  2. Hello All, Over the last month or so I've been using the new Nugget Finder Advantage 14-inch. The new coil is a solid, lightweight and elliptical in design. I must say it's extremly quiet and I like the fact it's solid on the bottom and top, which elliminates all the snagging of the open web design coils. There has been a bunch of buzz on these new Advantage solid since there isn't much advertisement on them yet. Here are some of my finds, 7.4 Dwt's worth ($647.50 @ current spot price) since I've been using the new coil. Just in a few short months nugget hunting on the weekends I have well paid for this coil and some. Anyone interested in these new coils, I have a full line of them in stock and available for sale. Contact me through phone or email if you have any questions. Rob Allison Rob's Detector Sales 623-362-1459 rob@robsdetectors.com
  3. Hey Guys, Revisited the patch this week, but had an unfortunate issue with a new coil. That being said, I was able to snag a 1.1 Dwter at a good depth before the coil issue got too bad. Will post on a new thread. Rob Allison
  4. Hey Mike, Thanks for the comments on the award. I've had a lot of good comments on customers that have ordered and stated out easy it's to find products. Lets just say off the record, the website award went to a former ........
  5. Hello All, I recently had a local customer here in Arizona purchase a Minelab X-Terra 705 Gold metal detector. After field instructions and finding his first gold nugget, the customer had a huge interests in what the Minelab GPX 5000 could do, so he's taking the plung and selling the 705 for a GPX 5000. Customer paid $729 + Arizona sales tax, but is letting it go for $625.00 cash if anyone is interested. The unit was only used once and is practically brand new. Minelab X-Terra 705 Gold Pack, serial # 40427515871 Call me at 623-362-1459 if you're interested in the unit. Customer isn't too interested in shipping the unit at least for now. Thanks, Rob Allison
  6. Hey Kelly, Those real faint signals you're talking about sound "faint." LOL I will try to make a video this weekend, but it might be hard for the external speaker to pick up on it in a video. They sounds like a drop in the thresold, a very light signal. Some of my best nugget finds have been these type of signals that have been overlooked. Hope this helps, Rob Allison
  7. Hello Doug, Here are two of your pictures you sent to me that I'm posting on the forums for you. Great looking gold specimens you found.
  8. Hey New Beeper, Thanks for your comments. I have a bunch of Youtube videos to add to the "Youtube Forum" section, just been too busy lately. I'm sure the miner wasn't happy loosing the 5 cent piece.
  9. Hey Goldstudmuffin, Great to see you back on the forums. As always, I'm thinking about you and you know what. I toggle back in forth when it comes to searchcoils. I was using the Coiltek Blitz 14-inch for several years with great success, but now I'm using the Nugget Finder 14-inch Advantage Solid Mono. This coil is a bit heavier over the Coiltek, but I like it since it's solid (less snags on vegitation and rocks). I'm found a number of nuggets with this coil so far also, so performance wise I would say they are both close, it's just more preference. We need to get out for a hunt, maybe some old, easy patches to start out with (yours, mine or new spots). Talk with you later, Rob Allison
  10. Hey Guys, Thanks for the comments, I'm running 3, maybe 4 full page ads in major prospecting and mining magazines. I haven't seen my Lost Treasure yet, but I'm sure it looks great. It's getting tough to keep up with everything, but I'm still getting it done. Hey Jim, don't forget I was just awarded the 2012 Minelab Customer Care Award at the recent Minelab Partner's Conference in Virginia. This is the second year back to back I have won this award. I guess I'm doing something right! Thanks for posting. Hope to see you both posting more on the forums. Your friend, Rob Allison
  11. Hey Bob, Ya, I agree with you. When my partner showed me where he turned this nugget up, we should have gotten it the first go around. That being said, when you first find a new patch, you're running and gunning the patch hoping to pick up the easy nuggets, making sure you're not leaving too many sitting ducks behind if someone else happens to stumble onto the same location before you can return. Here is a closer view of the same nugget. Just a slug ....
  12. Hello All, This weekend a partner and I decided to make a long hike into an area that has several old nugget patches. It's been years since the last time I prospecting these patches, but felt since the weather was breaking it was time for another look with the GPX 5000's. After several hours of a long hike, the patch I had my mind on for such a long time was way overgrown. Besides all the extra brush, as we walked around we didn't notice any digs or signs anyone has been here since the last time we visited the patch. After several hours of hunting, my partner called me over and dropped a lump into my hand. At the time we both were thinking somewhere between 1/2 - 3/4 ounce, but later after hitting the gold scale the nugget weighed in at 17.4 Dwt's. My partner said it was just a slight whisper and we both might have missed it the first time into this patch. I dug a few trashed targets I missed during the first run, but overall that was the only nugget left we could detect. Congrats to my partner on a great find for an old patch. Hope you enjoyed. Rob Allison
  13. Hey Adam, Thanks! Some relic finds such as this are just as fun to find over a nugget. I was hoping with the rattling inside and knowing the placer location where I found it, that it might just have a few nuggets inside. Amazing the wood matches survived as long as they did. Rob Allison
  14. Hey Pete, Now after really studying the size, shape and picture, it does look a bit strange for the amount of weight. Trying to picture the "Hand of Faith" nugget vs. something like this at 1,000 plus ounces, it just don't seem like this piece has the mass to it. Will be interesting to hear if it's real or fake ....
  15. Hey Steve, I have to agree with you. Its amazing on the amount of people here in the US that can afford a Minelab GPX 5000 with the tough economy. If you look at the past history of Minelab PI's, all of them have increased in price at least $500 from the prior detector. My guess is that if a new Minelab PI would happen to come out, then the MAP price would be no less than like $6295.00. I didn't see you at the Minelab Partner's Conference, but I did get to talk with a few Minelab Engineers and try to get the scoop on what could be coming out. They seem to believe there are more things that can be done, but really wouldn't explain what they could be. I would like to see a much more lightweight design, like the CTX with an external speaker like you mentioned. I would also like to see a much better discrimination, but it always goes back to "you cant get a PI with a great discriminator." Stock waterproof searchcoils would also be a good selling feature on a new unit. I've sold hundreds of the aftermarket searchcoils for the Minelab PI's since Minelab don't support this on their current PI's. I don't think we will see anything soon, but hopefully on the next PI unit there will be some new features. Just my thoughts, Rob Allison
  16. Holy Shit Batman!! Well hopefully it's a recent find. Keep us posted Doc if you hear anymore about it. Thanks, Rob Allison
  17. Hey Guys, It's ok to agree to disagree. This is how everyone learns and as long as we keep it open and honest, I think most respect that. Mineral ID can sometimes be tough, as many specimens that are shown on display or in books are museum type pieces. For the most part, many of these specimens will not look like what most of us just pick up in the field, unless you're really lucky (it happens). I have to toss in one point, A good friend of mine claimed to have found several beautiful pieces of Black Tourmaline within a known Arizona gold placer up North. One of the pieces was covered with gold, making the specimen even more unique in nature. I believe I have a picture of it, will have to dig through my picture archieves. Rob Allison
  18. Hey Fred, That was my first thought when I heard stuff rattling around in it .... NUGGETS!!
  19. Hello All, Many customers have asked about the "auto tune" procedure and the first and last three beeps. Here is a short video I made to show you how you can quick "auto tune" the Minelab GPX 5000. Keep in mind, I'm leaving the coil flat on the ground during the auto tune process, I didn't scan 360 degrees like the Instructional Manual might mention. Hope you enjoyed. Rob Allison
  20. Hello All, This last weekend I was pretty busy with field work and field instructions, but I was still able to swing the detector for a few hours. I found all four of these nuggets over two days of getting to poke around a few hours here and there. The very bottom nugget was found in an old pile, but the top three were found in a new spot that I need to get back and examine more. All the nuggets were found with a Minelab GPX 5000 metal detector and the new NF Advantage 14-inch EMZ elliptical mono searchcoil. I haven't had time to weight them, but guessing overall about 3 Dwt's. Hope you enjoyed. Rob Allison
  21. Hello All, Ralph, a local of Arizona purchased a Minelab GPX detector from us earlier this year. Last weekend "Team RDS (Rob's Detector Sales," conducted field instructions with Ralph and he was able to score his first gold nugget find. Congrats on your new find, wishing you much more continued success! Thanks once again for your business and continued support. Below is a picture of Rob with RDS & Ralph.
  22. Hello All, Just an update, I have been posting stuff in the related forums. For example, I just posted the 5 cent coin and a new match container (still with matches) in the Coin, Relic and Treasure forum. I also added a few more Youtube vidoes in the Youtube forum section. Keep an eye on the other forums, despite they might have been a bit slow before. I have some new coin/relic hunters that are also going to contribute new finds, which should be pretty exciting once they start posting. Thanks! Rob Allison
  23. Hello All, Been playing around with a new digital camera that I purchased. The video quality of my last digital was a bit poor, so still experimenting with this new one. Hope to get out in the field and get some nice, new videos of some new gold discoveries. In the meantime, here is a short video on some gold I found with the Minelab GPX 5000 last year around the Vulture Mountains. The gold is pretty rough and I believe the original source is right on the side of the hill. Probably worth a re-visit and do a bit of metal detecting on the sides hoping to hit a hillside nugget or patch. Take care, Rob Allison
  24. Hello All, Last week I discovered this old match container that still had a few old wooden matches in tact. There was also a few small pieces of metal, one being part of the latch that held the match container closed. Pretty interesting to know the wooden matches were still there. I'm guessing it's a good 100 years old figuring where I found it. Any thoughts? Hope you enjoyed. Rob Allison
  25. Hello All, Here is an old 5 cent Shield Nickel I found out at one of the old mining camps in Arizona. The coin was found in a old placer tunnel, so I know an old-timer was carrying it around at one time. Makes you wonder the story behind the find? Who owned it, what did he look like, what was the reason the coin was there? Hope you enjoyed. Rob Allison
