Tortuga
Wowza that is nice. Care to share what state or country it's from?
matt
California Motherload not far from the spot that started the California Gold Rush. It was found it in a tailing pile from a ground sluice area at less than 12 inches with a Coiltech Platipus Mono Coil. Screamer of a target. Tortuga
No kidding. Amazing it's still there in that area. I'd like to do some prospecting in California one of these days.
oldies1955
Man, what a slug! That would make some nice jewelry if it were slabbed. Great find. Tom H.
matt
I made a mistake in my weight conversion. 151.1 dwt is 7.55 ozt. I will edit the original post.

Thanks Tom! In my opinion, this specimen was too nice to slab with lots of gold showing on the outside. El Dorado has slabbed up several for me and I always look to cut the specimens that don't show well on the outside. El D does some really nice work to turn rocks into jewelry. I will see if I took a picture if the above specimen after cleaning it in the ultrasonic and post it. If anybody is interested, I will post more past finds when I have some time. It's been a while since getting out and now my son is old enough to be interested in detecting so hopefully we can post some recent finds if we get out this winter! matt
A nice pocket of nuggets found 9-28-08. All came from one single hole/crack over 20" deep. Once the large nugget was recovered, I checked the pile and the hole and there were targets everywhere. Had to use the GMT to recover some of the tiny bits.
