  1. Hello Doc, That is just crazy .... I seen a story on the Internet today about it. All my prayers go out to all the families over there. God Bless the Aussie's Rob Allison
  2. Hey Hendo, I thought I still had one around here, but I must have sold it also. Those were a hot item back in the day. Rob Allison
  3. Hello Marco, Good question. I can tell you many professional nugget hunters were finding gold nuggets with Monoloops on those ground conditions. Many of them prefered Monoloops even though the ground was noisier and they kept their searchcoils off the ground a bit to ignore the mineralization noise. I agree with you that the majority of the nuggetshooters were using DD's on that mineralized ground, but not all of them. I'm able to hunt locations with a Monoloop on the GPX series where I couldn't before with a GP series. I would have to use a DD or DD Pro coil on the GP series to hunt many of these locations, but my GPX with a Mono just purrs through the spots with no ground noise. Take care, Rob Allison
  4. Hey Goldstudmuffin Twins, Congrats on the new "Tin Can" patch finds. A lot of guys are finding some nice nuggets lately, just goes to show they are still out there. Hope you're able to extend the patch out a bit and find more. Take care, Rob Allison
  5. Hey Lucky, Yep, that Username "Lucky" fits you well. I don't think you're Lucky, but rather persistant and good! Congrats on a Monster 2.25+ ounce gold nugget. Thanks for always sharing your stories here on my forum. Wishing you a very successful year. Hope to read more stories and see those nice California gold nuggets. Take care, Rob Allison
  6. Hey Grubstake, Any luck out of you or your Uncle today? Wishing you a Happy Birthday again. Rob Allison
  7. Hey MB, What type of booths are you setting up? Come over and say Hello if you get a chance, or if I know what you're setting up I will come over and visit you when it slows down. Talk with you later, Rob Allison
  8. Hey Grubstake, Happy Birthday To You!!! Your friend, Rob Allison
  9. Hey Guys, Thanks! Dawn is now back home and doing much better. A few days ago we went in for a routine Ultrasound to see how the Baby was doing. The Ultrasound Tech acted somewhat funny, but didn't really say anything to us. A few minutes later the Doctor came in and stated Dawn's amniotic fluid around the Baby was very low and concerning. They admited her to the ER for a few days to have some treatments to get the fluid level back up to where it needs to be. The treatments have worked, but she must stay down and rest (you know, run the business, answer phone calls .... ). If the Amniotic fluid stays low it will force you into labor. Dawn is only 31-32 weeks, so we don't want to have the Baby yet. Thanks for all the concerns and prayers. Rob Allison
  10. Hello Mike, I agree with what the guys stated. When I sell a metal detector to a customer, sometimes they want to purchase a bunch of coils right away. I tell them just play around with the stock coil and get used to that coil, the metal detector and what it's telling you. Once you feel good with the metal detector then you can play around with different coils of your choice. Just my suggestion. Rob Allison
  11. Hey Grubstake, Wishing you a wonderful 60th Birthday. Also hope you find a very nice Birthday nugget! Dawn just got out of the Hospital, so I'm sticking around here this weekend. Take care buddy, Rob Allison
  12. Hello Chuck, Looking forward to seeing you at the Gold Show. I should have a good display of stuff at our booths. Great talking with you this evening also. See you there, Rob Allison
  13. Hey Digdeep, Give me a call when you want to order one. I will save a copy for you. I also forgot to mention the price. They are $29.95 + Shipping. The least expensive, but most informative DVD out there on the GPX series. Give me a call if you're interested. Rob Allison
  14. Hello All, Practical Prospecting with Minelab’s GPX Series I am pleased to announce that our newest video titled, Practical Prospecting with Minelab’s GPX Series, has arrived! Filmed in the Arizona goldfields, this 2 ½ hour training DVD provides straight-forward answers to some of the most common questions regarding the operation of the GPX metal detectors, specifically the GPX-4500. Viewers will travel alongside us in the goldfields as we discuss the new features, choosing proper settings, coil selection, and other tips on how to achieve maximum performance. There are several ‘live’ nugget digs captured on film, along with personal interviews from seasoned prospectors Bob “ Montana ” Dansie and Rob Allison. Your Price - $29.95 + Shipping If you're interested in this new DVD, please contact me at (623) 362-1459 to get one of the first ones available. If you're heading to the Phoenix GPAA Gold Show, I will have them there also. This show will be at the Arizona State Fairgrounds @ 19th ave. and McDowell Rd., Feb. 14th and 15th. I'm excited to watch it myself ... or at least see myself! Take care, Rob Allison
  15. Hey JP, Great to hear from you. Congrats on the recent specie and nuggets you found. No reason to be a stranger here, we all welcome you and miss your Outback stories and gold finds. Rob Allison
  16. Hey Guys, Man the stories either multiple or more nuggets were found towards the end of the day. I know my friend Rick found two small nuggets from the far push Saturday morning. He said he seen 3-4 other small ones and heard about a nice one that he said weight 1/3 ounce. This might be the 3-4 Dwter you're talking about. Ya, I took David to a secret gully where I found hundreds of nuggets over the past 10 years. The water didn't do much there, but we still managed to squeak a few from the bedrock areas. Mike & Lon - Congrats on your nuggets! Talk with you later, Rob Allison
  17. Hey MtnHunter, Glad you seen the ad. If you're using the SD series (SD2000, 2100 or 2200) you're going to be able to run your SD at a higher voltage. The stock voltage is 6 volts, but after several hours of detecting the stock lead acid battery will start to drop in voltage. This means you will start to sacrifice some depth and sensitivity (audio also) as the day goes on. With the Coiltek Pocket Rocket System you can run at either 6.7 or 7.3 reglated volts the entire day. This will equate to more stability, better sensitivity, depth and the fact it's the lightest battery system available for any Minelab PI. If you're using the GP (Extreme, 3000 or 3500) or the GPX (4000 or 4500) series you will only get the benefit of the lightweight battery. I love this system and used it all the way from the SD series through the GP series up to the recent GPX series. I always have them in stock if you're interested. If you're in Arizona, stop over at the Phoenix GPAA Gold Show at the State Fairgrounds Feb. 14th and 15th to see them in person. Take care, Rob Allison

  19. Hello All, Since the recent price reduction on the Minelab SD's, there has been a lot of talk about the mods and overall performance of them. Over the years, whether you're in Australia or the US, people have stated the SD's still get more outright depth on larger gold nuggets than the GP or GPX series. I've done some testing over the years and found there is no doubt the GP or GPX series can find small gold and smaller gold at depth over the SD's series. I've missed hundreds of gold nuggets in old patches with the SD's, but keep in mind I didn't have the Pocket Rocket or any type of mods back then (early-mid 90's). Would like to hear what others have seen, concluded or believe about these two different metal detectors (SD vs. GPX) & technologies. Very curious myself ..... Rob Allison
  20. Hey Jerry, Well I have used all the coils under 11 and now 12-inch for the pushes. For a long time I was using the Coiltek Platypus 11.5-inch Elliptical Mono and done well with it. I spent some time also using the Minelab Commander 11 and 8-inch Mono's along with the Coiltek Joey 10x5 Elliptical Mono. I would suggest a Mono over a DD for better depth and sensitivity. The smaller the coil, the less interference you're going to hear from other metal detectors on the first day. Either way it's pretty noisy, but with a small coil it's not as bad! I prefer to come back a day or so later and run over the ground slow with a bigger Mono. I've actually found better gold and deeper doing this. A partner of mine has been using the Minelab Commander 11-inch Round on the pushes the last couple of months and hasn't been skunked since then. He is conviced that coil is doing wonders on his GPX. It all comes down to preference, but if you puchase a coil for the pushes (under 12-inch), I would consider a size that you might be able to make use of somewhere beyond the push also. Real small coils like the Joey and Minelab 8-inch are great on the pushes, but also can be used on the claims for working in and around the Granite boulders to find gold nuggets that bigger coils have missed. Once you see these new Goldstalker's, if you don't have one already, you're going to be amazed! Hope to see you at the Gold Show. P.S. Dawn is due April 3rd, but we both believe the Baby will be born before that. Rob Allison
  21. Hello Uncle Ron, I talked with Minelab and told them it was stupid to discontinue the SD2100 since it has been a long time favorite. There is so much you can do with this detector, plus some believe it goes deeper than any Minelab PI on the market. Right now at $1,200 the Minelab SD2100v2 is selling for $400 less than the White's TDI. I'm also a firm believe like you Uncle Ron that the SD2100v2 is a better overall metal detector than the White's TDI. I'm real surprised Minelab droppe the price so drastically on the SD2100v2, a savings of $800's right now! Today Minelab claimed they had around 30 more SD2100v2's in stock and then the unit would be discontinued. I hope they don't discontinue the unit since it's a great seller. Anyone looking for a new metal detector, including the SD series can see me at the upcoming Phoenix GPAA Gold Show Feb. 14th and 15th. Talk with you all later, Rob Allison
  22. Hey John, Did Minelab tell you the SD2100v's were out of stock, or the parts to repair it? I talked with them today and they still had about 30 units in stock. Once those are gone the SD2100v2 will be discontinued for good from what I'm told. Take care, Rob Allison
  23. Hey Grubstake, Over the years you have been one of the best contributors on this forum and many others. We all hate to hear of anyone leaving, especially me. Right now the economy has everyone scared not knowing how it will turn out. Is it going to get worse before it gets better? People are struggling and loosing jobs everywhere. Hope you stick around as we all love you here! Talk with you later, Rob Allison
  24. Hey Steve, Yep, they both need a Signal Enhancer to boost the sound up more. The overall circuitry is the same, but the board and components are much newer since the old Green boxed SD2100's were manufactured about 12-13 years ago. Like I stated, you don't have to have one on the SD2100's to operate, you can find plenty of targets without one. However, since it does have lower audio then the GP and GPX series, most will eventually add a good Signal Enhancer on them. I recommend the Detacc or newest Goldscreamer. Hope this helps, Rob Allison
  25. Hey Lon, Congrats on finding the first and getting the years membership. David called yesterday, but I was dredging all day and didn't have cell phone service at this location. I talked with him earlier today, but really don't have a clue what his GPX-4500 was doing without being there. Sometimes there is more interference than other days and he also said he was in Tracking. The Auto Tracking makes a bit more noise since the unit is ground balancing for you. Heard Mike found a nice one also. Take care, Rob Allison
