MEXICAN EARTHQUAKE --

A big earthquake with the strength of 8.1 on the Richter scale

hits Mexico. Two million Mexicans have died and over a million are injured.

The country is totally ruined and the government doesn't know

where to start with asking for help to rebuild.

The rest of the world is in shock.

Canada is sending troopers to help the Mexican army control the riots.

Saudi Arabia is sending oil.

Other Latin American countries are sending supplies.

The European community (except France) is sending food and money.

The United States, not to be outdone, is sending two million

replacement Mexicans.

God Bless America

Couldn't help myself.

Hey Flak, hot damn, me and the skunk got five little ones today. The skunk is pissed.

First he wanted AC in the house, told him no got. Then he wanted AC in the P/U, no got. He was really in a huff when we got back to the house and of all things he wanted Champaign and Caviar, no got. Somewhere he got one of those little wrist watch GPS's so he wanted to know your coordinates since your the one that spoiled him, so I brought up Google Earth and gave him your coordinates, In QUARTZITE. :P

Bob T. get the Champaign and Caviar ready, the little fella is headed your way.

Garimpo,

Havent heard of any being over Calif. way.

You know, 29 Prospector and Grubstake, dont think they have one of the fuzzy little things. :o:lol:

Lets get some pictures up Garimpo. Havent saw one for awhile.

Bob T. you've been out in the desert way to long but just so you don't get to ordinary here's a few dinks I scared up yesterday.

Got 4 of'em with the NF 17" mono and one with the CT Joey mono. Total weight is a whopping 1.6 grams.

That should get me back in---excuse me, I meant to say gold is gold.

Ole grumpy here but less now.

Oh yea about the pics, I also got the two little black rectangle cubes. Their ferrous and are attracted to a magnet, don't have a clue what they are.

Good Mothers Day morning Colo. Bob and Flak and all.

After I posted that pic and then reviewed it I had a feeling somebody was going to say something about the shape of the one on top.

All the dinks were about two inches deep. One of them gave a real loud high pitch squeal and when I looked down I saw it laying on top of the ground.

I once knew two Chinese brothers by the names of "one hung low" and "hung chow". ;)

Thanks BIGFOOT, I don't know what all that means to someone like me that's just out swinging a detector looking for gold.

That's twice that I've found those cube things. Should I be doing something else?

Going to be quite here for a while, leaving in the morning for the two ranches up North of here and be gone for about a week.

Don,

For you......YES!There is something else you should be doing!Familiarize those areas deposits and go find more areas like them.I dont know if you have access to geologic maps of your area but you should try to get them from the major mining companys that dumped a bunch of money into exploration and are willing to share thier info with you because its not feasable for a large company to mine it anyway(in some cases).Another thang is look for those crystals/cubes(ferric psuedomorphs)when your out anywhere because they are AU indicators.

GOOD LUCK!BIGFOOT

BIGFOOT, thanks for the info.

Again your right on since I found the two "cubes" in a nugget patch. Guess I'm supposed to find the cubes first and then hunt for the gold but I did it bassakwards and found the gold first.

I'll sure keep it in mind if I happen on to the cubes first in the future. Thanks.

Trip up North didn't give up any gold but I now have a wealth of information that I feel will produce in the future.

The state North of here is Tocantins and has in the past had gold practically in the entire state.

First day was driving 350 miles to the nearest town, Parana and waiting for the tractor to arrive. Finally it got there at 1700 and to late to leave for the final destination.

Tuesday morning, my amigo that owns the ranch, me in the Toyota and the truck with the tractor set out for the final 80 miles of up and down dirt road. Also 31 low water crossings, 4 wood bridges one that was mostly complete, just one log missing.

After 2 hrs and 10 minutes of 2nd and 3rd gear driving I arrived at the village. Now another 5 hour wait for the tractor to show up.

Each night I made the drive back to the town with a hotel, that's 160 miles of driving each day.

Truck problems, truck break downs, amigo's Mitsubishi falling into a hole that swallowed the front end of the truck I only got in two hours of beeping.

The entire 80 miles has fantastic looking gravels that I'll check out more in June when I return.

When in the village three of the locals claim they know where people have picked up nuggets in the past by just walking slowly and seeing them on the ground. Now as if that isn't enough to raise the blood pressure they also claim to know where gold has been found in the past on some of the local ranches. It's their custom to find nuggets and then take hoes and picks and start digging.

Now for the best news of all, (get the blood pressure meds) they all say that there's never been a detector there. :P

Wonder why I'm going back in June? No more hotel and 80 mile drive each morning and again in the evening. This time I'll be staying in a converted barn. Converted meaning they cleaned an area large enough for two cots. Can't get much better than that.

At least I won't be paying for a hotel room but I will supply the food for the family that lives there and me and my amigo.

My amigo has been my helper in the past when I was dredging, he cooks, cleans up the mess and does security for the camp. This time since the woman that lives there will do that then he will pan the river on the ranch while I do the beeping.

I'm think that the entire month of June should prove rewarding.

Pics later, forgot to download them.

Garimpo,

First I have to say, no detectors ever?!:o:):D

Here is a small article that I thought might hold some interest for you.

http://66.102.7.104/search?q=cache:7Y-JwKM...lient=firefox-a

If that link doesn't work try this one:

http://biz.yahoo.com/iw/060505/0127504.html

It talks about gold exploration by a company in the state of Goias. You're probably familiar with the operation but what I found of some interest is the short description of the geologic conditions hosting the gold.

"The previous mine workers extracted gold from structurally controlled siliceous zones and quartz veins with disjointed pods of sulphide (pyrite, arsenopyrite, and chalcopyrite), hosted in stratiform metamorphosed calcareous shales of Proterozoic age". Anyway, for a more in depth explanation of "structurally controlled veins" I'll refer you to the quote below:

“When searching for structurally controlled ore shoots, it is necessary to look for places where one would expect the pressure to have decreased along the vein systems. Some structurally controlled ore shoots area found in folds. Many fold closures in gold-bearing veins will be enriched by gold. Another type of structurally controlled ore shoot includes vein intersections. Some intersections of gold bearing veins have been dramatically enriched in gold. There are many other types of structurally controlled ore shoots. For example, while prospecting in Gold Hill district in the Medicine Bow Mountains of Wyoming, I noted that gold was almost exclusively found in veins adjacent to amphibolite. Veins in quartzite were unproductiveâ€. p. 8 Searching for Gold in Wyoming W. Dan Hausel 2002.

Hausel also mentions that some folds may produce saddle-reef veins that lie parallel to the fold access. So, that's what the reefs are that I’ve heard mentioned as being in Australia.

Sounds like the rock surrounding the veins is pretty old, 530-300 million years.

You may have already read the last quote above on another forum since I did post it elsewhere. Here is the complete file for the final above quote if you're interested. I found it to be fairly informative reading:

Calm down Flak, I just forgot to download them. I want you to stay a happy camper so here they are, not much really.

rexb, I don't know anything about the conditions that your describing even though they do sound interesting and I wish I knew more. I think you would go crazy down here trying to decipher this geology.

In the road cuts where they cut through the mountains and hills is like looking at a puzzle with all the different layers, shapes and colors.

In some of my earlier post I had pics of holes in the hills where the veins went completely through the hill from one side all the way across to the other side. Most are about three feet wide and thirty feet deep.

I've always wondered if there's extensions either to the sides or even deeper that the miners didn't know about.

Yes, I walked the bridge before driving onto it. I've had that experience before when one of the logs decided to turn over just as the front wheel was on it.

The two women are just returning from the river where they did their washing.

The two river pics are a different river on each side of the bridge pic. Anybody like to highbank or test with a three inch dredge?

My new PT (personal tractor). This is how they clear the jungle out to make a new fence. In this case 4,500 acres of fence. Also good detecting.

what a great opportunity Garimpo,

can't wait to see what you turn up.

As far as being calm goes,

well you know what it's like to have to live

with a skunk that is constantly looking over your shoulder

and wanting you to try every area you read about...

I never realized one of a skunks qualities

was being able to nag so effectively.

Oh well, I'm learning.

This is one of the skunks suggestions for prospecting in the desert.

Let me boil down what I think is the most important part of the info. Look for folds, or bends in any veins you may come in contact with. Also, veins intersecting with other veins.

Thanks rexb, now I have more stuff to store in the grey matter.

Flak, I believe I know where you got the pic from. Probably it's around the Kalgoorlie area in W.A. and the person on the desert palomino is daza. He sure gets around, probably hiding from his mom. ;)

Don't know all the catch phrases for gold going up and down.

So this morning I gathered up a few pieces I had laying around and went to town to "negotiate" with the gold buyer. He wasn't in but his assistant said they were paying $18.00 per gram, I said I'll be back and talk to the man later.

Later when the man was there he said the same thing, I said not good enough and started to leave. Mr. buyer grabbed his calculator and started pounding the keys so I waited and he came up to $18.50. Thanks but I'll wait until next Tues. or Wed. and you can pay me $40.00 to $45.00, turned to leave, oh by the way, how much for a half a kilo.

Click----click----click----click (calculator talk) ok he says final offer $19.00 per gram. My answer was wait a couple of minutes and I'll get it out of the car.

I was remember last night when I first got here, gold was $4.00 a gram, so now I sold at $19.00 a gram. Is that a 500% increase? Sure hope so, sounds really good.

When I went in to the gold buyers shop gold was at $670.10 or there abouts. The buyer knew gold was dropping but when I got back to the house it was at $657.00.

Several things made me sell, #1 don't remember who made the post awhile back about his dad that had a bunch of silver dollars that the Hunt Bro. wanted but he held on to long and they took a dive, #2 don't let greed get the best of you, sell and be happy, #3 at the exchange rate now I can get $1.00 USD for two Brazilian Reals, then later when the exchange rate gets to three to one like it did last year I'll trade the dollars in and get the three to one rate.

Another deal today was pretty good too. A guy wanted to borrow my GPX and wanted me to tell him where there was gold. So I made the deal, I got the first pick of any nuggets that he found.

This has been a good day, he went and found 65 grams. Here's my pick, 20.7 grams. Any of you treasure hunters know what this looks like?

Have a "golden" laugh for your "golden" days. ;)

In the beginning, God created the Heavens and the Earth and populated the Earth with broccoli, cauliflower and spinach, green and yellow and red vegetables of all kinds, so Man and Woman would live long and healthy lives.

Then using God's great gifts, Satan created Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream and Krispy Creme Donuts. And Satan said, "You want chocolate with that?"

And Man said, "Yes!" and Woman said, "and as long as you're at it, add some sprinkles." And they gained 10 pounds. And Satan smiled.

And God created the healthful yogurt that Woman might keep the figure that Man found so fair. And Satan brought forth white flour from the wheat, and sugar from the cane and combined them. And Woman went from size 6 to size 14.

So God said, "Try my fresh green salad." And Satan presented Thousand-Island Dressing, buttery croutons and garlic toast on the side. And Man and Woman unfastened their belts following the repast.

God then said, "I have sent you heart healthy vegetables and olive oil in which to cook them." And Satan brought forth deep fried fish and chicken-fried steak so big it needed its own platter. And Man gained more weight and his cholesterol went through the roof.

God then created a light, fluffy white cake, named it "Angel Food Cake," and said, "It is good." Satan then created chocolate cake and named it "Devil's Food."

God then brought forth running shoes so that His children might lose those extra pounds. And Satan gave cable TV with a remote control so Man would not have to toil changing the channels. And Man and Woman laughed and cried before the flickering blue light and gained pounds.

Then God brought forth the potato, naturally low in fat with nutrition. And Satan peeled off the healthful skin and sliced the starchy center into chips and deep-fried them. And Man gained pounds.

God then gave lean beef so that Man might consume fewer calories and still satisfy his appetite. And Satan created McDonald's and its 99-cent double cheeseburger. Then said, "You want fries with that?" And Man replied, "Yes! And super size them!" And Satan said, "It is good." And Man went into cardiac arrest.

God sighed and created quadruple bypass surgery. Then Satan created HMOs.

Thought for the day:

There is more money being spent on breast implants and Viagra today than on Alzheimer's research. This means that by 2040, there should be a large elderly population with perky boobs and huge erections and absolutely no recollection of what to do with them.
