  1. Hey Guys, Please re-visit the main post above for details on how to send payment. It's $25 per ticket and there are two options right now, Paypal or a B of A account that I set up today to take dontions. I have also gotten more request where others want to add some other goodies, so maybe we can have a multiple prize raffle for this "Bill Southern" donation. Rob Allison
  2. Hey Jim, Amen .... Memories of many of these long gone nuggetshooters will live through many generations.
  3. Hey Guys, I'm just acting as a person that can help raise the money. I want to raise as much funds as possible, but also let people know so they can also pray for Bill's wife and family. I've already had a bunch of guys talk about pretty good donations towards this raffle. My thoughts are to set up some type of paypal account to collect the funds. I would then like to withdrawl the funds and give a check personally to Bill Southern and family. At that same time, I was hoping Bill might draw out the lucky winner of the Minelab GPX 5000. All I can ask is you pass this info around to all the local clubs, friends and such so we can raise as much as possible for a good cause. I'm hoping I can get some fellow Minelab dealers involved to support this great cause. If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know.
  4. Minelab GPX 5000 Raffle & More - Southern Family Fund Hello All, Well this morning I was scanning the Interent gold forums and happen to run across a very touching post. The post was about a fellow, local Minelab dealer here in Arizona that was struck with tragic news. This really touched me personally since it was not only a local Minelab dealer, but a friend and old nugget hunting partner. I seen right way how everyone was willing to help and pray for his family. My first thought being a Cancer survivor myself, is what would happen if that was my family? Well Bill Southern, owner of the NuggetShooter Store in Morristown, Arizona was given bad news about his longtime wife having terminal cancer. This is news that none of us want to hear, so I can't even imagine what is going through his mind, let alone is wife and family. You can read more about the news on Bill Southern's forum at this link - http://www.nuggetshooter.ipbhost.com/index.php?showtopic=24086 After some thought and reading the post above, I knew not having insurance that the bills would be overwhelming, something that their family don't need to stress over. I contact my rep at Minelab Americas and asked for permission to run a raffle on a new Minelab GPX 5000 metal detector. All the funds collected will go directly to Bill Southern and Family. I think this is an awesome opportunity for everyone to help a Brother in need, but at the same time have a shot at winning one of the most powerful metal detectors on the planet. Raffle tickets are $25 per ticket, no limit on amount of tickets. At the end of the raffle I would personally drive over to Bill's, deliver the funds and allow him to pick the winner of the new Minelab GPX 5000 metal detector. I felt this would be the quickest way to raise the most amount of money in a short time period. I'm hoping you all feel the same and are able to at least help out in some way, even if it's just the power of prayer for Bill and his family. 6. Hey Tom, Congrats!! Those are the ones that are fun to find. Looking at the depth of the wash, I'm guessing there is more to be found if you drywash or rake it down a bit. Keep up the great success. Rob Allison
  7. Hey John, You sure sounds excited! Did you get your new GPX 5000 yet? The Minelab X-Terra 705 standard or Gold Pack are great. This is probably the second hottest detector we sell behind the GPX. The X-Terra 705 is completely digital, easy to use and is a 2-1 metal detector (multi-purpose - coin/relic/beach and gold nugget) all in one. I would recommend the 705 standard since it has the 8.5-inch waterproof coil which is better for beach hunting or anywhere around water. The 705 Gold comes with the 18.75khz high freq. 10-inch elliptical DD, which is better for nugget hunting and great sensitivity to small items such as gold nuggets. Hope this helps a bit, Rob Allison
  8. Hello All, This was one of the first years we didn't set up. We waited too long and they didn't have space available. Well, it's always stressful when you have to drag hundreds of items down for a few days and then drag up in a few short hours. Maybe next year we will be there. Curious how the show was as far as attendence and if there was any new vendors? I thought about making it down this morning to walk around, but decided to catch up on sleep and family time. Hope all the vendors done well. Rob Allison
  9. Hey Frank, Yep, those 500+ Grammers are rare now. About 10 years ago finding 100+ grammers were common, 500+ grammers rare, but one here and there and then every so often a 1000+ Grammer. A friend of mine spent 3 years camping at Gold Basin hunting 6 days a week. He collected over 60,000 Grams of the Gold Basin. I never seen so many pieces, but it filled several 2 gallons plastic containers and he sold a good portion of them in Quartzsite for cash money. He got hard up for cash about 2-3 years ago and called and said he would sell his last remaining shoe box full of Gold Basins for .30 cents a gram. I thought about it, probably should have done it. Congrats on your find, big ones are tough to come by now. Wishing you many more .... Rob Allison
  10. Hey Steveo, Wishing you luck out there around Blythe. I think there is potentially for sure, just a matter of getting in the right spot.
  11. Hey Guys, I've heard about and seen some really nice nuggets that have came from the El Paso's over the years from metal detectors. I would recommend joining one or several of those clubs and giving those gulches, benches and hillsides a run. Some pieces have been over a pound in weight!
  12. Hey Ray, Thanks for the kind words. I'm just glad you were able to get a great detector while you were looking. I'm surprised Gerry put it up for sale, but when he brought it over he was excited to get back to Arizona, work his new claims and get another GPX 5000 from me when he returns. Thanks for all your business and friendship Ray. Rob Allison
  13. Hey Uncle Ron, One hell of a piece. Congrats on another nugget from one of your nugget patches. Thanks for sharing your experience with us. Wishing you many more in the near future!
  14. Hey Mike, I'm glad the Goldscreamer Power Pack (I think that is what you got) has helped increase your gold finds. Take it easy for a bit before you hit anymore patches!
  15. Hey Chris, I won't be setting up this time, waited too long and they didn't have any space available. Kind of surprised, Nancy would always make space for anyone wanting to set up.
  16. Hey Mike, Thanks God everything worked out well. You're too good of a guy to leave us. Take it easy for a bit, then hit it hard when you're feeling better. In the meantime, give me a call anytime to shoot the breeze about nuggethunting.
  17. Thanks for the comments guys. I felt good to do a bit of detecting for once.
  18. Hello All, This weekend I spent most of my timing training customers, but managed to hunt for a few hours with the small NF 8x6 and snagged this 2.25 Dwt nugget pretty close to the surface. Felt good to swing the detector for a bit, the instructions can wear a person down .... Happy Hunting.
  19. Lucky Joe, That for the video, sure exciting to see those nuggets pop out of the ground. Congrats! Hope to see more of your videos soon. P.S. Awesome to see your Father out there with you. Rob Allison
  20. Hey Pete, Great video, but stop eating those flies!! Hope to see more of the videos in the future. Rob Allison
  21. Hey Russ, Since I'm not tracking you like a club, I promise to keep my eyes shut all the way there. Just remember, your mentor trusted and shown me a few spots and I never told a sole.
  22. Hey Guys, I'm hoping within a month or so I will have some free time to spent exploring some country that I been wanting to hunt for years. In the meantime, if I find anymore "sunbaker" nuggets on the bedrock, I will be sure to take a picture and post them here. Thanks for all the comments.

  24. Hey JohnMac, Received your down payment for the Minelab GPX 5000. What do you mean about training, you expect me to train you also? Ok, I'm just kidding, but had to toss that in there. Thanks for the payment, you're going to be more than thrilled you will have the best detector on the planet. Talk with you soon, Rob Allison
  25. Hey Paul, You're very welcome. Dennis and I enjoyed your company at the Hill. Glad you picked up a few pointers that might help you find that monster nugget! Not sure why you can't post the pictures. My best guess is you need to go under your settings on the forum and delete some old pictures to allow you some more space. The forums only allow so much upload space for members and even the admin. Talk with you soon,
