  1. Hello Jim, Congrats to you and Spencer!! Good to see you guys hit a nice spot. When you're done I will run the GPX-4000 over it! Hey, I would give you guys 50% of what you missed. Take care, Rob Allison
  2. Hello Steve, Had several customers over tonight. Thought it was probably too late to call you. Give me a call tomorrow or I will call you. P.S. As for posting the picture, make sure you're logged into the forums and then make a post or reply to one. On the bottom of the text screen where you type is a "File Attachment" bar where you click "Browse" and look through your PC for that picture. When you find the picture just click on it and it should show in the bar. Then click "Add this Attachment" and it will attach that picture to the post. Talk with you later, Rob Allison
  3. Hello Bob, You might be right, I just remember him mentioning the power cord, but it might have been the entire detector! Floyd Allen and Richard Doherty were very close friends and I will always miss them. If it wasn't for Richard, I would still be dredging. Richard is my mentor when it comes to Electronic Prospecting. They will always hold a special place in my heart and are both truly missed. I will never forget when I walked over my first big nugget and Richard found it! He asked me if I had my gun on me .... Take care, Rob Allison
  4. Hello Dredger, I never cared to use a DD in the mono mode. I think this is a big waist of time unless you're pinpointing. Why would anyone want to purchase a DD coil and then only use half the coil in the mono mode? If you want the true benefit of a mono coil, purchase the size you want to use and benefit by using the entire legth/width of the coil for max depth. I think you would get more depth out of you 20-inch coil in the DD mode than using it in the mono mode and only using 1/2 the coil. However, I'm sure some will differ. Take care, Rob Allison
  5. Hello Al, I might have a GP3000 manual, but will have to look through all my books to see. If I do, are you interested in it? I will also see if I can find the backdoor to the Adobe GP3000 file. Talk with you soon, Rob Allison
  6. Hello Bob, You just hate to walk away from holes like that when you know the area has produced huge gold nuggets. I would hate to hear the following day someone dug it up and it was a 6+ ounce Rich Hill Slug! Not sure if you remember the story about Floyd Allen. He told me one time he was working around the Cactus Patch and some lady was following him around. She thought he was some movie star since he was in the Nugget Hunting VHF Video. I'm sure you know all about the video ... LOL Well she wouldn't leave Floyd alone, so he just allowed her to walk around with him while he was nugget shooting. He managed to get a nice smooth target and proceeded to dig on it. He was down a good foot or so and mentioned to me he was convinced it was a nice sized nugget. Low and behold he heard his detector shut down! The lady managed to roll a small boulder onto his SD2000's power cord!!! He was pissed off, but he couldn't do anything about it. Since he didn't have a replacement, or another detector he ended up leaving. The next morning he returned since he knew it was going to be a nugget. Well, long story short the Lady told her Husband about the hole and he dug it up. I heard it was like a 7+ ounce nugget! Could you only image how pissed Floyd was .... Did you ever hear about this? Talk with you soon, Rob Allison
  7. Hello Del, If you're spending some time around the Rich Hill area I would also suggest you joining the Weaver Mining District. The yearly membership is only $25/year and they have really good claims for nugget hunting. Some of the better nuggets have been found on their claims over the years, including the famous 28.5 ounce Tongue Nugget. I don't have the contact phone number off hand, but you can stop in and join. The Weaver Mining District is located in Congress, Arizona. Ask for Les. Take care, Rob Allison
  8. Hello Colorado Bob, I have dug nuggets at close to that depth in the past. One was a 8.5 ouncer at Quartzsite. Dawn and I spent over an hour digging down in a small wash. Had a good feeling it was a good target since there was no trash in the area and we dug right through hard-pack. Another was down .... well I better not talk about it. AzNuggetBob - It was a piece of a iron rubbish, but kind of looked like a Cat Tooth from a backhoe or trackhoe. It was in an old push that was recently pushed again. It was at least 3 foot, maybe close to 4 foot down. Several rocks were laying on top of it and required a Quad and Wench to remove them. I didn't completely dig the target out, but dug around it to see what it was. You know the area well, it was below the "Varnished Wall" where I seen you many years ago when you first got the SD2100. Pretty much the heart of the main run. Talk with you later, Rob Allison
  9. Hello Steve, Was curious if you took the picture of me working on the 3+ foot hole? If so, any chance you could post it? I remember a few weeks prior you had a hole just like it. Tough to walk away knowing what was found there in the past. P.S. Leaverite said he Bsed with you for an hour or so at the Hill today. Talk with you soon, Rob Allison'
  10. Hello Iggy, You would think being a Board Member I would know where those claims were .... I believe the JB claims are the two 20-acre claims on the lower Stanton side, right? If so, I have found some decent sized nuggets over there in the years past. Prospected the ones over near the Leviathon Mine in the past, but never found any gold nuggets. Heard it was real good for drywashing. I could pretty much tell this from the amount of recent drywashing workings. Located one spot on the claims that I need to check out. Forgot all about it until I seen the area this last weekend. I remember after the fact I found a few nuggets there many ... many years ago with the early SD's. Hope this helps a bit, Rob Allison'
  11. Hello Uncle Ron, Steve and Kitty had one nugget when we left yesterday evening from the Hill. Dennis scored (3) yesterday and (2) more today from the Hill. I scored (2) small ones also yesterday. Dennis said the GPX is making a big difference, but I know that! Talk with a guy that purchase a Minelab GP from me a few weeks ago and he said he's been on the Hill the last couple of days with no luck. Said he is going to give it another day or so. The Hill is still producing, most of them small, but a few nice ones from time to time. Talk with you soon, Rob Allison'
  12. Hello Bob, It was great seeing you on the claims again. We really need to get a hunt going out that way before the Summer heat is back! Speaking of the hole I dug, you just can't leave them. Heard too many stories over the years about guys giving up on their holes and someone finding a huge nugget. Well, it took some time (at least an hour) and the quads wench, but we managed to get to the bottom. Have no clue what type of metal it was, but it wasn't a gold nugget. The hole was at least 3 foot deep. Figured it had to be a 8+ ounce nugget at that depth. Take care, Rob Allison
  13. Hello All, Today Leaverite and I met up with Joe (new GPX-4000 customer) & his Son along with many other guys at Rich Hill today. The weather was beautiful today at the Hill, perfect for metal detecting. I spent a good part of the day showing Joe and his Son how to work their new GPX. Leaverite wondering around on the claims and picked up (3) smaller nuggets in an area where the old-timers worked. Joe and I spent some time on one of the old pushes. Later in the day I ran my GPX-4000 in the same area where Joe was working and got a good signal. I had a good feeling it was going to be a nugget due to nice signal, so I had Joe and his Son listen to it. Low and behold it was about a Dwt sized nugget that I let them keep! We spent some time later in the day working around where Leaverite found the three, but everyone came up with just more trash. At the end of the day walking back to the truck I snagged a small nugget about 1/4 Dwt. Seen a bunch of faces at the Hill today; Colorado Bob (frpm Quartzsite), Stephen Lane (purchased a GP3500), Steve and Kitty, Glenn B. and his Wife (just purchase a GP3500 from me) Iggy John & Terry (just purchased a GPX-4000). Glenn B. - Tried to find you later in the day, but you must have been higher than I climbed. Always fun at the Hill. Picture 1 - Joe and his Son holding their new GPX-4000 Picture 2 - Leaverite's (3) nuggets and the one I located Take care, Rob Allison
  14. Hello Grubstake, With the GP3500 you should be able to find smaller nuggets and smaller nuggets at depth over your SD. Will be interesting to see what you turn up after a few hunts with the newer detector. For smaller gold I would choose the Sensitive/Normal setting, but for larger stuff at depth I would go with Normal/Deep and listen for those faint ones! Wishing you and Shep the best my friends. Rob Allison
  15. Hello Grubstake, Congrats on the new detector! I still have no clue where you got it, but it don't matter you have the GP3500. I sure hope you find more gold with it. I still have my GP3500, but have had several serious inquiries about it. I won't let it go for nothing, it worth it's weight in gold. IronMike - I always have the Coiltek Pocket Rocket Li-Ion Systems in stock. For the SD's (2100 or 2200) it's recommend to run them in the 6.7v mode. On this system you can run 6.7 or 7.3v. Take care, Rob Allison
  16. Hello Iggy, Great pictures! Just think, that Hill has produced, hundreds ... I mean thousands of ounces of nugget gold. Several people I know have a couple hundreds ounces a piece. Hey, I just want a 1-Pounder! Rob Allison
  17. Hello Boeing747, I personally haven't had any problems with the GPX-4000 and Solar Flares. My detector is running very quiet and smooth. Are you sure you want a GPX-4000? Talk with you soon, Rob Allison
  18. Hello Dregder, I was just razzing you a bit! I'm sure your GPX-4000 is running perfectly, you just have to get that coil over some gold. Realistically, this is one of Minelab's greatest improvements when it comes to detector in a long time. I can get the GPX to run so quiet, or I can crank it up knowing I'm getting more depth then any detector that is available on the market today! Wishing you the best, Rob Allison
  19. Hello Colorado Bob, The meeting turn-out was good, so was the food. There was probably a good 40 people at the meeting. Elly talked a little about the clubs future, told a Klondike Gold Rush Story and some other things were discussed. I gave away eight small gifts, (2) Minelab Coffee Cups, (2) Kangaroo Scrotum Nugget Pouches, (2) Coiltek Baseball Caps & (2) Jim Straight's "Follow the Drywashwer" 7th Edition books. Seen a lot of new faces at the meeting. Club is really growing, much faster than I expected. Will post some pictures of the meeting later tonight. Maybe I will see you up on the claims this weekend. Take care, Rob Allison
  20. Hello All, I have no clue where the Congress Comm. Center is, but I'm heading up that way for the X-Mas Party/Monthly Meeting. I'm sure I will be able to find it and will take some pictures. I'm bringing up some detecting goodies to give away, so maybe I will see you there. Take care, Rob Allison
  21. Hello Uncle Ron, I might be around the Bradshaw's Saturday and then out at Rich Hill Sunday. Still don't know for sure utnil I talk with everyone. The weather will also be a factor. Heard it might rain this weekend ... Talk with you later, Rob Allison
  22. Hello Steve, I never received the email you sent. I receive on an average of 50-100 emails per day through the website. I check my webmail at least 4-5 times per day and respond to all messages the same day if possible. Please make sure you sent it to - auplacers@yahoo.com It is possible that Yahoo caught your email in the "Spam/Bulk" folder. I don't even check these emails, just hit delete! The GP3000 is a great detector. Yes the GP3500 is a bit better and the GPX-4000 even more than both. All the main GP3000 talk was about 4 years ago when the GP3500 and GPX-4000 were not available. There was just as much talk about the GP3000 years ago as there is now about the GP3500 and new GPX-4000. If you have a specific question(s), just post them here and we can try to answer them. I spent at least 3 years with the GP3000 and found pounds of gold. Shoot me over another email and we can chat. Talk with you soon, Rob Allison
  23. Hello Dredger, The GPX-4000 is so versatile that is makes it much harder to find the best settings. My personal advice is to "Crank" the GPX to the max if it will handle the ground conditions. If the machine becomes unstable or very noisy, back down the "Gain." If you want to really quiet the detector down, use the "Quiet" audio setting. If the ground is very nasty you might have to use the "Sensitive/Smooth" mode. I only use Sensitive/Smooth if the GPX is noisy in the other settings. I prefer to work in Deep/Normal for larger gold at depth and crank on the settings until I find what is best. Kind of hard to tell you what is best, but would recommend a lot of testing and experimenting with the detector. You will eventually find what is best for for ground conditions and your hunting style. I have yet to be skunked with the GPX, hopefully I never will. Take care, Rob Allison
  24. Hello Guys, AzNuggetBob - Yep, you know that run too well! Couldn't imagine how many pounds of gold that was originally found off that run by the old-timers and early detectorist. Uncle Ron - Yep, Rich Hill is much closer now, probably about 35-45 minutes. However, there are a bunch of other spots in the Bradshaw I want to hit this year. Too many spots and too little free time! Are you going to be out at Rich Hill this coming Saturday? Talk with you soon, Rob Allison Hello Guys, We did have a great hunt up there Sunday. Terry from Mesa purchased a new Minelab GPX-4000 and we conducted the field instructions on the 24K Club Claims. Spend 2-3 hours with Terry showing him how to run the new detector and then let him loose. I then grabbed my detector and started working in the area to find targets to have him listen to. I only found like three targets, one was a very faint one in the middle of an old patch. Had a good feeling it might be a small nugget. Low and behold, I let Terry come over and check it out and it was a small gold nugget wedged in a crevice. Iggy was also out there with us. He didn't have his SD2100 at the time, but he did poke around with an older VLF and found some trash targets. I believe Iggy is going to attack the claims this weekend with the new detector! Bunk, now he came out, but he decided it was too cold to hunt. I believe Bunk is going to come out Saturday also. Overall, great hunt and hope to do it again. In a rush, have to work now .... Take care, Rob Allison
  25. Hello All, Here are some pictures from last Sunday. Finally got to meet a few new faces and some nuggets were even found. Picture 1 - CJ, Bunk, Elly (Queen of Rich Hill) Dennis and Iggy. Picture 2 - Terry, new GPX-4000 Metal Detector and Rich Hill nugget owner! Picture 3 - My 8 Dwt Slug Nugget. Picture 4 - My 8 Dwter and (2) nuggets Dennis found. Had a great time, will post more later tonight. Rob Allison
