaverite. We tried out luck down in the flats, but couldn't find anything. Later we gave the 24K Gold Hunters Club a shot and I picked two nuggets from one of the pushes. Leaverite found a couple of very deep targets with a huge searchcoil, but none of them were gold. Will post a picture later. Rob Allison
  8. Hello All, The pushes on the 24K Gold Hunters Club produced a good amount of nuggets today. The biggest pieces were 1/4 ouncers and a small handful of 1 Dwt and smaller nuggets. It didn't snow or rain today, but it was very cold with a slight breeze. Iggy scored his first gold nugget today from push 2. Steve (Wonderer) found his 3rd gold nugget today from push 2. A handful of other members scored nuggets. Leaverite scored a small one, Glenn found (2) nuggets, one being almost 3 Dwts. I found (2) small gold nuggets from two different push sites. Some new GPX-4000 owners were also on the claims trying to figure out their detectors. Some of the AZ dealers are promising field instructions but not giving them, or having guys with no GPX-4000 experience teach them! Will post a nugget picture tomorrow. Take care, Rob Allison
  9. Hello Uncle Ron, If I remember correctly I purchased one of the first SD2000's from Floyd Allen back in 1996. I paid almost the same price at a new GPX-4000. I think the price was $3,795.00. Minelab normally releases a new gold detector every 2 - 2.5 years. Take care, Rob Allison
  10. Hello Iggy, I just wanted to say "Congrats" on your first gold nugget with the SD2100. Didn't get to talk with you much, but was wondering what coil you were using? Now it will be downhill ... Rob Allison
  11. Hello WhatforSupper, A good friend had two stolen off his trucks. One was short bed Chevy the other was a Club Cab GMC. The major reason for the theft is the high re-sale value on them. A salvage yard will pay up to $500-600 for them depending on the color and condition. Quick and easy money for the theives. Take care, Rob Allison
  12. Hello Colorado Bob, I'm partial to the Bates Boots. I've been through about 6 pairs in the last 5 years or so. I get a good 6+ months out of one pair, but I'm hard as hell on them. The Bates Boots are comfortable, have great traction and have absolutely no metal. I've seen people order the Bates from a few online stores for a bit cheaper, but heard one person had a problem with the size and it took 6 weeks to get another pair. If this happens with Doc, it takes about 3 days, no BS. You might pay an additional $10 or so, but the service is worth it in my opinion. Just order them directly from Doc. Rob Allison
  13. Hello acronn (Randy), Congrats on that beautiful piece of gold you found! You should be very fortunate that you have friends like Grubstake and Shep. Over the years I have watched Grubstake invite friends to secret patches, which most won't do. I know it's just a matter of time and Grubstake is going to find a Monster for being such a good person to others. Randy, hope this is only the beginning for you. Rob Allison
  14. Hello Uncle Ron, The problem is you're driving 85 MPH on the Stanton Road trying to beat everyone to the push on Saturday's! No really, if you would have purchased a GMC that wouldn't have happened. Hehe... Hope you get your truck fixed soon so you can get some more nuggies. I'm having nugget withdrawls ... Rob Allison
  15. Hello Glen, Congrats on your new nuggets! The SD2200d is a great Minelab metal detector. To increase better performance and more stability you might consider a Coiltek Li-Ion Pocket Rocket for it in the future. This will elliminate the heavy battery and give you better performance all through the day. You won't get any voltage drop once the battery starts to drain. The SD2200d is a huge step over the Tesoro Lobo, especially on mineralized ground. P.S. Yes Lamar, he is making me jealous since I got the old skunkarooo two times out now. I think my GPX-4000 is broken. Keep up the great work, Rob Allison
  16. Hello Nicksan, Welcome to the Nuggethunting.com Gold Forums. I'm sure if you go back into the older posts you will finds tons of good information on nugget hunting. Depending on where you live, there are a handful of books that are very helpful. Some of the books I highly recommend are Jim Straight's "Follow the Drywasher, 7th Edition" & "Advanced Prospecting and Detecting for Hardrock Gold." Jim Straight is a world reknown geologist, prospector, author and much more. The 7th edition has at least 20 years of nugget hunting information packed into one book. The new "Nugget Hunting Essentials" DVD set is also a must. I carry all the products I mentioned above. You can also find Placer Gold Booklets on most of the Southwestern States. P.S. Let us know where you're from and maybe we can give you some tips. Hope this helps a bit, Rob Allison
  17. Hello Steve, CONGRATS!! Like I mentioned to you before, you have one of the best metal detectors available and a member of some great nugget hunting ground. Just keep plugging away hunting methodical and you will find more. If you spend enough time on the pushes (even weeks after the push) you will find gold. Just just need to work slow, listen for the faint ones and dig everything! I have your Black Widow Heaphones when you're ready. I'm in the process of ordering more. Talk with you soon, Rob Allison
  18. Hello Grubstake, I personally used to work for the US Postal Service and just had a deal like this not too long ago with a Coiltek Li-Ion System. The customer called and stated they never received the package, but later stated the Post Master said it was stolen! Low and behold, the Mail Carrier left the package in the wrong PO Box, so the person that recieved it realized it wasn't his and left it on top of the Metal Mail Boxes. The packaged got ripped off and the Post Master told the customer it was my fault. How the hell is it my fault that their mail carrier left the package in the wrong box, and then it got stolen? I told the Post Master at that location over the phone if she didn't take care of it I was calling the US Postal Inspector to look into her shady Post Office. Two days later I received a check in the mail from the Post Master. Get a Postal Inspector involved right away. They will figure it out .... Talk with you soon, Rob Allison
  19. Hello GazRecrut, Welcome to the fourms. Hope to see you posting more in the future. Rob Allison
  20. Hello Harleyman, I would have to agree to Rattlesnake Jim. For the best sensitivity to small gold the Coiltek Joey 10x5 Mono or Minelab 8-inch Round Mono Searchcoils would work best. I would also run the Sensitive mode for small gold on the GPX-4000. The Coiltek Joey is $199 The Minelab Commander 8-inch is $199.95 These are the new prices, you might be able to find some good used one also. Wishing you the best of luck, Rob Allison
  21. Hello Rex, You bring up a great point about background noise. The DetectorPro Headphones fit nice and snug and block most of the background noise. Some say this is great since you hear the targets better, but some don't like it since you don't hear the critters, snakes and whatever else. I actually like the snug fit and just have one headphone slightly off the ear if I want to hear the surroundings. I agree, the Koss seem to be a bit loose and don't fit snug like the DetectorPro Headphones. Whatever works best for you is the BEST! Take care, Rob Allison
  22. Hey Shep, Congrats on the new find! You guys have some great country to hunt up there. Wish I could have made the trip with Doc to hunt with Grubstake. Hopefully I will be able to make it up there this year and hunt with you and Grubstake. Haven't tried the Platypus on the GPX-4000 as of yet. I wore out my used NF 14-inch elliptical, it was a great coil. Considering another one for bedrock hunting conditions. Take care, Rob Allison
  23. Hello Uncle Ron, Congrats on the new Rich Hill finds. I think you're getting the hang of Rich Hill too well. Slow down so we will have a chance at a nugget or two. Always great to see you on the claims, Rob Allison
  24. Hello Tool, Most of the clubs are based around Panning, Dredging and Drywashing. The advantage of the 24K Gold Hunters Club is the fact you're hunting some of the best, most productive ground in Arizona. Rich Hill was one of the richest placer deposits not only in Arizona, but also in the World for its size. In less than a 1x1 mile square there has been more than one million ounces of gold recovered. Some of the reports say as high as five million ounces. There is really no telling what was found, but it was more than I could imagine! The 24K Gold Hunters Club has a couple hundreds members. The people are great, most of them very experienced. I'm glad I'm not only a part of the club, but a board member to boot. Give Elly a call and tell her you would like to know more about the club. Some other clubs I highly recommend are the Roadrunner Prospectors Club, Weaver Mining and the GPAA. Hope this helps a bit, Rob Allison
  25. Hello arahi666, Good questions, but haven't heard anyone with one on the GPX-4000. Not sure you need one since most are going back to old patches and finding more nuggets without any added help. Montana Bob is kicking arse and taking names with his on old patches. I wish I had more time to hit some old spots. Do you have a Minelab GPX-4000? What are your thought if so ... Take care, Rob Allison
